I wish they made Total War games as good as this still. I feel they have become pretty arcadey recently, especially since the success of the Warhammer series. Three Kingdoms and Troy just didn't do it for me unfortunately. Edit: It's nice to see somebody uploading regular Empire Total War videos, subbed!
Thank you! Yeah I agree the new titles are not for me either. They do have an audience for them but I shall opt out from those titles. I will say Attila has some really great looking mods but I am not sure how fun they are.
I think one of the problem with the total war titles since warhammer is that they introduced health bars for individual soldiers. One concept that makes the older titles more interesting is that everyone dies just as easy. In napoleon for example your general, an old guard soldier and a militia men all just die if they get shot. So you have to use your elit units wisely in order not to waste them.
One of the things I do in the British campaign, due to her strength in shooting and weakness in melee, is retain the start-of-game pikemen and transfer them to theatres where melee enemies are expected, such as Indians, Barbery, and native Americans. Positioning them behind musket infantry for the infantry to fall back behind, the pikemen can take charges that British musket infantry are ill-prepared to fight in the early game. In the mid-game, they retain limited utility in sieges for blocking enemy-controlled gates in tight formation, but are gradually disbanded as melee-competent musket units slowly become available. For most major powers whose line infantry are ok in melee, the pikemen can be disbanded the second the campaign begins.
The green jackets always irked me when I played as GB, they were available to be recruited way before they would have existed historically....Their uniforms look drastically different since they are a late 18th early 19th century design. It also bothers me they didn't make the weapons look more unique. Since the baker rifles used a sword Bayonet. I typically chose not to recruit them in a campaign lol I feel like Empire total war might have been intended to be played in a bit of a broader time frame. Starting in the late 1670s, and ending in the Nepoleonic era. But of course Nepoleon Total War took care of the latter.
I mean there are some mechanics in the new games and UI improvents that i like but overral mostely i agree the new games lack a lot of stuff the old games provided back in the days i didnt really like empire but lately i figured out how to actually play and how all the machanics work and now it became one of my favorite total wars beside attila and original rome
Great Britain has some of the coolest and most useless units out there. Like the Brunswick Dragoons...better stats but don’t have fire by rank like regular goons. Regular goons are still useless tho lol. Something interesting I noticed was that Russian ships cost more even though they don’t have better stats.
Russia should get some unique ships since Peter the Great built a good Russian fleet during this time period. I think AUM mod adds more ships for countries that aren't Great Britain, not sure if it does for Russia.
Dragoons are better for Campaign than in battle, in battle they're decent middle ground cavalry with a giant policing bonus to settlements, take no substitutes when you are going to garrison a city.
@@mmouse1886 Dragoons are pretty good for taking advantage of those stone walls on the battlefield. Dragoons due to their unit small size don't lose as much firepower as line infantry when taking cover and due to being mounted infantry they can reach those stone walls fairly quickly
@@mmouse1886 The issue is, for garrisoning, you soon research light dragoons which provide identical policing strength as normal dragoons but are cheaper, and more useful if pressed into combat.
Using Darthmod my games are locking up at 20-30 turns, it is so annoying. I was not paying attention The British infantry correctly to the melee score instead I was going off of some history that says that the British would shoot 3 times and charge. So I was not playing the British infantry correctly. So defend and not charge with them. In Empire now I only now get line infantry. No Militia etc.
Crashes could be caused by ottomans sending single units around Istanbul. Yes use them in melee in defense only charge in situations where u have clear advantages

Black watch is good on the flanks. Use it to shoot and then if it wins it can charge the flanks of the next enemy unit.
33rd Foot was Wellington’s Regiment in India
The 33rd foot is for protecting the flanks against flanking cavalry and for taking forts in campaign
well for the cost I think they should be better :)

I guess it’s because they have to build them in the cold lol

Good video
Loved this
So how useful is platoon fire over fire by rank? I’d assume with higher reload, guards would be absolutely deadly with fire by rank.
Enjoyed the video very much :)
Glad you like it
I saw aperr on my screen saw you online wean I was fighting battle with uk
Destiny
Rule Britannia!!
Can you do one on America?
I will definitely put that one up soon
Would be cool to see maratha and poland
I have Ottomans planned next and then Maratha. Trying to go alphabetical order. Look for them both soon.

@@FaramirsRangers Thanks, that was a good tip on the British. Crashes I found out just happen, reloading over and over works, lol.
Can you do one on russia please?
My next up is Prussia then will be Russia. I will try to have both videos up this week
