With all do respect, you should do research before putting out dangerous misinformation about this lifesaving medication that does not impair and helps recovering addicts to go on and live functional and fulfilling lives. It is interesting to watch these hearings, but your commentary is lacks compassion and empathy. Why are you so opposed to addicts in recovery take a medication that keeps them from relapse. Also, a addict coming out of prison is at the highest risk of overdose and death. When prescribed Suboxone that risk is greatly reduced. This medication takes away cravings and also reduces the effect of opiates. Why are you so dead set on prisoners being weaned off before getting out?

Mandoo, I'm saying this respectfully because I'm sure you're just not aware.
But the stigma surrounding medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, KILLS people.
Many people remain on maintenance doses of Suboxone for decades. They continue to work, manage responsibilities at home, enjoy healthy relationships and satisfying careers, and function successfully with the help of ongoing Suboxone therapy.
It is viewed as a medication for a chronic condition, similar to a person with type 1 diabetes needing to take insulin. To say that you aren't really in recovery if you are on Suboxone is stigmatizing to people who take Suboxone, and it's not the medical reality of effective addiction treatment.
Research shows that long-term treatment with Suboxone significantly improves outcomes compared to short-term treatment, and saves lives.
Buprenorphine does not cause a euphoric high like heroin or other opioids..it is only a "partial" agonist of the main opiate receptor (the "mu" receptor).
Unfortunately, within the addiction community and among the public at large, certain myths about Suboxone persist, and these myths add a further barrier to treatment for people who are suffering.

They really need to know more about medications to get off drugs and how the urine testing works if they are going t base their decisions on what they do not know. If her medication caused her to have positive test results then all her test results would be positive, not just 6. When you take suboxone or methadone you take it every day, i mean you might rarely miss a day but that’s it. If you miss 3 doses in a row they cut you off because you build up to your dose gradually and it is dangerous to miss 3 days and then take a full dose. Which means if you are on one of those types of medications you will always test positive for those meds. But their tests do check for what you have taken, not just that you took something. I have been on methadone for 12 years, clean within 3 months of going on it, and i know a lot of other people on it, those rules are laid out by the government and all clinics follow thm.

Subuxone and methadone are medicines that help addicts stay away from opiates.
      Weed also helps some people.

My 2yr old son climbed up into the cupboard and got into my Suboxone and ate a piece. Within a few minutes he fell asleep and wouldn't wake up. I don't even have words to describe how horrible and terrifying it was. I thought my baby was dying.
I called 911 and they took us to the hospital. Thankfully his vitals were ok.. just a bit slower than normal. Luckily he would only rip off a piece after managing to open that nearly impossible wrapping, so he only went into a small coma. CPS recognized it wasn't one of those "big deal" comas when they came to the hospital. They were very understanding, just like in your case. Crazy as it sounds, at first they wanted to say it was a toddler overdoses and child neglect!! But after I explained that it was just a silly accident, they realized it was a big fuss over nothing. We left the hospital the next day and never heard from CPS again. My baby is grown now , he's a trapeze artist and a member of his area Mensa chapter.. obviously

It's quite common for people to be preoccupied in their own lives and not willing to help until it's to late and they have to help. It's also common for drug addicts and even functional people to avoid asking for help as it's a burden to others and will also create feelings of judgement that can lead people to strong aversions towards asking for help. Saying that you've been clean for seven years even though you've been on pot and suboxone the whole time because you had permission to use those things is like saying that you've been sober for seven years because all that liquor you drank didn't violate any laws. It's just not what sober means, and it's just not what "clean" means.

I agree. She is also finding a way to pass her urine tests by using someone’s clean urine In my opinion because she is all over the place. And I feel like once she gets out of the halfway house in 3 months then goes on to start her 3 years of probation and no longer has the free meals and shelter then the overwhelming stress of having to keep her job with nowhere to live and even if she gets a place having so many responsibilities of working and suddenly having to pay rent and food and being on probation with all the stipulations i can guarantee she will relapse. I think it’s a horrible idea that they let her leave in 3 months. She will literally be homeless because her aunt can’t take her so where will she go?

@GigglingHamster a half way house is a tool, you learn responsibility, how to be on time, have a set routine in place, you work while you stay there & they help w resources for transportation, government assistance, shes proven she can’t follow authority or rules, that she isn’t ready for sobriety, sadly it may take bring at rock bottom so far down she can never recover to realize. she’s actively high as hell fighting the nod during the call. you use every resource you can & really take the chance given to you/opportunity for it to better you, like she said she’s defiant, and clearly she hasn’t made any improvements, i have no idea why they didn’t acknowledge her being high, failing 6 tests, as recently as the week before the hearing, hoarded her medication rather than taking it (bc u can’t get high on opiates on that med) so she skipped many doses, could be selling & trading them too. there’s not much you can do tho, forcing her into impatient treatment would fail as well if she isn’t ready & willing & fed up w the cycle.

Hi Mandoo. Responding to 1:05:38 - if I'm not mistaken the Board avoided saying the victims' names, even in the order to stay away ("no contact with the family members of the victim initials D.S."). I wonder if the offender was told to keep the names of the victims out of the public hearing?

I have been sober since 11-17-18 and 100% agree with the medical marijuana thing for people in “early recovery/monitored/forced recovery.” Recovering addicts should be 100% clean for 12+ months before being prescribed marijuana or controlled substances besides opiate blockers. I was sober for 3 years before addressing my ADHD struggles with my doctor. The first lady is pathetic…watching 2nd now

Why didn't the cops arrest her for beating the kid? That was a criminal referral that the cops didn't act. They passed the buck to CPS, who has no authority to do anything without a family court judge signing orders to remove the kids. You're ripping on the caseworkers for "monitoring" but until a Judge orders CPS to REMOVE the kids CPS literally has no authority to do anything but "encourage" parents to work with them and the services they are getting referred to.

Just a thought about the last woman Ms Robinson and the suboxone she is been taking since she’s been in prison.
Let’s keep in mind the State has been prescribing and paying for this highly addictive drug for countless people. . I imagine she chooses to take it and is calling it maintenance. Or is it considered “complying” by taking it?
Suboxone is said to be as difficult to come off of as any of the other opioids.
Sure sounds like the State is playing a big role in that particular part of the multitude of issues at hand.

I was wondering the same thing. I wasn’t sure if she started it in prison or at the halfway house. If she started after prison, that was a huge mistake. She’s setting herself up for needless withdrawals when she’s already been through them. I’ve been on it for 7 years. One of the rehabs I went to started subscribing soboxon ( I was already on it)
To people that didn’t need to be. Opioids wasn’t even their drug of choice, but would hear about when they got there and requested it. They were selling them and others were getting sick because they weren’t used to taking stuff that strong. It was a mess.
