I don't get why everyone's complaining. Yes there are slight differences from the book, but even in Harry Potter there are differences. Also if you don't like the casting, I suggest you wait until you see the movie, because their acting ability might change your mind.
She's Idrisian. They mention in the books that Shadowhunters come from all around the world and have different accents as a result. Most Idrisians have a British accent, but Cassie (the author) has said that Aidan Turner (Luke, Jocelyn's best friend) sounds like he normally does. It's just because of who raised them and where they were raised. IE, Clary was raised in the States so she doesn't have that accent. :)
Never even Heard of this book, and while I liked the trailer, I can't believe the bitching I see here. Hey, I thought Michael Keaton was a shitty choice to play Batnan but I didn't get all whiny about it!
