    There were other things I wanted to include in this video such as self-generated optic flow and panoramic vision, but it went a bit deep and the flow of the video was lost, so I deleted those parts. Perhaps I will make another video about those in the future.
    In hindsight I would have liked to make this video longer too, lingering in silence with some of the nature scenes.
    I have some videos planned for the future that I think will be fitting to so slow and silent (as in me not talking) nature scenes.
    It's tricky to get the balance right sometimes, but I'm learning with each video.
    I appreciate all your kind comments, thank you 🙏🏼

    'Sometimes we don't need to know the science, we just need to know what makes us feel good' very true. We have a subconscious connection with the planet that most times becomes unsynchronized.

      I agree TXF! I think that subconscious connection has been muted over the years though... it's something that unlocks when we spend time in nature without digital.

    Absolutely love this video. I mentioned before how you've been inspiring me over the last few months. I've been making a number of small changes that are starting to add up. Healthier choices in food/drink.. starting fitness and being outdoors in nature. In fact, out walking today it hit me. Mother nature. There really is something about it. I can sit on the beach and stare out to sea for hours. So calming. I even tried barefoot walking early in the morning on our lawn to be grounded to nature. It makes a difference. You've inspired me to start doing something on UA-cam too. Anyway well done on the video! I can see how much this meant to you, seeing your bucket list on a different video. Best video yet!

    Hi LT, I was very fortunate to be brought up in a rural farm environment near York. I spent most of my childhood outdoors, making dens, camping, making campfires, shooting and generally being wet and covered in mud most of the time. It becomes almost an addiction wanting to be outside so it wasn't much of a surprise when I joined the Army as an Infantry Officer and spent my career mostly outside again generally wet and covered in mud or hot and covered in dust. I was made redundant in 1995 (yes the Army does that a lot) so my outdoor life was rather curtailed. I had various jobs after that. The office job I had was totally depressing so that went quickly. I needed the outdoors and secured a job as a fireworks and explosives technician which gave me the opportunity to work outdoors in Hong Kong and Central and Southern China as well as the UK. That contract was only for a few years so in 1999 I joined the Met Police where I have been ever since mainly working - outside. However much of the time is indoors tapping away. I still yearn for the outdoors and its benefits are amazing. A few tragic and horrific incidents over the years has caused me to develop PTSD and the associated depression. When the old black dog appears I head off into the ulu (army for outside) and it recalibrates everything. I really enjoyed your video and the science behind why it has that effect on people. :)

    The Lakeland Ridges Challenge Walk by Tom Calvert is an amazing 2 week walk covering the whole Lake District and it’s best ridges. I have done it 3 times now, highly recommended and worth finding a copy of the book.
    As an aside, I work shifts as an emergency worker, 6 days on 4 off. The 6 days are two early shifts 0600-1530, two lates 1430-0000 then two nights 2200-0600, before having four days off. Maybe a 30 day challenge of trying to find ways to best deal with shift work?

    Lovely video. Here's a thought: maybe part of what's so invigorating about being out in nature is that our built environments reduce things in a lot of ways-we regulate temperature, we either regulate or overwhelm ourselves with sonic chaos, we limit the ways in which we move our bodies, we tune out our senses of smell and touch, and far too often our vision is limited to a 14-in flat rectangle in front of us.
    When we reduce all that sensory input, we are depriving our nervous systems of the very thing they are made to process. It's kind of like sitting around with cotton wool in our ears, gauze over our eyes, and thick gloves.
    Getting out in the natural environment feeds our perception and our senses the kinds of input they are made to process. We then feel alive and present because we experiencing such a rich palette of sensory input.
    Or maybe we just inhaled pot smoke from those teenagers hanging out next to the trail, what do I know?
    Kidding aside, it's a real phenomenon and what a way to enhance our experience.🦌🌻🌄
    Thanks as always for a great video and inspirational thoughts.

