    If I am missing a scripture somewhere please let me know. Having a beard is certainly the way the Father wanted us (He made us this way).
    I simply cannot find this commandment you are talking about that forbids cutting the beard... Unless you are talking about the one that says not to cut the hair between the eyes, the hair on the side of your head, and the sides of your beard, and this one was in doing it to mourn the dead.
    please share if I am missing it.

    All the Scriptures in the Torah concerning the beard has to do with marring the beard for the dead like cutting the flesh for the dead. The Bible doesnt say we must keep our beards, the Bible says we should not cut our beards or flesh for the dead.

    Beards look better if they are kept clean and groomed. Obviously God gave men beards. I like the comment Joel Brody made, "a shaved lion would look like a lioness".... :D

  • @faxchase

    @faxchase
    The command is in regards to mourning for the dead... If it were a command there wouldn't be a command to shave if it becomes colored, or the nazarite vow... It creates contradiction if you hold to this & you also have to take scripture out of context.
    It is honorable & good to have a beard and I do not argue this...
    That said there is no command in regarding shaving the beard unless you are speaking about the one that said not to do it when MOURNING FOR THE DEAD.

    @jamnat7 - are you sure of what "under the law" means? The Spirit was given us to remind us of God's words... it cannot contradict it. Also - how do you love your neighbor? According to Leviticus 19 (and Yeshua's words in the gospels) - the Torah teaches you how to love your neighbor. If you walk by the Spirit - you won't violate the Torah... That's what Paul was saying. Where would he get the idea that witchcraft or lasciousness was wrong? In the epistles of Romans he said the Torah.

    matthew 20 says that if i am not better than the pharisees who taught talmud and oppressed people while they didnt keep the torah themselves. I never said beard is enough but if you don´t keep the commandments and have faith you wont enter it that is what matthew says.and how can you have the original language living in you. And i know the father thus i love him by keeping the torah. my neighbour doesnt profit if i say i love you but if i love him by fulfilling my duties towards him

    I don't think it's sinful to shave but I prefer to have a beard and think it's good if other men have beards. I used to shave frequently but I never liked it because I have sensitive skin and I would always break out in bumps and have irritated skin. My ex-wife wanted me to shave because she said kissing her with a beard hurt her face.
    I always shaved my cheeks and never realized until I stopped shaving that I can grow a more full beard than I initially realized.

    @julietesterman - "pride" is never a good word in the scripture. men should not "take pride" in their appearance - but be thankful and obedient. I personally trim my beard strictly because of my profession. I am "jealous" of those who can just let their's grow fully. Be humble is the complete opposite of taking pride. Taking pride in appearance brings about vanity. I am also pretty sure that's part of the reason God told us not to shave off our beards. It was a pagan vanity to do so.

    The beard issue seems to have taken on a life of it's own. I've watched your videos on this. I agree that our Creator did create beards. This gentleman sees fit to "groom" his and it looks like he has pride in his appearance. An ungroomed look is not ok our culture. Paul, maybe you should consider grooming your beard so that you look like you take pride in what Yashua gave you. We live in the world, we are not of it. Our Lord did not try to stick out like a sore thumb when he walked the earth.

    @AVtheeEvangelist no cause messiah said in matthew 5 17-20 the direct opposite. It is you who messiah died in vain for who use grace as an excuse to sin. Otherwise am i permitted to steal, murder, commit adultery?? Probably not although this is all from the "law". and in the original text not the translation and if you also consider the context you´ll not find that the "law" was done away with. In romans shaul even answers to that question with the words:" God forbid":

    @LawrenceofIsrael Brother your not understanding the context of the passage, not one Jot shall pass away till Jesus will fulfil it, read it again and you will understand, Jesus fulfilled this on the cross as I have already showed you, the new covenant is not the same as the old you need to understand that, the works of the law do not justify us anymore, if circumsion is not needed how then can we keep the law? We are not justified by the Law, you need to understand the Bible as a whole.

      When Jehovah created man, he didn't give him a razor and a can of Barbasol, dude. Adam had a long, beautiful beard and he wore it with pride. Back in the ancient world (and still today), beards were a sign of wisdom, manhood, authority, and maturity. Jehovah did not give us a full beard, so we can destroy it and conform to the world. Shaving and being clean shaven was actually a pagan custom of the Egyptians.

    Joseph shaved, so did the priests at times, as well as Nazarites etc........ You should not be telling people they can't shave and be a Christian.... Nor how or what to dress in as long as it's not provocative....
    People have brains, do not descend into making apparel and hair doctrine.... But that's just me and I've been a Bible student since way before you were born.... Even with 60 years of Bible Study behind me, I do not know all there is to know, and neither do you....
    I really like to listen to you and have learned a lot from you as I have from many people as long as they stick to Scripture, but this the same sort of stuff muslims do.... I would not go that route.....
    The Kingdom of God isn't even about food and drink let alone the way a person drapes cloth on their body or whether or not men wear beards.... I think it seems as though you are setting the men up that they must follow your example.... Not kosher at all.... Keep it to what is sin and what is not sin " according to Scripture" not your own personal preferences..... Next thing you know you will be telling us what colors to wear....
    But otherwise, I agree with most of what you teach.... I think you are very sincere, but are becoming sidetracked....

