In 1838, about 170 years ago, the portable shrine of Samukawa Shrine was on its way back to the Kounomachi (Kokufu Festival) [Kokufu Hongo, Oiso Town], which is held every spring, when a dispute broke out between Samukawa and local shrine parishioners at the Sagami River ferry, and the parishioners fell into the river and went missing. A few days later, Magoshichi, a netter in Minamiko, found the sacred body while fishing and delivered it to the Samukawa Shrine, which led to the annual "misogi" of the shrine's portable shrine, which goes to the beach of Minamiko to thank the shrine for their help.
