We hear ya, but the PC is still in both out Tundra and 4Runner and we love it. You definitely can’t replicate the throttle response you get from the Pedal Commander by stepping on the pedal harder. Give it a shot, there’s zero risk. You have 65 days to test drive the product and if you don’t like it for any reason you can return it for a full refund: trailgridpro.com/pedal-commander-shop/
@@TrailGridPro Like most people, I'm not buying it until that answer is honestly provided. I can sell you a pinwheel for your antenna and tell you it will increase MPGs and power with a return return policy, but that doesn't make you think it will work, right?
Just for anyone interested - I have a 21 Tundra TRD Pro - I could not get the pedal commander to not throw codes. Fobs super far away, waiting with the door open, everything. No matter what I did, after install, as soon I fired the truck up - dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Check engine, pre-collision system going off, traction control light, etc. It isn't that big of a deal to undo, you just pull the battery terminal for 10minutes or so and remove the pedal commander and the truck goes back to normal. I did this probably 12 times and always got the same result. Not saying you shouldn't buy it, just saying that it didn't work for me, and if you do indeed have some issues, undoing the codes it throws is a 10minute in your driveway affair.
Hmm, sorry to hear that was your experience! Clearly that didn't happen during out installation and we've installed the Pedal Commander in many 2021's and haven't had that issue. I'd swap out your Pedal Commander for a new one - sounds like something is probably off with it because they typically work perfect!
Question - Everything I see about the pedal commander is for "instant response" or "snappy response". We have a 2012 Tundra 5.7L and I find the accelerator pedal is too touchy when we launch from a stop, the truck is too digital, meaning even when we try to launch smoothly it will jerk and dump anything from the dash console; it is hard to launch smoothly in out stock Tundra Limited 5.7. I am wondering if using this in city with a low response setting would help the truck launch "smoother" without becoming a slug. We also tow a travel trailer which I use the trailer mode that is built into the truck, would you recommend using the pedal commander in place of or with the trailer mode?
So, all good questions. We found the stock throttle response to be slow that doesn’t have a jerk to it which is why we added the Pedal Commander to give it more of a throttle response. It’s interesting that you find yours to be not very smooth as stock. It’s certainly possible the Pedal Commander could level it out - but from our experience with Toyota’s and PC’s the addition of the PC gives it a quicker respond in City, Sport and Sport+ and a slower response in Eco which saves MPG’s. Sorry, not sure if that’s helpful but that’s our experience!
Like you said, City on the lowest setting or even Eco mode could possibly help with the jerky launch. When towing, you could turn the PC off or use it along with the built in Trailer mode.
Mark i just upgraded from a 2012 Tundra Crewmax to the 2018 Tundra Crewmax, both of which are an SR5 and the throttle response on the 2018 is WAY different. My 2012 was much more instantaneous, the 2018 feels sluggish in comparison. They must have made a programming adjustment along the way. I just ordered the pedal commander for my 2018 because I miss that feeling but I would assume that the eco or city mode would probably help alleviate some of that snappiness.
@@theschmiller I had an 08 SR5, 12 Platinum, and now have a 2020 TRD Pro. The first two were like jackrabbits when you touch the gas. The TRD is much less snappy.
Great video! 2020 TRD Pro here. Any idea if it will void the warranty? I read where you took it to the dealership with it installed, but that doesn't exactly answer the question. Any insight you can provide is a appreciated!
Thanks for your note! According to Pedal Commander it will not. We just shared that we've both taken our vehicle to the dealership for warranty work and it was all good.
Thanks for your super kind words! We actually aren’t aware of anyone running it with a super charger! Not saying it’s not out there - we’re just unaware.
Not recommended if your tundra is supercharged. Just add Quantum solenoids for both exhaust and intake. You’ll feel the gear change more efficiently. Pedal commander helps your throttle response but doesn’t add any HP so when you hit the top end, the truck flattens out. The PC does help if you need to pass on a lane change. I used the PC before I added my supercharger and the best setting to me was the Sport +3. Supercharger is very expensive but adding 150HP is a big difference from just improving the throttle.
I have a TRD supercharger and I'm a little hesitant purchasing this device. I've read it could possibly mess up fuel/air ratio and clog up pump faster. Decisions, decisions.
I'm curious to add to the question from Ewolf5150 .... before you installed this PC, did you try driving with both the Tow/Haul mode on and additionally also holding down the traction control button for a few seconds to disengage/override all the "granny mode" stuff? I have a supercharged tundra and I have found doing this is a night and day difference to the truck's get up a go response. Problem I have when driving like this is getting good traction to the back wheels. The backend easily breaks loose because of all the torque going to a light backend. I believe all these traction safety features that Toyota has on by default is what really holds the truck's performance back. I noticed you were driving in the rain and it didn't appear like you backend ever broke loose. What are your thoughts? Adding a PC to a supercharged tundra would this work?
