    Great review as usual. Good to know on widths. I'm surrounded in boots in my living room now. Tried a couple Solomons (Echo Lace SJ Boa and Echo Dual Boa Wide), couple Rides (Fuse and Lasso Pro Wide). Comparing to the Vans Hi-Country Hell-Bents I've a few days on now, as well as my old Imperials and a pair of Thirty-two Jones Tm2
    Solomons a big disappointment - Echo lace ticked all my boxed but too narrow for my (similar to yours) slightly wide (and short toed) foot, and they were also flexier that expected. The Echo dual-boa wides were just.... bad for many reasons (and really really wide).
    Really dig *both* pairs of Rides and they seem wider than most in general (even the regular width Fuse). Nice and stiff but not overly so. Need bit better insole cushion but that's about it.
    Thirty-two Jones TM-2 are just weird - close to great but looks like changes were made to this year's boot which I don't like - no lace eyelets on upper portion so rely *only* on power-strap for fit up there. And the power-strap can't go around the back of the calf any longer.
    The Vans Hell-Bent Hi-Country are most comfortable *except* the toe-box is just slight too narrow for me at the very front, but I think some met pads or insoles and a bit more break-in will solve it. Pretty awesome and SUUUUPER cushy underfoot - the liner I think is the most comfy of them all as well. Just wish the toe box wasn't quite as tapered at the very front as it is.
    Still looking for something as comfy overall as my Imperials. Prolly pony up for an Intuition for them and try to breathe new life into the super packed-out buggers. :D

      Thanks for your take. Can you share your Foot size and Width so it helps others better? What year Imperial did you have? Was it the older 2015 and earlier model or the 2016 and later?

      @@thegoodridesnow mondo 27 just shy of EE width. Imperials were the older ones - 2013 or '14 I believe.

      @@thegoodridesnow Really love'm and kinda shocked they're still in as good of shape as they even are.
      I've always had tough sizing... back of my ankle is fairly slender with very average heel, and my width is between D & EE on left, slightly wider on right (solid EE at least)... But my toes are SUPER short! lol This makes the flex point for articulation almost *always* in the wrong spot for my foot if my toes have the "correct" amount of space (e.g. not a ton of slop).
      In the last decade I almost exclusively wear barefoot style minimal shoes (whole other amazing story), but snowboard boots just don't work for that kinda sizing at all.

    any thoughts about the new hybrid diesel boots? btw my foot is mid-wide and i fit pretty good in them

      I haven't tried them but an all EVA foam sole with no rubber scares me. I've tried those before and it's always incredibly scary in hard to icy snow on those things. What is your exact width? Did you heat mold em?

    Do you guys have any experience with ultra wide snowboard boots? Just had my foot measurements taken and apparently I'm a Frankenstein monster at 10E width feet...

    • @thegoodridesnow

      You mean off the charts since most Brannock scales stop at EEE?

      @thegoodridesnow yeah luckily I made a mistake. Every chart I find gives me a different rating but I'm 295 mondo and 118mm wide. Not as monstrous as I thought.

      Technically no..
      Obviously they are sold in pairs so the insoles I bought or will ever buy will need to be different since my feet are so different. It was great to get a 3d image with measurements and pressure spots to help guide my purchasing when buying orthotics or inserts.
      I might just spend $150 for custom superfeets or Aetrex’s..
      But for my boots I am going to use the insole I bought on my smaller foot only and add thin trimmed down J bars to my boot around the meta tarsal area. Hopefully this will create the snugness I desire and help hold my heal down.
      The scan was free btw..

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  10 місяців тому

      So I would go to a true custom insole maker and spend a lot more but it will be worth it. They won't charge by the pair. Each insole will be made specifically to the mold of each foot.

    Hey guys, great review.
    Just fyi the "wide" version has the same shell as the regular version... They just have a thinner liner.
    How is the heelhold on the lace version compared to boa version?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! So when I had both the wide and regular I put them sole to sole and the wide's shell seemed wider. The sole was the same. I wish I had them both because I'd like to double check that. Did you measure them yourself or is this something you just read? Both are very similar in terms of heel hold. I'd say the BOA is a tough better but it's close.

      @@thegoodridesnow I had them both (TM2 boa in wide and regular) because i didnt see a difference i measured and it was the same. So i asked a german rep and he told me that the shell is the same just the liner differs. I also saw a video from 32 where they pretty much confirm that.

    Great Review! I have a pair of thirty two boots and want to know how they compare width wise to Salomon boots, specifically the new Salomon Echo dual boa. I have a mondo 27 and have a foot width in between D and E. Have you gotten a chance to try them? I heard Salomon boots ran narrow and have no place nearby to try them so I have to gamble with an online purchase.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  8 місяців тому

      Thanks and sorry for the slow response. Missed this. I haven't. Salomon hasn't had samples for me to test. I asked for boards, boots and bindings to test this season and they only had boards. Same last season too. I'll keep trying.

    Hello! When You says You’re true size 9, do You mean Your foot is 270mm long? My foot is 275mm and i’m not sure if I should take 275 or 280 mondo size. What’s Your opinion about this?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  8 місяців тому +2

      True 9 on the US Brannock Scale. That is 27mm long. If you are 27.5 get a 27.5 but make sure you pay attention to your width to get a boot that matches that. Dont go 28. Your feet will slide in the boot, bruise your toe nails, and you might end up cranking down your BOA's/Laces and binding ankle strap to over compensate and hurt your feet.

    • @Anukulous

      If you break one, it keeps breaking back off. It isn’t worth it. BOA is still mediocre imo. I’d prefer they don’t break off. Drop the price of a $500 products by half if the BOA pops out of its socket. Otherwise, make a better product.

      i work at a shop that replaces BOAs (and have broken my own once as well). They are repairable but there are many different kinds of BOA set ups: different wires, different cranks, different lacing patterns.

    • @thegoodridesnow

      No but it's pretty standard with any shoe or boot sizing. It goes from A to EE and it's on every shoe size scale in the US.

    After you guys recommending the torrent boot as a favorite and me having a horrible experience with it im not sure i trust your boot reviews

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  10 місяців тому

      Sorry the Torrent didn't work out for you but I think you should explain your horrible experience. It might help others.
      Secondly, boots are massively harder to review/recommend vs boards and bindings. Every foot is different so having a boot I like not work out for you is pretty standard. Especially when you factor in different riding styles and flex/response preferences. Lastly, if you don't know much about your own feet and how they compare to mine, then it might be hard to trust any review.
      Here are my specs posted in the review on thegoodride.com so you can better understand my perspective.
      Foot Size: 9 US
      Foot Width: E
      Arch Length: Right 9.5 and Left 9
      Calf Circumference: Top of boot 17” & Bottom of boot 12”

    The best boot is the one that fits your feet and doesn't cause pain. Video reviews are useless. Go to a shop and try on as many boots as possible. That's how you'll know.
