I am surprised that the modified drop with 3ish episodes at once followed by weekly isn't more popular.
Personally I often wait to watch until I can binge everything (unless I think it's impossible to avoid major spoilers) but from a studio perspective the on going "watercooler" conversations as marketing is missing.

Talking about weekly vs all at once with a show something I've noticed with Prime is that they'll release a whole first season at once but of it gets a second season they seem to drop the first 3 then weekly or just weekly. I think they do it that way so people can make up their mind on a full season to get people hooked and then they can drip feed us. But idk that's just a theory an Amazon Prime theory!!!
I can't do weekly. I need it all at once so I can be done with it and move on lol
If I can remember correctly Prime released The Boys season 1 all at once in the begining too so that might be why they released Fallout all at once. But also unlike The Boys in 2019, Fallout is much popular IP so it really doesnt make sense why they relased all at once.

I don't mind if a show does like a two episode release for the new season and then shifts to one new episode every week. It looks like for Season 4 it will be a 3 episode drop then weekly.
Cuz I agree It is so hard to avoid spoilers if you don't take the time out to immediately binge everything. At least with the weekly we could be like oh my God episode 5 insane and stuff like that.

I agree with you 100% Nerdy... Netflix really started the whole idea of binging entire seasons of series simply because that was what they had been doing with all of the licensed content they had built their streaming business on. How much money have they wasted by not giving shows a chance to find an audience - "they" being any streamer that drops original series seasons at a time. They usually stop promoting a series once it drops unless it happens to find an audience very quickly.
I don’t think they’ve wasted anymore with the binge releases, yes some shows probably would’ve done better and caught on with a weekly release but the binge watch formula has also helped many shows explode in popularity and get way more buzz in a short period of time because the ability to watch it all. Netflix has crazy amounts of data and analytics so they definitely know what they’re doing. So while it’s not for everyone the binge model is incredibly popular and has been extremely successful for Netflix, there is a reason they absolutely dominate every other streamer in viewership and they’re still adding more subs even tho they have more of the streaming market share. The binge model helped shows like stranger things and especially squid game and Wednesday become all time huge hits. Even not talking about just Netflix Amazon just released all of fallout at once which definitely helped the show become a ginormous hit and their biggest show ever.

Hard disagree on the weekly release just give me the show all at once because that's what streaming was made for if i want one episode per week I'll go back to regular tv.droping all episodes at once never ruined our enjoyment for stranger things or Sandman or any show on Netflix and it wont with other streaming services
Weekly release is better for the show since for the 8 weeks its on air everybody gonna talk about it/ theorize and its gonna create more buzz for the show.

@@psycho9815 How can you say there is no evidence? Even Stranger Things is now releasing in two parts so they can strech it out. Weekly tv clearly creates more buzz for the show. Take the newest show Shogun for an example, no was talking about the show before and if it was dropped all at once still there would have been that much of a buzz. By dropping weekly, it builds it audience and by the time the finale comes everybody are caught up.
@@tharukaepaarachchi6110 stranger things was the longest series Netflix ever had in terms of runtime so the split was due to time and technical difficulties not because they were trying to generate so arbitrary hype , Netflix is the biggest streaming platform and yet they release all their episodes at once.with as many TV shows being released monthly people are gonna talk about something else regardless of the release schedule of a show and I've yet to see practical evidence to support the fact that shows released weekly do better than shows released at once if anything it's been shown that they do similar numbers and it all just depends on the type of show and how good it is

All cards on a table. Supes didn't need to hide their dark secrets anymore. So it's logical. And this is just a trailer, they probably showing just first few episodes.

Now it feels like the creators are just showing cool action and scream at you what is bad and what is good instead of at least trying to make you think a little. But again, it’s probably just me. Plus yeah, it is just a trailer
To be honest, it was never very subtle. Not saying that's a good or a bad thing, but they were always very obvious with what real-life event they're referencing.

They've always been very clear about the themes of this show and somehow plenty of people think it's something different than it is
Sounds like you have a personal problem. I far prefer the mass drop at once, because I'll binge it if it's good. Traditional way is just cable all over again and that shit sucks. Sorry it isn't good for your views but you definitely don't speak for most consumers.

I don't mean this as a personal insult. But I feel like this is the less mature perspective. All the goodness all at once is instant gratification. I used to be inclined to receive content that way. But I don't think it's good. You don't remember it.. You don't experience it with others as well. You don't process the story like you should. Like, I just binged 3 Story Problem last week and I think it was good but I barely remember it.
@@qscott777 No offense taken, but I don't think there's any validity to your contentions. Firstly, what's wrong with instant gratification? Secondly, I have no problems remembering shows I binge, at least not any more than I do watching weekly releases. I binged Fallout last month and enjoyed it thoroughly and still remember everything. Same with Stranger Things which I binged ages ago. I also don't see how having the option to watch it all at once precludes the possibility of watching it with others. The great thing about it being released all at once is that I get to choose when and whom I watch it with.
@@tablesalt2628 there are a lot of problems with instant gratification. Most aren't really relevant here. Honestly, it has to do with maturity and self discipline. But I'll remark on the part that is relevant here. As Nerdy mentioned, weekly drops are better for this kind of content. Periodic episodes are better for this kind of community in general. Each episode getting its own buzz and discussion is FAR better than entire season drops. I watched 3 Body Problem and Fallout a couple weeks ago. Some of my friends are getting around to it now and I'm over it so we won't ever discuss. It's just far more logical to release episodes weekly and let the hype build in between. Thus the benefit to delayed gratification.
You both make valid points, from the perspective of the viewer. From the perspective of a network/streaming service, I don't understand releasing it all at once. After 2 years and 100+ mln usd, working on a new season, it just dies after a week. Everyone has binged it instantly, you have instant reviews of the whole season. People who want to watch slower need to work hard to avoid spoilers for the ending. Having that week to week makes the show live longer on social media and so on. You have those week to week discussions, predictions what will happen next, and then the finale day is like an event where eveybody tunes in at the same time. The week to week just makes the show feel "bigger".
Personally, I like what the Boys do - 3 episodes to start with to get a chunk of the story, then week to week.
@@nth_to_see_here It's interesting because Jonathan Nolan, who was behind Fallout, championed the all-at-once release, because he didn't want the weekly speculation and the inevitable unrealistic expectations it brings with it.
Sorry, Nerdy, WEEKLY EPISODES ARE BULLSHIT! I paid for a subscription and I want to watch the entire series I'm paying for without waiting. Sorry about your views, but I'm fed up with this episode once a week crap. If I wanted one episode a week I'd just watch regular shit TV on the air.
