I had the Lone Ranger - it was a great action figure. You couldn't check since it's in the bag, but I always remember how well the hat and mask fit! His eyes were outlined perfectly.

Very nice and good review. I still have these two figures, without the boxes but with all the accessories. Also, I have Silver the horse with box (rather worn) and saddle/tack gear, plus the villain Butch Cavendish complete, but without box. I remember getting these new at different times in the 1970’s. My grandparents got all those for me. The first was the Lone Ranger figure, I believe in 1974, he was around $3, which seemed like a lot of money to a kid at that time. I knew the Clayton Moore TV series at the time, and the art work on the boxes for these toys really stood out on the toy shelves. I didn’t see the figures until after the purchase. I remember very specifically going with my grandfather to the old KMart and getting Silver the horse, they would take me from time to time and have me choose something from the Toy Department. Silver’s price sticker is still on the box, he cost $7.57. I kept the three figures and Silver in his box, and that is how they stayed for many years with grandparents. Had I taken them home with my parents these toys would not have survived, Mom would not keep things like that, that would eventually have been tossed or donated. However, my grandparents kept everything I ever gave them, like drawn pictures or school reports, awards, and toys like this, it was all kept in a big box. You are correct about the Lone Ranger suit, mine is a very light blue outfit, I can’t remember if it came that way, or maybe it just faded over time from being out of the sealed plastic. You also correct about these type toys being available on the shelves for longer periods of time, these were available for a few years.

Thanks for watching and sharing your memories. My grandparents sound a lot like yours. My grandma would buy and keep a lot of toys for her grand kids, like the Tontos..there were actually two under her bed she had bought for us but then must have forgotten about or maybe she was waiting until she found the Lone Ranger figure. Fun to think about the toy stores we got these old toys at...dimestores and the like. I mostly collect vintage Star Wars but came across this Lone Ranger figure when I was looking at an ebay seller's other items and couldn't resist. Definitely a quality toy from another era.

Had The Lone Ranger and horse Silver in 1974 - I'm from the UK so it was Louis Marx not Gabriel. Fantastic memories 👍👍

Early 80s toy here in the states. Probably not on shelves after 81 as the Lonee Ranger Movie that year was not a success. I think they were released by Louis Marx in Europe/UK.

I know! Someone (and my grandma was one of the someone's) had socked them away under their bed or in the closet and forgot they had them and they didn't see the light of day for decades. Maybe that's the story for a lot of mint vintage toys.

I have both of them unfortunately one of the masks broke that was very I guess very hard to keep together but I still have them and I have the smaller ones from when the movie bombed I don't know if I have time so I definitely have a long range of the smaller ones

I'd have killed for these as a kid. I had Lone Ranger episodes on records and I watched reruns of the TV show. Even as a kid I never understood why he wore a mask. People's likeness weren't well known in that period and his masked almost always caused people to not trust him and even recoil and run. I guess he was just the first superheroe.
