No, port and starboard never change, no matter which way you look at it, that’s why it’s port and starboard, not left and right 😂
Please stick to vans and stay away from ocean going vessels. 😂
Great content as usual. Me and the wife are following your videos closely. Keep up the good work. 👍🏽
Had a Cabbunk for a couple of years now for my twins in my Merc V-Class blokPod. Works a treat once you get the hang of putting it up and taking it down quickly…
I think you do a lot of your selves. And it’s important to know what you can do and don’t know how to do. Better to delegate than to screw up. So well done!
I did think for a moment that Shaun had little tiny plaits coming down from behind his ears!! Then I put my glasses on 🤪
Great idea for bunks
A RAM Promaster is a variation of the Stellantis Fiat Ducato which has been supplied in the States for many years.
That’s an interesting bunk bed solution I’ve never seen before. Definitely looking into it so we can do a local summer camp with two granddaughters but of course leave the Crafter on the pitch whilst we use our car as transport 😃👍🏻 Trev
I’ve had a Sprinter for over 7 years and it’s had various additions over time. That Cabbunk looks great and may come in handy for us, now we have two kids. Also, I had no idea why I occasionally get water leaking into the cab. It’s so obvious now. Great content 👍🏻
Thank you very much Dave. Really appreciate it
Just got a cab bunk for my Ducato based van a couple of weeks ago and tried it out with my 8 year old granddaughter. We found that the hammock isn’t quite comfortable enough to sleep on as is, even with the seat backs reclined back to tighten it up, so I got a piece of 75mm foam cut to size as a mattress and that did the trick 👍
By the way, the “Dodge Ram Promaster” is the American market version of the Ducato, but with a petrol engine as diesel isn’t really a thing there, and given the mandatory macho name that seems to be necessary for marketing there.
Thanks for the heads up 👍
Love it!
Thinking about buying it for the dogs , because they love chilling in a hammock🤭
Watching with great interest because we have the same issue have to fit a 14 year old an 11 year old and 6 year old all in plus 2 dogs!!
Mad idea, and you did it yourself 😂, as Lizi once said you can pug your least favourite child on the top bunk lol
Love the intro!😂😂😂
I know absolutely nothing about camper vans but came across one of your videos and was hooked. I’ve enjoyed your travels and am now enjoying your self build. Shaun, when do you envisage finishing the build and going on a trip as a family of four (five with Bentley)? As another viewer said, Lizzy we miss you - eventhough you’re behind the camera! 🤣
That’s so kind thank you so much!
That’s a great idea
Have fun getting it back in the bag!
It’s actually super easy to get back in the bag!
Great idea....and you managed to do it as well 😅💯
That's some great editing! #saynotovanbuilderscrack
What a great idea 👍
we have been using the single Cabbunk for about a year now for our daughter, takes less then 5 mins to set up or take down
Tell Lizzy “she is missed, by me! And I’m sure that echo’s with the audience too. But stay in the background until you are ready.”
Brilliant intro 😂
While this is a really neat product (and I don't mean to keep poking holes in your ideas), from experience, one of the best things about having a large van is having room for fixed beds that you don't have to make up and pack down each night. There are some great layouts for your size van which feature fixed beds for two children either above or below the adults bed which would give them their own permanent cosy space (sacrificing garage space perhaps). However, I'm sure you are aware of this and feel happy with having to do the extra work, I just wanted to add my opinion. It all depends on personal preference. As always... love the channel... great work on the conversion for far.
Never looks any different when I watch these videos 😅
Slightly over 70kgs? About 9 over?
A Ram Promaster is the same as the Fiat Ducato jut rebadged
Lol, ya, I would say the same thing to that comment too
…….it wasn’t me, was it?😂
Hi can I please have the part number for the pliers you used for the roof liner / How much to sell them cheers
Will have to check their website. Only my twin passenger seat swivels though so wonder if they cover that variant.
Hi, there is a special 'Three Headrest Twin Cabbunk' but you need to add a swivel to your driver's seat. (Widely available).
Great to see you back. I bought a Cali Beach last year. I always had a desire to try and better the VW design, and also save a bit of cash. But I always suspected that it would be a bigger job than expected, I am so glad I didn't start one.
