Very good presentation and very informative.
Granted this is not news to me , but still very informative
It still is a pity that
    A) I'm the only reply here
    B) More NBN Technicians are not paying attention to this sort of stuff, Especially since NBN Co. has made the upgarde to DOCSIS 3.1
    C) it's also a pity that most technicians can't understand the DOCSIS 3.1 Profile because they didn't bother to get the foundational informaiton of the ONX-620 when they had the chance
Most don't understand the definition of Amplitude, let alone be able to explain to you the difference Between B.E.R. Pre and Post and be able to explain what B.E.R. is
Now they are getting dumped into this level and asked to understand concepts like Codewords, Uncorrectable Errors CWE , PLC and so on
    Like i said.... Great Presentation
    Pity they won't understand it
oh well..... it is what it is

Agreed that it is disappointing most techs don’t dig into this stuff. I’ve been a technician for just over a year now, so definitely still new to this. I certainly have a mountain of stuff to learn going foreword, but I’ve been trying to dig into resources to acquire additional knowledge. Almost all the residential technicians I work with neglect to check our OFDM block when performing internet trouble calls on homes with 3.1 modems. They continue to check our default docsis test frequency that has been used in the past. That test frequency is a channel bonding frequency though, and isn’t used by our 3.1 modems. I asked another tech why no one bothers to check the OFDM block, and he told me everyone was trained to use the default frequency, and that’s just how it’s always been. I feel many just didn’t understand the initial explanation of some of these concepts. And then rather than looking into it and asking questions to clear it up, they just reverted to the old methods they already knew. Regardless, videos such as this are very helpful in the process of becoming a better technician.