Great to see you Sungazing, if you combine this with Earthing (barefoot), you have the perfect combination - more vlog ideas! Loved your adventure, only compliant is that it was too short! (Vitamin D also high in mushrooms, and fortified cereal, plant based based milks and orange juice.)

    I always have to thumbs-up when Mama Try makes a sneaky appearance.
    I agree with the points you've made, but maybe a few more are:
    Just walking on something other than totally flat, man-made surfaces - gives your toes, ankles and a whole bunch of stabilising muscles a proper workout.
    Air that is mostly free from volatile organic compounds and pollutants and may have slightly higher oxygen % under the trees
    Sun = many people are deficient in Vitamin D due to an indoor lifestyle - Vitamin D has a whole host of effects on mood (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and general health.

    Loved this, LT! I know about circadian rhythms and being outdoors … your video just reaffirms why being outside is super beneficial for our mental and physical health. Living in rural North Yorkshire I get out every day walking my dogs, so seeing the changes in seasons, nature, sunrises, sunsets are all pretty normal for me. Though I understand it is not normal for others. You were also very lucky with the weather, I imagine it might have been a very different trip in the rain and wind! Did you have everything for 3 days in that one day sack?!

    • @LauraTryUK
      @LauraTryUK  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Ami, after doing my 10k steps challenge I can see how having a dog would be great to get out everyday.
      I was very lucky with the weather, I had it planned it for weeks then saw the forecast and was thrilled. I would have still done it no matter what the weather - it would have had a different vibe for sure 😆
      Yes, I had everything I needed for 4 days in my bag - I packed very light as had quite a bit of camera kit. I ate in pubs in the eve.

    • @anniwilson2534
      @anniwilson2534 2 роки тому

      @@LauraTryUK sorry of course it was 4 days, and I’d forgot you’d have camera equip, wow you did pack light then!
      I have a similar food flask as you - a tip is red lentils, sliced mushrooms, stock cube and boiling water. Mix it up and the lentils cook slowly. Dahl on the go.
      Can I ask about your vivo tracker boots? How durable have you found them and do they cope with mud / wet? 😊

    • @LauraTryUK
      @LauraTryUK  2 роки тому

      @@anniwilson2534 I packed so light, I didn't have a change for my evening meals - a little embarrassing eating in a really (!) posh pub and wearing muddy trousers rolled up and socks (boots were too muddy ) - figured that was better than PJs 😂
      LOVING the suggestions on the food-on-the-go, thank you! It has to lead me to a video idea...... 🤔
      And the Trackers - VERY durable! I have had them for nearly 3 years and still going strong. I can't tell you how many miles I have done. Hundreds! maybe thousands. The sole has now worn down so I am going to get them refurbished with the Revivo programme. I'm thinking about making a review video about them, but reviews aren't that well received in my channel anymore.... your thoughts welcome 🙏🏼

    • @anniwilson2534
      @anniwilson2534 2 роки тому

      @@LauraTryUK haha 😄 After one Lakes trip for dinner I put my Skins recovery leggings on (they doubled up as PJs) they’re a botanical flower pattern so I added a tunic and no-one was any the wiser 😂 As for food on the go … are you thinking hot, cold or both? I reckon that would be a good topic to explore. I’ve some weird food combos I take on the hill! Thanks for the Tracker info, personally I’d love it if you reviewed them. I don’t get why reviewing stuff isn’t popular on YT, is it algorithm based? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sure, some of the demographic won’t be interested, but I would have thought variety in posts would be good. Your posts are always varied and enjoyable; you have a natural, honest style that is refreshing in these days of ‘influencers’. Keep being you, Laura 🙏🏻

    Thank you for this video. Walking to the forest was a big part of my youth. I learned quotes to use them in my final highschool exam paper, while sitting on the moss in the forest. But in the last several years going out to be in nature is not on my list. The first step to wake up, or to walk out, or to take my dog a bit further is something I can't do. I don't know why? Is it justification that I need? Like to justify why spend time in nature when i can be busy and do things. Or stay up longer hours instead waking up early. When I figure this out I'll let you know. Thank you for making me think about it
