I've also thought about suffering on the bike being a reminder about how lucky I am to be able to be out here, to have the privilege to even feel the feeling of suffering.
I was up early today for my birthday just turned 60. Glad I checked for new video's this morning, as watching this was a great way to start my day! {So well done too!}
Wow... extremely well done interview! Excellent composition and editing and the audio is spot on. Go back and compare this with your first video (Stuff you need - The Essentials) or even your first interview from a couple years ago (the Capo one) and you're sure to amaze yourself! Fantastic progress!
I was very blessed by this video. Likewise, I also strive to be a man after God's heart. I find that cycling is a very unique time for me to draw close to God. I could really identify with Father Rankin-Williams!
True story, if I'd ever get in a debilitating accident, as soon as someone would get to me, the first person I'd ask for would be a Catholic Priest, then they could call the ambulance! Father Chris sounds like a cool guy to ride with for sure. And his kit is pretty cool. When I ride, I carry a medal of "La Madonna del Ghisallo" who is the patron saint of cyclists.
Around 16:40 he says the "church needs to be able to adapt to the reality of the world". Actually... salt and light (Matthew 5:13) are what true believers in Christ are to be like in the world. We are not to become or "adapt" to the ways of the world. One way we're to be like salt is to be preservatives to the world (preserving it from what?) preserving it from the evil inherent in the society of ungodly people whose un-redeemed natures apart from being "born again" (John 3) in Christ are all corrupted by sin (see Psalm 14:3; Romans 8:8). The difference between a true Christian and the world has to be preserved. Any choice that blurs the difference between a true Christ-follower and the world is a betrayal of Christ as Lord and Savior. It needs to be repented from (turned away from) Any choice to accept the ways of the world for the sake of comfort or for convenience contravenes the law of obedience to Christ. Repentance is key for the Christian who strays and who leads others into the ways that world approves of, but which go against God's Word.
This is the most introspective cycling video I've ever seen. I've been looking for this. Thank you Road Bike Culture.
On the bike I met a person who cleans an office, a CEO,, surgeon, etc. I never thought meeting a priest on a ride. I love cycling.
Jorge Vidal cycling has a dynamic group of interesting people, that's why I always talk to people when I ride!