It honestly totally depends on your preferences! I'd test several when you get it and you'll find exactly what you're looking for! We tend to stay in City mode a lot.
Just what I’m looking for in my 2021 1794 with just at 200 miles lol Did this throw any codes or can the dealer find that a tuner was ever added? I’d hate to void warranty! Also, you’ve had this installed for 3+ months; still happy with purchase and how’s mpg and performance?
Supposedly it can do that due to improper installation (not following directions) or possibly from changing settings while moving, giving it gas, or changing speed control settings. Hopefully you found your answer by now. 👍✌️ One more thing...supposedly there was a glitch with app control causing that. Not sure if they fixed it yet, but hopefully.
are you able to get a module so when i got to manual mode it actually changes gears like i want it to?? EX for when i want to drive in eco mode i switch to 2 gear at a stop so i can keep low rpms but it really doesn't. Then when im driving at max 55 i would like to switch to 6th gear or 4 even if im doing 35 to keep revs down but the computer wont let me. It still switches when it feels like it.
@@TrailGridPro so the pedal commander is not an issue. I wanted to find out if you guys can create a module were you can actually shift gears when you’re in manual mode. The main issue I’m having is no matter what gear I put it in, the computer still somehow in control and won’t put it in gear right away when I try to shift let’s say from 2nd to third doing 30. This is more for a off-road and eco-mode necessity that Toyota didn’t have the decency to properly make the manual mode and was wondering if you guys can look into it. Thank you in advance

So what’s the best sensitivity on a 2015 tundra? I just ordered one
It honestly totally depends on your preferences! I'd test several when you get it and you'll find exactly what you're looking for! We tend to stay in City mode a lot.
I heard ya needbto be at a stop to change the setting or it can mess things up is this true
Pedal Commander informed us that as long as you’re not engaging the throttle at the same time, you can change modes while moving.
Wonder if this would make a '17 Titan V8 gas roar?
Our hunch is it definitely would!
Just what I’m looking for in my 2021 1794 with just at 200 miles lol
Did this throw any codes or can the dealer find that a tuner was ever added? I’d hate to void warranty!
Also, you’ve had this installed for 3+ months; still happy with purchase and how’s mpg and performance?
Yep, completely happy with it! We’ve taken the vehicle in for service at Toyota and the Pedal Commander stayed in the vehicle when we brought it in.
I've heard it throw the dash lights on and cause the vehicle to go into limp mode especially in high speed. What could be the cause of this?
Supposedly it can do that due to improper installation (not following directions) or possibly from changing settings while moving, giving it gas, or changing speed control settings. Hopefully you found your answer by now. 👍✌️ One more thing...supposedly there was a glitch with app control causing that. Not sure if they fixed it yet, but hopefully.
Good question! We have only heard reports of that when the instruction procedure is not followed properly.
so this is good for Sequioa too, right? 5.7 2008
PC does sell a Sequoia version!
Ha. Gets passed by school bus. Kidding. Great video.
Hahahaha, those school buses are fast around here!! 🙌
My '22 4Runner Limited just asked if I can get one of these...I think I will oblige.Btw great video.
Lol, I definitely suggest you listen to your Limited.
How do u guys feel about the commander with the 5.7 Flex fuel version?
Haven't tested it but we don't see any reason why it wouldn't be awesome!
Does it stay in whichever mode once truck is restarted? Wife will definitely not want to redo everytime
Yep, it sure does! The Pedal Commander stays in the same mode you left it when restarting!
@@TrailGridPro That's awesome. Thanks 😊
@@kevindelk Absolutely! It’s our pleasure!
Put that on a shirt! Lol “smiles per gallon” 😂
Hahaha! Solid idea! I like it!
I’m running to sprint booster
Oh awesome! How do you like it?
are you able to get a module so when i got to manual mode it actually changes gears like i want it to?? EX for when i want to drive in eco mode i switch to 2 gear at a stop so i can keep low rpms but it really doesn't. Then when im driving at max 55 i would like to switch to 6th gear or 4 even if im doing 35 to keep revs down but the computer wont let me. It still switches when it feels like it.
Hmm, we actually haven’t tried that in manual mode. Is that what you’re experiencing?
