Brilliant. I came here for the clean section right before the outro, then had to check out the whole video cause it was played so cleanly. Perfect cover!
@@Joko515 I can see why, there is a lot of dynamics going on and intricate work with the ghost notes. I can tell through your playing how much time you've put behind the kit.
@@VermilionGates thanks man, appreciate it. i covered this song a long time ago and this is the 2nd version i did. improving the heavy parts is honestly not so difficult, but the jazzy stuff really takes a different type of practice to understand.
Excellent cover! I'm working on one of my own and it's pretty difficult. You do an amazing job playing heavy while keeping the necessary swing and relaxed feel.
Thanks man, I think what you mention as swing is probably the most important thing when it comes to playing (especially old) Opeth. Good luck with your cover.
I started watching your videos about 8 years ago because of your Opeth covers. Have loved following you since, and it's awesome to see you doing another Opeth cover! Really takes me back. Fantastic work as always mate, you've somehow continued to get better and better over the years. Keep it up!
You were meant for drumming man this is so awesome!! So clean you look natural playing such a crazy hard song ! Would love to see a foot pedal cam though, might help your views too
Those cymbals sound Supreme man I'm only happy with a few of my cymbals they all sound alright but one day I'll buy crash cymbals that please my ears more.
My cymbal setup used to be all over the place, until I settled with one brand and stuck to one line with a few exceptions. That's what I would recommend. :)
Thanks! I could do it but honestly, it's a lot of work, so probably not, since I'm also quite happy with my original video for The Baying of the Hounds, i terms of sound and performance. Appreciate your comment!
Hey, glad you enjoyed the video! Sure thing: I use the Sabian HHX Groove Pack (google it), the China on the left is an AAXtreme China 19", HHX 10" Complex Splash, AA Regular Hi-Hats 14", the China on the right is a Paragon China 19" All cymbals are regular finish, except for the AA Hats, which have a brilliant finish.
Great cover! Really tight and accurate. How do you play the fast double kick parts? Are you using ankle motion, whole leg motion or a mix of both? Thanks
I usually swivel starting around 180-200 bpm, on lower tempos I just use a full leg motion with some ankles in there. On some of my other videos I have a footcam, if you're interested. :) Cheers!
The stellar mix on this one was once again done by my friend Ramon Smith, whose page you should check out right here: facebook.com/smittyproduction
20 seconds in....subbed! Killer playing man!! You have done your homework.
In the words of Tina Turner: "You're simply the BEST!"
no u 😘
Classic tune and great tribute to it! Martin Lopez is one of my all time favorites.
Cheers,
Sam
Glad you enjoyed it Sam, thanks for still checking out my videos! Nice to see you still around. :)
@@Joko515 my pleasure dude, glad you're uploading quality content 👌

Solid, I miss playing opeth on drums. real life sucks :)
just watched some of your original, and thats where was before i stopped some 10 years ago :)
It's never too late man!
@Joko515 I second that, get back on some drums, some way some how....even you go to a music store every now and then.
Still my favorite of all drum covers of this song out there. You are a fantastic drummer - thank you so much for posting this!
Thanks man!
Just found this. Brilliant man. Totally loved it.
i love this.
Phaqing beautiful congrats!!!
Thanks
Amazing work!!! Flawless, if you could add a camera take of the double bass drum it would be great for your videos.
Thanks man, I have one on other videos.
Damn!! Nailed it

Bravo!
Wow, simply amazing
Sick AF. Effortless. Loved it!
This was SICK! Great cover.
thanks! :)
You channel Lopez as well as you do Haake. Consider me impressed
thanks man, I do chants before recording and try to channel their energies
Perfection
incredible cover man, sounds so crisp. what section would you say was the hardest to learn? cus you nailed this down
The jazzy section before the outro took longest, I'd say.
amazing ♥️♥️♥️

Dude, amazing! Do you think you'll ever do another Baying Of The Hounds all properly mic'd and mixed like this one?
Thanks! I could do it but honestly, it's a lot of work, so probably not, since I'm also quite happy with my original video for The Baying of the Hounds, i terms of sound and performance. Appreciate your comment!
NICE. And those cymbals sound great ( although the ride could be louder ). I see the hhx on the ride, are they all Sabian?
Hey man! Thx for the great vid! Would you mind doing a break down on what you use as cymbals (what line and size…) thx!

phenomenal cover. are you gavin harrison fan? you play just like him and have the same setup
Thank you. I enjoy Gavin's work with Porcupine Tree but I didn't model my setup after his.

Do you set your double peddals spring loose or tight
usually rather tight, like two thirds of the way
You need footcam :(