      I have a beard and long hair and am circumcised but agree the Lord is more concerned about the circumcision of our hearts than the circumcision of our parts. Many men with long beards and long hair sin. I used to sin badly with a beard and hair.
      I am only made righteous by faith in Yeshua and his blood. The Pharisees and Sadducee’s had it all but Yeshua called them vipers. I do not see hair or beards in the Ten Commandments and it was used for purification. Num. 8:7; 8:18, Acts 21:24 for non Jew Believers. Physical appearance has some importance. I purposely don’t dress as a gangster. If I were naturally bald Or can’t grow a beard or have cancer do I walk in shame or sin?

      @@russelltrujillo2772 Everyone in religion seems to want to have a niche to set them apart and be noticed.... That's not a judgement but just an observation....

    Ok from what I understand and please correct me if I am wrong. It says nothing about how short you can have your beard but it says you can't trim the borders of your beard... meaning you can't shape your beard. Tell me if this is correct?

    The "corners" or defining edge of a mans beard are Gods design just for you...and it's perfect!!! To attempt to redefine the "shape" of your beard is vanity and rebellion. This gift that God gave us men is special on a personal level and to wear the gift is to say thank you:)

  • @LawrenceofIsrael

    CONTINUING: and this is only one verse. Yes we are saved by grace which is what gets us out of "prison" but if you are saved from prison and commit a crime again what is going to happen?? you´ll go back to prison again. It is said that if we love yeshua we´ll keep his commandments and his yoke is sweet and light.
    The "messianic" brothers and sisters love yeshua more than their lifes and thus we keep what he kept to please our creator. and everybody is invited to join this covenant.

    It amuses me to hear military men condemn beards as looking unprofessional. Yet if you look at paintings of civil war soldiers they are often bearded and look just fine. No need though to bring in the Bible. Groom your beard any way you like it. By the way, shaving doesn't "destroy" your beard.For that you need electrolysis.

    Yeah that one is also speaking about doing it for the dead:
    Lev 19:27 ‘Do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of your beard.

      Interesting little word, "and"...
      If one takes into account that the verses were not divided and numbered until much, much later, then the two verses are actually joined up.
      That would make it about not following the pagan rituals for the dead, which is much more in keeping with God's law and character, (no other gods before Me.) than being a style tyrant.
      ( quickly ducks for cover!)

  • @moisesg.v.1575
    @moisesg.v.1575 8 років тому +14

    The context in Leviticus 19:26-28 is not about not being able to shave or cut your beard, it is about NOT doing it for THE DEAD, same as marking your flesh with tattoos or cutting yourself for the same purpose. It was a pagan ritual so God said not to do the same. So we can shave and trim our beards no problem, as long as we do not do that FOR THE DEAD, according to the context of the Scripture. In fact the method those pagans used was by burning and ripping off their beards and hair in a satanic/crazy way. Context is everything

      +Rhaj Paul In Hebrew there is a different word for shaving/removing hair. The verb used here is about destroying, harming, ripping off, it's not talking about shaving. Two different verbs, two different purposes. I agree though that men should have beards, as a sign of their masculinity given by the Creator, you can trim it, short, long, etc, but it is a part of you. I would not make it a legal obligation, but a highly recommended option. I do have a beard, sometimes very short, others long, but I trim it and keep it tidy, not crazy to the point that looks not taken care of, that is as bad. I believe God made a distinction between men and women, and this is just one (I know there are men with very little facial hair and women with too much, but that's because of hormonal and genetic problems and that's not the norm among humans). Nature made by our Creator speaks for itself.

    Isn't not trimming the beard (shaping) and a head covering (women) signs of humility and lessons against vanity?

    If Jesus and the Apostles were not compelled to spend any time discussing this topic. Then why do you strain at gnats? I guess you guys have more understanding than all the authors of the new testament....

    Gal5
    2] Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised,
    Christ shall profit you nothing.
    [3] For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
    [4] Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
    [6] For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
    Circumcision dose not availeth/justify us now, why would beards?