@@TrailGridPro so the pedal commander is not an issue. I wanted to find out if you guys can create a module were you can actually shift gears when you’re in manual mode. The main issue I’m having is no matter what gear I put it in, the computer still somehow in control and won’t put it in gear right away when I try to shift let’s say from 2nd to third doing 30. This is more for a off-road and eco-mode necessity that Toyota didn’t have the decency to properly make the manual mode and was wondering if you guys can look into it. Thank you in advance
@@Gh0stM2 Ohhhh, gotcha! Thanks for clarifying! Well, it sounds like you have a pretty cool idea there! I’m not sure if any company has that in the works! Maybe you should develop it and make millions, lol! 🙌💰
does it affect mpg?
ECO will save you MPG's and the rest will cost you a few MPG's.
Is the app necessary?
Nope, you can control everything on the Pedal Commander module itself!
OK....I have a question if the pedal commander doesn't void your warranty why is everybody removing it when they take their truck in for service>
That's a good question! We're not sure!
I think you’re suppose to come to a complete stop before you switch
Just as long as you don't have the throttle pressed, you can change.
So it’s just throttle response right??don’t gain any hp?
Yep, correct … just throttle response. No HP.
I've heard it on other channels and it does sound like a V8. I think you all are going to be very surprise.
Appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@TrailGridPro Huge Tundra fan here...I'm currently a 2017 limited TRD off road owner.
@@goldrunnersound Awesome! Love it!
Ya, read the manual. Don’t change settings when moving. Also, why aren’t you using Bluetooth?
Thanks for watching! Our contacts at Pedal Commander suggested not to change settings while accelerating, but while moving was perfectly okay. We don’t change settings very often in real life, so changing settings on the module is easy enough for us, however you’re right / the Bluetooth capability is pretty awesome!
your not suppose to change settings well on throttle
That is correct!
Could it mess up the engine or transmission long term??
Thanks for your question! We’re not aware of any long term issues.
LOL, if you bought a TRD, Fks mpg love it
🙌🙌
Just save your money. Nothing the Tow/Haul Ass button can't take care of.
Thanks for watching and for your comment! We totally understand it’s not for everyone! We appreciate ya!
Loved the product but eventually during a travel it effected my computer and had me stranded in the middle of nowhere in Az. Dealership did detect it but kept a hush hush if I paid out of pocket to avoid getting my warranty tossed out the window. $2500 later I said fuck pedal commander. All it does us make your throttle more sensitive.
Yikes, so sorry to hear that happened! Ours have been smooth sailing for a long time!
@@TrailGridPro yeah it was great to have. Had mine for ten months. I would highly recommend not using the pedal commander during long travels with the cruise control on. My only guess why it could've affected my computer and crankshaft sensor.
@@DL-vt2gi Ah, appreciate the heads up. We haven’t used it on long drives with cruise control … so we haven’t tested that yet.
How did the dealership detect it?
@@scottrempel7243 A deep diagnostics performed by the head mechanic found it when the regular shop diagnostic machine didn't catch it. The Pedal commander absorbed too much power and caused interference with the computer. A problem associated mostly with Dodge.
Or... you can just press Tow/Haul🙃
Yep! Thanks for watching!
Not the same and some aren’t equipped
Shouldn't do that. No joke unless the weights there
@@Northof25A??
Push the “tow mode” button and save yourself hundreds. This peddle commander is notorious for causing issues, people have regularly stated their throttle is either inop until it’s unplugged or that it sticks which could cause serious harm or death. Don’t buy it
Thanks for commenting! We've had these in our company trucks for years with no issues, as well as many happy customers who love them! If the install procedure is followed correctly, it's very unlikely to see issues with this unit!
Heat will not hold it in place. Velcro comes off',
Totally hear you and in most cases that's what we've experienced as well! But, believe it or not, in 2.5 years that I've had the Pedal Commander in my vehicle (4Runner) that velcro is still holding strong! Thanks again for watching!
the white suv was trying so hard to keep up poor buddy
LOL!
For better throttle just push the Tow/Haul and your now hauling ass
That may work but we love the affect the Pedal Commander has!
😊s per gallon!!! 😂😂😂
LOL!
Tow haul
TOW HAUL!
No sirve si quieres gastar menos en gas comprate un carrito de 4 no compres un tundra
¡Gracias por ver y por tu comentario! ¡Te apreciamos!
Which is your exact model honestly everyone should buy yours
I'm going to be honest with you. I have one. I can't stand it even in City mode with no pluses. You're getting like 3 mi per gallon less. It's kind of crazy
To each their own I suppose! Thanks for the feedback!
You shouldn’t be changing model while driving
Thanks for the tip! Pedal Commander instructions state that you shouldn't change modes while accelerating. As long as you don't have your foot on the pedal it's okay to change modes while moving.
