@@michaelgiberson7101 It can, but it starts to struggle with better turkeys or rooster's on crack. The rhino's first strike is generally better but hippo is still a great alternative since you get it earlier and it's better than nothing

Rhino is routinely underrated but despite saying that I've only ever seen it work twice and every time I've actively taken rhino i struggle to find even one more copy.
It's really good against certain builds but a lot of the time it's just a worse hippo
It comes too late and definitely never see enough in the shops!

It’s a strong build but there’s so much temptation to put too many payoff units so a lot of people screw up because they don’t have enough spawners

Got me to 10 wins! I was STRUGGLING, so my last 3 games was my buff lvl2 ANT 45/50, scorpion, lvl3 rooster with 20 attack, and a tiger. They took me to the end!
The double dragon strat was sick as hell.
I cant believe he got like +12/+12 on each unit and still lost. That team was insane.
There was one time the game just fed me 4 dragons and I was like, welp. Guess I win. +3 +3 on every unit every buy of a tier 1 animal...

Double dragon takes 3 slots, which you're not going to keep. So you're buffing two units +2/+2. That's a pizza or a can.

That could be fun if you're ahead but you need to have the willpower to sell the dromidary when it's no longer useful.
So I've been watching NL on and off since the Halloween update on Isaac, and honestly I didn't click on any of these videos for a long time because it seemed dumb and clickbaity. After watching though I gotta say SAP is some of the best content he's ever done.

I had a run yesterday where 80% of my wins were 4 squad Marty's. Not having to buff an extra unit and having a permanent flex position is very strong in this meta
It's true. If you're adding the same amount of points to your team, you end up with the equivalent of either five 16/16s or four 20/20s, and the larger units last longer 25% longer, getting more hits in and the hits are 25% harder. Clearly there's some point of diminishing returns since you can't even have one 80/80 and two 40/40s wouldn't necessarily perform as well as four 20/20s, but the gist of what you're saying is solid.
I agree about the rhino. I got my first win ever with a Level 3 rhino and tiger; it literally mows down summon builds.

Yea, I feel like if you want high tier units to pop you really need to keep your food shop open and hope for chocolate. Although it's still a crapshoot whether you'll find 0 or 3

Oh wow that tiger rooster build looked like a win until I realized it was tiger rooster level 2
I was steamrolling teams after some good luck even though I only had 1hp. Then I ran into a lv3 rooster with melon armor. I thought I could win the fight until I realized I had 4 50 attack units to kill... rooster is scary when it scales. Although I think tiger skunk is probably more broken although I've never seen it so maybe it's not that good.
@@solsystem1342 Search a channel named "Frost Prime" he made a sniper build. The team comp is basically Blowfish, Tiger, Skunk, Whale and Hedgehog. Of course, it's hard to build since it needs a level 3 skunk and a tiger for it to work but if you do, you'll demolish every comp. Scaling comp? Goodbye 50 health unit. Summon comp? Say hello to my hedgehog, whale combo. Melon armor? Nope. The only comp that beats it is if the enemy has 3 or more 50/50 units or you are so late into the game.
Rhino is incredibly poggers for dealing with all the chicken rooster fly cancer you get late game, just won a versus thanks to having a rhino against the last guy who was running chicken rooster fly, nothing more cathartic than seeing those fucking flies just die one after another

if you ever get level 3 leopard with a tiger behind, you'll be hooked on leopard so hard (but maybe not for the best)
and level 2-3 turtle in P2W is godly because it erases weak
Could you organize a 64 player arena match? I think it's be crazy to see what sort of late game shenanigans happen with that.
Also, crazy strategy I came up with always make sure to hold onto a snail until you finish rerolling (when you're still looking for something to fill the space) since the game might feed you a lv 2 snail which is just madness because for 9 gold you give your whole squad +8 +4. Plus if you have lives to spare you can keep stacking it and get even more value on later turns. Your always going to ditch it eventually but double value when it's already a better a cow is always going to be madness if you can get it to pop.
Watching this man commit so much gold to a lvl 1 dog when he has a worm on his team is honestly painful

Tiger Rhino is probably my favorite build. Rooster/ Sheep/ Turkey/ Fly strats have been dying down recently, so it's less powerful now. But it's so satisfying to just have my rhino attack once and knock out 20 spawned units.
I've also found winning the early games is still crucial, at least for me. I'm someone that struggles in the mid-game the most. So having my whole 10 on turn 5 helps A LOT

I just had my first 10-0 run, it's way different than getting some draws between. I simply don't understand how the game changes so much on round 10 compared to round 15. How do you go from the best pet being 25-24 to going against a full team of 50-50s in 5 rounds? The RNG really makes or breaks a run. Half the time I don't even get anything.

