Today we are exploring the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40. This 40mm platinum piece has quite a bit a heft to it and weighs over half a pound. The watch wears fairly compact considering its sheer mass and measures 47.5mm from lug to lug. It is quite slim, measuring only 12mm in thickness. The sloped conical bezel makes it easy to slide a dress cuff or tight sleeve over the watch.
The day-date watch is paired with a president bracelet. The bracelet has a polish finish on its flanks and center and satin finish on its outer link tops. All links are solid and the pins joining the links are ceramic coated, preventing the pins and links from becoming worn down. A fully milled out single-fold deployment buckle features a the famed crown clasp mechanism. It features a hinged trigger that deactivates the closure.
The dial is ice blue and laser-etched to create depth and texture. It features a rail-road style minutes outboard as well as polished luminescent indices. The white metal and silver blue dial give the watch a great deal of diversity, making it suitable as a sports or dress watch.
The model has undergone a few changes, including the introduction of the caliber 3255. It has a power reserve of 70 hours thanks to the thinned out mainspring barrel that allows Rolex to fit a larger low-friction mainspring. It meets COSC chronometer certification as well as Rolex's in-house specifications, which are measured after the watch has been cased up.

Isn’t this a Watchbox video? Is Tim also affiliated with Goverb Jewelers?
The speaker is an extremely efficient and effective communicator who is clearly an expert at watches.
How much is this piece…
My understanding is that this watch weighs 15.84 ounces - almost a pound.
My dream watch
Dreams come true!
Thanks for watching!
I ordered today
You’re a lucky guy! How is it?
Love the watch! But platinum scratches super easy, white gold might be a better choice
Rui CoelhoRuiC that is incorrect, PT is much more scratch resistent than red or white gold. I have the 41mm and love it
nope platinum is more durable
I think you confused with titanium
@@epvtrinidad pure platinum is more scratch resistant, than pure gold. However platinum watches are usually 95% platinum and gold watches are only 75% gold which makes the gold watches more scratch resistant in practice.
@@matthiasheuberger952 That’s true! It’s also called the “ Sticky Metal “ coz when you scratch or dent the watch, you’re just moving the metal from one place to another. It’s not coming off like steel or gold. Therefore I guess you can polish it many times without any worry. It doesn’t get better than this in Rolex.
Thank You for saying 'President' and not 'Presidential'. So much ignorance out there.
agreed
I agree! I always hear people calling it the ” presidential “ 🤦♂️. The watch is named the Day Date but the bracelet is named the “ President Bracelet “ by Rolex👍🏻
