Quietest martial arts tournament ever. Everyone is watching so intently.

Or it could be really quiet because everyone fell asleep? 😅😉

6:10 That was me! I made the mistake of looking at the audience and just lost where I was.

I have never seen the trident set but if that is it I am worried when I have to fight with a trident.

That's a shame, it happens sometimes!

@@yeetya1714 don't worry! In bkfa training you will learn the weapons forms but don't ever have to train application or spar with them. So you're totally safe!

Should empty hands and weapons be together? I would think they'd be judged in seperate categories?
Also wondered (other than a couple weapons forms) why none of these Lau Gar practitioners "advanced forms" were actually from 'Lau Gar' ?

It's called The British Kung Fu Association, not the British Lau Gar association.
So any form or any fighter from any style can demo whatever they like.
Anyway why do you care, you got kicked out of the BKFA.

Got kicked out? Maybe that's how they like to spin it. The reality is i left off my own accord, despite receiving phone calls from a fellow guardian asking me not to leave.
Anyway my main point here was that weapons and empty hand should be separate categories, for the fairness of judging the skill levels of the competitors.

@@Cailean_MacCoinnich your point that its not the British Lau Gar Association but British Kung Fu Association is of course correct. But, since the BKFA is comprised only of Lau Gar kung fu style clubs and all the competitors here are from said lau gar clubs i think your point is mute.

@@LauGarSifu What city you from just I left after training for 12 yrs up near Newcastle from the age of 8 when I realised all the effort I put in and I wouldn’t last 3 minutes with a boxer who had trained for a year.Sobering thought.

@@iandixon7641 I hear you and would say that problem is common amongst many "Traditional Martial Arts". I think the issue stems from training methodology more than lack of effectiveness. If you spend most time practicing forms it will not prepare you for fighting at all. Partner drilling, pad work, Conditioning, strength and sparring should make up 75% of the training time. The forms are important and have their place but should not be the primary practice.
Don't be too disheartened with your experience, the one thing all that time training will have taught you is how to learn a martial art. You should find any other training you move onto next is easier that if you were a raw beginner. You should already be familiar with your body and how to move it in various athletic ways and coordinations so can pick up new stuff quicker.
Good luck with any future endeavours.

I believe she is Holly Cook. A very dedicated intelligent 4th degree Black sash, (I may be wrong) She was a purple sash and trains under Lau Guardian Pete Hornby in Stafford. He is a brilliant martial artist.