    @LawrenceofIsrael Matthew 5:17-18
    [17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFIL.
    [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.
    When did Jesus Fulfil the Law brother?
    Colossians 2:14
    [14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

    @LawrenceofIsrael If Paul said that he would not be a deceiver, if you use the Law to justify yourself then Christ died in vain for you, and you have fallen from grace, Paul wrote that also by the way

      I have come to think the grace was the Father sending in HIS first begotten son to bring us the truth knowing that in doing so it would cost him his life. We are saved not by a grace other then this, for Yeshua didnt die to cover over your transgressions but to in fact show you the way to life. If you do not follow nor hear the truth then you'll fall into the great deception, i.e. that someone else may pay the penalty for your sin. Therefor repent and turn from your sins so that you may have eternal life.
      Something else I think is way overlooked is all the times people were astonished or challenged Yeshua he told them flatly, I speak not my own words but the words of the Father in heaven... you see, he gave his life freely over to the Father's will alone to the point that not even his words were his own. Sooooo, when the Messiah says to you I am the way the truth and the life it was no man saying this to you, but in fact the Father telling you the only way to HIM is to come to HIM, that you'll find no other truth outside of HIM and life exists inside of HIM alone. This had nothing to do with the vessel that was Yeshua, other then he was this chosen prophet to deliver HIS message. These were the words of the Most High spoken merely thru the son of man so that you may know HIM.
      If you hear without hearing then you'll not realize many things that are somehow imparted onto the character of the prophet as his own action or deed. I.E. when the messiah left the disciples he gave them a warning about who would deceive them, that is, there would be those who come in HIS name and tell you that HE is HE, that these people would be the ones that deceived many. IN THE NAME OF YHWH WOULD THEY BE DECEIVED!!! Again I tell you, Yeshua's words were not his own and this is how you could know the Father thru him. This is why you hear the pain when they asked Yeshua to show them the Father and HE replied, ....."have I not been among you so long that you don't know me?"
      If you can realize that all of this is the case then things become much more clear. This is why Yeshua taught the commandments, this is how he had the power to forgive sin.... for only the one sinned against has the right to forgive the transgression. This is how you'll be able to see and know a prophet, because a prophet speaks not his own words but the Father thru him... there will be no contradiction and what is spoken will come to pass. In this truth you can come free and discard this dispensationalism nonsense and the antichrist that was Paul. The sacrifice is the abomination that causes desolation, and when you see this thing standing again in the HOLY place flee to the mountains as you were forewarned.

      There is NO,salvation by works..that is a fatal doctrine and takes away from the perfect work of Yeshua. His atonement for man was complete, our walk determines our REWARD...not our salvation. Works based salvation is the same doctrine of devils the RCC teaches!

    @jamnat7 - anyone who does anything contrary to God's instruction is in rebellion against Him... if you don't understand that then I don't know what to say. Yes I have done some of the things listed... and I know I am worthy of death... that's why I can receive the gift of salvation and a new life... so that I could repent - which means to turn away from my rebellion. What you call a "stupid argument" is actually the foundation of our relationship with God.

  • @Amidat
    @Amidat 13 років тому

    @jamnat7 - if you can't grown one that is not sin... the prohibition is for those who can and do. you must "rightly divide the word of truth". You can make a mock at the instructions of God if you want... but I won't be a part of it. The apostle Paul clearly stated it's shameful for a man to have long hair (commonly known among the Hebrews). The Torah clearly says not to put markings on your body. To quote Paul's words to the Corinthians "examine yourself to see if you be in the faith".

    @AVtheeEvangelist you´re right messiah fulfilled what we did not. but matthew says: 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

    @AVtheeEvangelist and that is what christians always do. You read to verse 18 and stop to support your anti torah teachings.if you continue reading you´ll see that like it is also said in luke 16, 17 it is easier that heaven and earth shall pass away than one jot of the law being taken away. And i ask once again. Am i permitted to steal, murder, covet etc? If not why not?? this is from the law but you said i am free from the law and just gotta have faith.
    Pleas respond especially to that.

  • @LawrenceofIsrael
    @LawrenceofIsrael 14 років тому

    @jamnat7 the law is in your heart if you are grafted into israel and keep it. Yeshua came to turn us into the status of genesis 1,27 which means that we are purified from the evil we have done. Since we still can distinct between good and evil and since heaven and earth (luke 16,17) are still here the "law" is what we have to keep and you can not prove the opposite with the translated bible verses cause we need to understand the original language and the context. And love means to keep the law.

  • @LawrenceofIsrael

    @ssssaaafff because what you just said is complete nonsense. The word goy means nation and in the bible the nation of israel is refered to as goy as well. But i agree the talmud is an evil book. Apart from that shaving is forbidden by the creator and as we the believers try to please him we follow what he says. May he forgive me and all my brothers and sisters.

  • @Amidat
    @Amidat 13 років тому

    @AVtheeEvangelist - you are incorrect... it does not say not one jot or tittle will fail until Jesus fulfilled on the cross. All in the Torah and the prophets has NOT been fulfilled and will not be until He comes again and the Father puts all enemies under His foot.

  • @Amidat
    @Amidat 13 років тому

    @faxchase - not true.. men are not supposed to have long hair... only women. Conversely, men are not supposed to shave their heads bald either (which was a pagan practice for worship).

      There's actually nothing in the Torah that says women must cover up. As a Rabbi who follows the teachings of Yeshua of Nazareth (so I guess you could call me a Jewish Christian), I think and teach that it's totally up to the individual woman to decide what's best for her. If you would like to wear one, then by all means do it, but don't feel you have to in order to be considered a good believer. Shalom.
