Loved this series! I own a 1989 AE92 sedan myself with the carbureted 4A-F engine, and one day I plan on doing something similar. Though instead of R1 or CBR carbs, I'll be using some KZ900/1000 carbs (aka Mikuni VM26 26mm carbs).
Awesome. Those are good carbs as well. Really they are all pretty similar. Just set em up correctly. Would be awesome to see a 4af on some bike carbs. Tag me once you get that going. Would love to follow that.
@@leveledupgarage5303 Definitely! Sadly it'll be a very long while until I'm able to start on the bike carb swap, but I'll be sure to let you know when I do!
I've ran r1 carbs on everything. No issues. I've heard the same thing about smaller bike carbs as well. I figured guys run weber 40 and 45 on these, so an equal size carb should be fine.
I've talked about this with driving4answers. He seems to think the same thing. I've ran a few different setups and they all feel similar on the butt dyno
how is it to drive with locked ignition? wanna do a bike carb conversion on a k11 micra but wont get the ignition timing to work without getting a new ecu.
What kinda jetting you used, mine tends to run way to lean first and way to rich at full throttle, causing it to misfire between 2k and 3k and then open up, i have the same setup but with honda cbr600 carbs, I've rebuild the carbs but still doing the same things and it doesn't idle as smooth as yours, has a way rougher idle...
hello!! How does the power and throttle response feel? My ignition module stopped working and I want to install carburetors, does it feel good in power? my engine is the same 4age.greetings !!!
Exactly. I'm using a generic gm hei ignition module. Locked the timing around 30° btdc. Eventually it'll get a setup for adjustable timing. For now it works.
Te72 came with the 3tc engine and older style steering box suspension. The ae71/ke70 came factory with rack and pinion steering and the 4ac. Makes it super easy to drop in a 4age.

I was told that carbs from a 600 type motor cycle is sufficient for the stock 4AGE and the carbs from a 1000 or so bike will have issues running

Can you do a more detailed video on fuel line input and electrical! Yes want to see more please
That's exactly what I plan on doin
Curious if you've considered a see of 600cc carbs since from a lot of what I've read the liter bike carbs tend to be a little big for most 4ages

Runs pretty dang good. You lose some bottom end but these cars aren't known for the bottom end anyways.
where is the brak3 booster conjected to
How should I wire up the HEI module?
How did you lock out the timing, if you don't mind me asking?
Did you just run it to an MSD box and coil without the MSD ECU?

Hard to tell about your setup. I use 160 main jets. And raise the needles a bit.
What radiator is that? Trying to find find aluminum radiator that fits in my te72 wagon (5mge swap)
Just the standard ae86 rad from ebay
So no Throttle position sensor? And where dose the fuel go?
Nope. No ecu required.
Fuel is a returnless setuo

It's decent. A little left on the table low end however.

I ended up selling the wagon. I'll get another eventually.
Where'd you get your throttle cable?

Is there a spacer between intake and Head?
No. Though it could probably use it
can you send me some info on the carb set up i would like to see more content for sure.....
They are just yamaha r1 carbs. 160# main jets and 20# pilots, Needles spaced up. Pretty standard and easy modifications.
Hey mate with the intake manifold, did you just use mild steel?, it doesn’t rust out on the inside?
Mild steel. Been using these for years. I paint them. The paint seems to do an OK job at keeping them from rusting.
