People just trying to show how inteligent they are and criticising kalpana character that how she is so dumb to understand sachin is sanjay. Let me tell you the pshycology behind this. A girl who just starts getting extra attention from people just because they think she is sanjay's girlfreind. She is leaving in dream and everything what is coming on her way at that special moment she is just dealing with fear of losing attention. Yhis story is close to my heart. She died without knowing that sachin is sanjay that is the most painful and at the same time strong and emotional base of the story. People just want to see the revenge just because of the innocancy of kalpana's character.
......... Because we LOVED her and we LOVED Kalpana. Put any other actress there, and I wouldn't have been in that much love with the character as I was with Asin in that role. Her being over the top here, is an intentional acting choice. You'll see how drastically the character changes when she ventures into the serious aspects of the movie.