A massive amount of work, YOU ARE VERY BRAVE!
Could I ask please, is there a way of ensuring that as you are building, there won't be any rattles or squeaks when all the bits are built in?
Keep going, it will all be worth it😎
Ha ha, it sure is a huge job. The best way that we are trying to mitigate rattles and squeaks is by using the vehicle occasionally during the build. It's interesting how the sound of the internals changes constantly as we go through the build so it's a case of build, test, work out where the new squeak is coming from, fix it and build again. Never ending process. Thank you very much for watching
Good idea, I hope it goes well. It will be a work of art
The "Very Fat" comment made me chuckle 🤪
I mentioned the lack on insulation on GC owners group and a member said they have looked into that area of roof and there is insulation - albeit not that great. Also on GC they cut off factory steel roof and fit new fibreglass roof.
I think it’s just the 600 that has the fibreglass roof and not the 680
680 also has factory roof removed and higher one fitted, so fibreglass too I thought
Love your videos
Definitely insulating my cab
Never crossed my mind 🙏
Could I please ask where u got single passenger seat ?
Thank you very much for watching. We ordered the van with one passenger seat from the factory I’m afraid
Dodge Ram Promaster is what the Americans call the fiat Ducato/boxer/Relay triplets
You’ve done plenty to this conversion Shaun, you’ve just fitted a set of bunk beds also 🤣🤣
Nice to see the ID Buzz in the intro! Do you guys have one on order? ⚡⚡
No we don’t have one on order
Are you going sailing? Looks like you have a life jacket 🛟 on 😂
Can never be too safe!
To me, setting up the beds on cold, windy, wet night is going to be a pain, but it's not my choice. Hoping it works for you.
It beats sleeping in a pop top though. Thanks for watching 👍
Looks a bit 💩to me nothing to stop kids falling out and too much faff to put up
Hi, the bunks are naturally self-centring and you use the seat recline controls to add sag for younger ones. The natural inclination is to set them up to look flat/taut on video, but in actual use they have a natural curve that is incredibly hard to roll against.
My granddaughter can night fit a single in 35 seconds and a twin bunk system in under two minutes. Also, you stay for longer periods when you take young ones along, so fitting and removing isn't every night...
those cab beds look a total faff . Try doing it in the dark and cold lol
We have lights and a heater.
Hi dudes
How did you close in the bulkhead edges..it looks like original …
We specced our van with a bulkhead delete from factory so it comes with the surrounds already 👍
@@ABusAndBeyond Thank you
You've had the Crafter for a little while now, any advice on finding a campervan in conversion insurance that will cover a longer conversion time than 90 days? Or any advice on insurers at all for van conversions? Cheers guys 🤘
Adrian flux do a full year policy for conversions in progress, they have a terrible reputation for customer service and claim settlements but at least with them you aren’t turning the build into race, three months is never enough.
Personally I did not waste money insuring both my vans during the builds, they were both sorned for the duration.
have to say - The Cabbunk system looks OK IF you have two single seats - the version for the double seat is AWFUL and I genuinely regret buying it - there is no adjustment in the double seat so its impossible to tension the beds on that side in any way, so the unfortunate person in the lower bunk ends up squashed by the person in the top (yes even after adjusting the heights to maximum gap). the way I get round it now, is - the cabbunk means you can't get the bolts in the double swivel base (so that's moving around of its own free will) so I wrap a small ratchett strap around the swivel base to hold it still. I have also now separated the lower bed from the upper bed completely (so its like 2 separate units) and as such have managed to increase the gap between them a little, though it also means the velcro straps that hold it don't have velcro in the right places!
Im genuinely shocked that a company can sell this as a working solution. for twin singles it looks fine as you have adjustment on both seats, but don't let them fool you into buying the twin seat version its not fit for purpose.
Your kids will fall out of those bunks
Hi, they didn't get time to show the depth adjustment using the seat recline controls. For younger children you can make the sag greater, like a travel cot. The effect of the sag is self-centring.
could not be bothered doin that every night .
That's funny: special expensive VW pliers for special VW clips but they forgot to insulate that area in the VW Grand California: typical german engineering!
Apparently it is insulated on GC - folk on owners club said, and also GC roof is fibreglass not metal.
😄
