❤I had a ticket to that concert and traveled from Zakopane on a crowded overnight train just to attend it. I got off at the Central station right near The Palace of Culture and Science where the concert was taking place that evening. At 7 am a dense crowd of "hopefuls" extending as far as an eye could see was already surrounding the Palace and I realized that I would not be able to go. I was pregnant; pushing through the crowd was not an option. A friend who got my ticket managed to get in but many ticket holders were not as lucky... Such was Cohen's fame in Poland those days. Today, scrolling through UA-cam for Cohen's music, I found this live recording. Nearly 40 years later, I am finally able to listen to the concert I missed that day. And it is great. Thank you Chopin1995 for posting it and best regards from Montreal :) ❤

Wow, what a story! I love reading concert stories and testimonies, especially from the times before I was born. Fascinating to read about the circumstances of this concert. I'm sorry you couldn't attend the concert despite having a ticket. Hopefully you had a good time in Poland anyway. At least you can finally watch it, after all these years, which is just wonderful. Thank you for this beautiful comment and best regards to you from the south of Poland (not Zakopane, but pretty close anyway) :)

I truly believe the messages in this song were for today, when this planet needs this kind of love in prayer. We are all hurting today. I only hope this whole planet learns the lesson of what life is all about. We all will die somehow some day, but the reason for our coming is to learn to love and care for one another. We are all part of each other we were created for that reason.

I saw Leonard Cohen in Stockholm, SWEDEN. Was it 1982? I recall It was a freezing cold February evening. But, the Concert hall in the center Stockholm city, where Mr Cohen and his band on the stage brought us so much poetry and music. Afterwards Karin and me we drank red wine in her small apartment. A week later a popular Swedish DJ Kjell Alinge (dead and gone like Leonard Cohen) called the Canadian L. Cohen jokingly "LEONARDO COHENSKY" in his popular weekly Eldorado radio program. In the autumn before the cold arrived in 1985 I left Sweden for Bangkok, ASIA. Today I am 72 married and I live in Thailand. Karin found an accountant or maybe an actuary and moved in with him. They live in Stockholm. But, we both remember and cherish LEONARD COHEN!

Only Leonard could speak this eloquently, yet tactfully, about painful history in a country of its origin. Only Leonard could address the nuances of the political situation in 1985 Poland without alienating anyone there. Not only the lyrical and musical genius, but also a superb human being. How lucky for all of us to have experienced him in our lives.

Great job posting, great passion and pride, and a really great visionary Cohen is still by many, favor atop any when you feel deeper than blue raw from the hack saws droning my free land, it is love of freedom,, love of life, and a genuine love of humanity, all of us, I guess, truth is such, that poetry and verse he gives us from his guts, from the core, from the marrow and even deeper- from the soul; makes Leonard Cohen a Sage of my own life. What we know, our struggles make us stronger and hopefully, just better when we leave than how it was when we were born. Brave man; beautiful words. I guess for Mr. Cohen ..."L'chiam". ...To life! With best regards,
For you Chopin... Be well. ~RaVen~

Poznan is awesome. I went there for work, and stopped at a tourist info center to ask if they had a Beksinski painting anywhere; when the lady said his paintings were all in Sanok where he lived, I was shocked she knew who the artist was right away!

Jeśli chciałby Pan zachować ten filmik to polecam go pobrać np. za pomocą chociażby 4K Video Downloader.

To be honest, it hasn't been the best in Poland as well. I mean, I always try to avoid any politics and I usually succeed, because it was never too bad. But since 2020 I'm unable to do so. Our government does some strange and puzzling things.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this peaceful concert.

Hi I think his comment and a prayer at a Shull (Synagogue) for the officials in the Polish gov is a reference to the non-existent Jewish culture and Jewish people who were expelled - thrown out en mass of Poland in 1968 - owing to the then government officials.
