Man it's so good to see Mervyn. I was 10 years old when I heard Take 6's first album "Gold Mine' and it literally blew my musical mind! I learned how to harmonize because of your 1st two albums and I have been a HUUUGE fan of your musicality since then. You were the vocal innovators of the early 90s and changed the landscape! I always wondered what happened to him and knew that he was such a formidable force of the group. Such a talent.
Wow! this was absolutely wonderful. I was a take 6 fan ( and still am ) since their first album. I'm glad you guys are letting us " The fans" get to know you guys more in a personal way. You guys change the art of acapella singing with your intricate arrangements. I will forever be a lifelong fan of you guys. I got to see you guys perform live in my hometown of Philadelphia Pennsylvania at the uptown theater back in 1989 or 90 Merv you was still with the group at that time. I was absolutely floored. You guys were fantastic then and fantastic now!
...30yrs ago I heard your 1st album, I've seen your live performance at Wingate Park-Brooklyn. NY, and as a pianist...its 2023, and I'm still shaking my head.. in jaw dropped awesome..The musicianship amongst the group as a whole...is absolutely phenomenal... 🌹Thank you for the 50 million rehearsals ....☺️
I was in the church 1988, listening to different Albums , my Pastor brought from the States. Amongst them was, Take 6's Goldmine, I listened to the Album, the whole night repeatedly, crying many times. I memorized Milky White Way and other songs, singing and crying for days, that's how I became forever a brother and a lover of Take 6. I miss seeing Cedric here. Am out of the Church, still a believer and forever grateful to the Most High for these great men
What you have here is the greatest vocal group/band in the history of the planet. They started off great and have only gotten better and better every year since!
I remember the IAJE festival around 1988/89 in San Diego and Take 6 performed at it. Open seating so I ran in as fast as I could and got front row seats on the right side of the stage. They performed as perfectly as if it was the actual CD! They then came down off stage and sat in the front rows but center stage! I immediately went over and got some autographs. Then we all watched Mike Stern and Michael Brecker who were the next act. Such a great memory to see you guys live! You are the real deal! You're such an inspiration!
I’m glad I ran across your channel! Immediate subscriber, because I love all of you!! I have your cassette tape… 1988. This is 2023. Lol! Love you guys!
Love the conversation, Love the Unity. I saw Take 6, Manhattan Transfer and Dionne Warwick at Newark Symphony Hall (just don't ask what year - don't remember). This was before NJPAC was built. I was introduced to the group through Spread Love, bought the CD and played it to death. That project was how I learned the group was actually a gospel group. Don't even have a favorite off that album - pick one. So glad to see the continued progress. Thank you.
I first heard Take 6 in 1988 laying in bed listening to the Quiet storm around 2-3 am when I heard "Spread Love". It hit me like a ton of bricks and I realized it was acapella (A form of music that I love) . Ive been a huge fan of Take 6 that day . 35 years later and EVERY album they dropped, I own; multiple concerts over the 35 years. and im still a fan to this day. Miss you Ced, Great to see you again Merv! (miss ya)
So much to say.. no pun intended.. when my crush..smh.. Mervyn left I didn't think I'd stay with the group.. God had other plans for him.. but I just couldn't stay away. A day 1 fan.. thank you for all you ALL have done and continue to do. May God keep you blessed and pitch perfect AMEN.
INCREDIBLE! It is so great to see you. Your music is inspiration. Still remember when you came to our Jazz Camp. The concert was amazing and you were such role models for the students. :)
For me … I’m just seeing this posting , today - Saturday - 1/20/24 …. Right after just seeing TAKE 6 performance just this past Monday - 1/15/24- at SONY HALL …. I Got a chance to say hello & chat to Mark for a brief , after the show … They were SLAMMIN’ As always 🤗💥🙏🏽
Come on to me. That was actually my favorite 6 right there. Not to take anything away from how things have changed, but that definitely was my favorite 6.
wow this is one of a kind video love you and miss seeing you live somewhere in this world (no , I mean Germany) 🧡 you must be so thankful to have all of you still here in this crazy world With you its Heaven on Earth THANK YOU
Remember them doing the theme song for Murphy Brown? Years later I came across Alvin's voice in a Spectrasonic's vocal library! The world of a musician!
1988, i was still a student in musicology, in France, and i heard " Spread love" aired by some german radio station...guyz, i froze....like ...i mean...i told to myself...Lord, this CAN't be real....
That’s the second time I am listening to this one.wonderful podcast.but you guys left out one important thing:why did he leave while the group was already successful.I would’ve like for you to have talked about it.
Two others from that era that just slayed were the theme from "like the Whole World's Watching" from Brewsters Place ua-cam.com/video/GPq3R2PLpQ8/v-deo.html And the theme they did for the Women of Brewsters Place - ua-cam.com/video/VDdidTlALeA/v-deo.html

It would have been nice if Cedric, although retired, could have joined you guys.
Covid-19's been bad but I don't think we would have seen this without it. A ray of sunshine in the midst of the storm.
