This is fantastic news! I have been following you for years and lusting after your figs because of your videos. I am 73 and ihave 100 in ground figs and would like to get some of your special figs to add to my addictlon. I'm running out of time to get cuttings going and get them in the ground. Please make this happen. Perhaps Bill from off the beaten path could help. Hire a kid to help prune and make cuttings and then UPS boxes of cuttings to Bill to distribute. Could your son use some extra money?
    Just throwing out ideas.

Hi sir, I have been following your videos for about 18months now and this is my first time commenting. I have learned so much from listening to your lectures. Sometimes I would watch your videos over the winter months just to learn a few tips to get myself ready for Springs. I bought my first fig tree in October of 2022 and I have about 30 varieties now. I live in San Francisco where the weather is very mild (mostly in the 60 degrees range) and foggy, not the best for growing figs. I agreed with you about not chasing after variety names but I’m just trying to find a few varieties that grow well in my climate. You have made it very clear in your videos that you don’t sell cuttings and I totally respect that. However, I just noticed a seller on figbid selling “Chincoteague Celeste discovered by Lou Monte” so I thought I let you know. I think he might even spelled your last name wrong. The seller’s name is DarylMc located in Berlin, MD. Anyways, I look forward to more fig topic videos from you now that fig season has started for you. I have only tasted brebas of Olympian, Improved Celeste and RDB this year so far.

Hey Lou: Another entertaining video. I know how you feel about wasting cuttings. I sell on figbid and trade with people locally and on ourfigs but I always have extra. I have some local high schools with agriculture /4h programs and give them the extra cuttings to root and sell from their greenhouses.

    Good day sir,
Just beginning to grow figs and Chicago is the only one I can get in Tennessee. Many others are difficult to find. If you find it within your growing professionalism to send clippings to me. I miss growing plants and figs seem to be very interesting and enjoy the one so far. God blessings and thank you for sharing your experience. Enjoy what makes you happy sir.

Although I have 80+% of the strains you have(a lot based on your suggestions)… as a fan it would be nice to have some cuttings from your trees for sentimental reasons and to keep your name/lessons alive for the rest of my life when I talk about them to friends/family/neighbors I share figs and plants with. Also your strains may taste better than the strains I have. Thanks for your videos.

Another great video Lou! Would love to see a video on growing a persimmon from the start. Do you just let it grow for the first couple years then start to prune it or do you help it along the way? Do you keep everything going straight up or will the tree find it on its own? Just all in all how to care for a young persimmon I have a bunch now all with in 1-3 years old and want to make sure I’m not hindering the trees in any way. Thanks all the best

Good looking figs. This is my first year growing figs. It started when I got cuttings from my grandparents homestead. Celeste and Brown Turkey. So happy I was able to get them. I’ve bought a number of other varieties and a very generous friend mail me several varieties too. I’ve been checking into the LSU varieties and Ronde De Bordeaux and Peters Honey. Nice collection Lou, hopefully one day I can have a collection to pass on too, especially my grandparents even though very common they are priceless.

Another great video Lou. I commented a few videos back about people wanting to acquire your heirloom strains and I'm glad you're not pressured. It should be when it feels right.
I had several trees a few years ago that were healthy and then I got more cuttings from someone nearby that obtained them from reputable sources. I ended up getting some with obvious FMV and also fig mites. I'm using it as an opportunity to do some testing. I feel I will have to get rid of all of them and start over with a disease free source.
I think the current environment with making money on fig trees has fueled selling unhealthy material.
I generally gift and trade but now with this problem I'm trying to contain it.
Anyway, if you ever felt up to it I'd be honored to meet you someday. I know you're fairly private for obvious reasons but maybe at some kind of fig meeting.
As always l look forward to your wealth of knowledge.

Hi Lou, when you decide to sell, I would love to buy 5 of each variety that you grow. I’m thinking that way it’ll make it easier than buying 1 variety at a time. ❤

Do you have a video talking about planting next to the house like this?
I've suggested to friends that they can plant a fig next to the house. When I try to look it up online to assure them that the fig is unlikely to damage a foundation the AI generated returns are completely useless.
If you ever sell any figs, spreading the one you've got (celeste?) That is a bit different would be nice to duplicate just for genetic safety. 😊

Fig bid is ridiculous with prices and bidding wars. The prices are sad and I feel many should be given away or sold at a nominal cost if growers have a plethora of them.

Have you had kidney stones? I read figs are high in oxalate.
