I wish they had used hope longer, you can tell renee liked playing her. It would have been cool if they went a few episodes with hope pretending to be Gabrielle.
I agree. It should have been a two parter. This is a good episode but it wrapped up the season 3 storyline too quickly and season four didn't have much of a good arc to replace it anyway.
@@Nepthu Hercules did say he wanted to deal with Hope after the incident with Callisto so it would be a great idea to have Hope actually go up against Hercules herself.

I have always felt Xena was a far more superior show than Hercules. Just the stories and the characters are so damn good. I love how the writers pushed the envelope by kinda hinting at if Xena and Gabrielle were lovers. Lol imagine if Hercules and Iolis were that close.

In Greek mythology Iolaus was one of Hercules' male lovers actually. Also in Greek mythology Iolaus was also Hercules' nephew, son of his mortal half-brother Iphicles. Yeah, Xena was a better show than Hercules objectively but personally I prefer Hercules. Xena's 5th and 6th seasons weren't that good, the 6th season in particular was awful while the 5th gets a pass due to Lucy Lawless' pregnancy. Also, I've always found it very ridiculous that Xena was able to fight gods and monsters despite being just a mortal though she was awesome when she up against warlords and other mortal villains. Hercules on the other hand had a little more consistency as a show than Xena but it also had a weak season, the 4th, due to Kevin Sorbo's health issues which is also why the 6th season had only 8 episodes.
I prefer Xena as well but Hercules is always to watch as a close second. I think Xena was better due the character being so new than Hercules. Plus Hercules was more mainstream and commercial, they were never gonna keep it original with Hercules having male lovers. Nope. Now Xena? She was a character you would be able to do a lot of things with unlike Hercules. I still like Hercules. I watched it first growing and then Xena was introduced.

Gabby's poor parents. They literally thought Xena had corrupted their little girl.
Well they weren't entirely wrong. True Xena didn't turn Gabrielle evil but Gabrielle's growning aggression throughout the series was due to Xena's influence.

Gabrielle's father really resents Gabrielle going with Xena and doesn't accept and respect her decision.
He probably doesn't see the full picture. Imagine a stranger with checkered past takes your child from the safety of your home to dangerous adventures.
I always got the impression that Gabrielle’s dad thought of Xena as like “the bad boy” and Gabrielle was like the innocent daughter who got swept up into Xena’s path because Xena and Gabrielle are inevitable soulmates

It's not in this scene.......but upload the clip with Xena and Gabrielle's father where she's all....... "so.....how's she been?!" She was trying to hard to get on daddy in law's good side. 😂😂 But like any father.....good luck with that!

Might want to reword your comment but is it possible she’s directly descended from Gabrielle? You never know what happened after Xena ended. I think it’s possible that she found happiness eventually but never forgot her one true love.