Yea, that late in the game you really want dragons, cats, or trex and that sort of thing for massive scaling. Although really, unless your build can make that work you have to pick up your wins before it's too late.
Yeah, I've yet to have a perfect 10run. I always have at least one loss and a few draws. Mid-game is where I struggle the most.
@@starsheen1 in the mid game it's a good general rule thumb to stack one unit. It's not always the best play but it's usually ok. It doesn't really matter what the unit is either generally I roll with whatever unit ends up biggest in the early game (or is close and has a better ability). Often I get stuck in a rut mid game when I get too attached to my units or when I keep switching them every turn.
Another good rule of thumb is to find a scaling unit (like a monkey or rabbit don't use a shrimp) and then just stack food and equipment. Never underestimate the power of meat on the bone and garlic armor to carry you.
The bad builds die, and the good midgame builds already won 10. All that's left at turn 15+ are the super juiced squads that drew a lot in the early game
You have to get a bit lucky with the shops but pivoting a dodo build into a snipe build is always fun.
Watching basically half of the enemy team melting before your tank even does anything is really satisfying.
I gotta recommend using the gorilla, the unit is pretty good when you get it decently stated and if you can get some melon armor on it, carried me to many 10 wins
Was that pre-nerf? Currently, 'hurt' abilities like the gorilla's don't trigger if melon armor reduces the damage to 0
The major thing I can see it vibing with (haven’t tried it yet) is a pogged up Hedgehog or maybe Elephant
@@rosemarygrant6424 but melon armor still reduces 20 damage max, so if you survive a hit thats more then 20 damage but still dont die it triggers coconut armour, giving you a free hit.
@@rosemarygrant6424 the thing is though against big units melon armor doesn't usually block all the damage so if you have a stacked gorilla it should probably get a coconut armor off (unless they're rolling something up front to pop melon armor).
I still want to try pilling a badger in the shop to hit a gorrila and see if it gets preloaded coconut armor every battle.

Update to a post a couple videos back, whale eating scorpion does respawn the scorpion with peanut, but unfortunately mushroom scorpion does not respawn with peanut. So whale scorpion is still potentially super valuable, but whale scorpion+mushroom is not

What does whale scorpion actually do though? It just takes up an extra slot with the whale. I mean I guess if you have a stacked whale and nothing to feed it. Cool interaction none the less. Wish that would have worked.

@@Johnalk whales are kind of bad usually. With a lv 1 turtle they can do work. They just don't have anything outside of maybe sheep that scale well with them? At least as far as I've seen.

I'll keep my anti bat propaganda, with that 4 squad, the bat's effect was useful once. The rest of the time it was just a worse stated fish. Bat rng isn't worth it if you can't at least get it to lvl 2 very quickly.
I've been running the rhyno for quite some time and I just prefer it over the hippo, cause if they have a string of weak animals, the 4 damage van chain over multiple pets and it just feels good.
That's good mid game but the hippo clutches out some survivals in the late game. Level 2 hippo helped me survive some fat hits and break some armors.
@@SpongeKiller42 yeah, hippo seems to also work really well mid game because of the dog, whale, and sheep builds. Having 2/2 animals that it can rip through is so fun to watch play out.

At 13.57 I would sell the skito and roll once. The probability of tier 1s coming is greater value than the 4/4skito being in play. in my opinion.
I think its gto fully correct in first 4 rounds to just freeze an apple if you see one. You never use honey that early.

An ant took me to 10wins today. Had a pretty crappy shop so had to buff an ant and a rooster, and eventually added a tiger and scorpion and those 4 took me to 10. I was pleasantly surprised!
I took a beaver to 50/50 and 10 wins. It may have helped that the game gave me 4 dragons though... but bunny beaver got me far enough for that to pop off.
@@solsystem1342 4 dragons??? Holy moly! I was doing pretty bad in one game, just couldn't scale right, had a dog at about 25/25 with garlic armor, and 4 deer showed up in my shop. So I ran 4 deer and a dog 🤣🤣 it was so funny!
@@starsheen1 well not literally four dragons. I had a high stat beaver that was carrying me so then I just had a lv2 and lv1 dragon in the middle and kept cycling the backline. I think my fourth unit was a monkey that started buffing itself since the beaver hit 50/50
@@starsheen1 busses for days. You get a bus, you get a bus, you all get busses. Also, I think duck is definitely playable now. I rolled 5 ducks into the second round and then just cleaned house in vs mode because I had units with +5, +5 on the third turn. Lol

just ran a chicken build with a buffalo and a goat (which i sold for a 35/35 scorpion down the line) and it was some of the most fun i've had with the game!

I think the logic of not investing in ant because it is too good to give up later is flawed. Investing in a worse unit and then switching strategies will always be worse than investing in ant and switching.
I'm not sure why NL always put hedgehog last, if you have units with more than 2 hp it almost always makes most sense to put hedgehog first. Very easy to get early-mid round wins just because of hedgehog first while hedgehog last does basically nothing.

New update changed lives system. Loss at tier one means one life lost, loss at tier loses two, then the rest is three lives

It'll now tell you when hp loss goes up as well as animals are unlocked. It starts at one and then goes up by 1 every two rounds all the way to 3 per loss I think?

How we feel about the new 10 lives system?
I think it makes sense from a game design standpoint. From how I understand it you essentially lose more lives the later into the game you are but early losses are not as impactful. The problem with the 4 life system was that every life lost is equivalent in value but how much control you have over your build isn't the same at all stages of the game. Naturally, the first 1-3 turns are often super volatile because there's less options so if you get unlucky and draw too many ducks its possible to lose almost all your lives and thus have a way lower chance of getting a 10-win compared to players who get lucky early and stomp their first 3-4 turns. People who win early have the advantage of pivoting way easier or if they have a scaling build, able to scale faster than players who are forced to pivot since they lost early.
With the 10-life system, RNG is mitigated by making early losses less meaningful so players who win early don't have a massive advantage for a 10-win and players who get unlucky won't get completely screwed over.

Level 3 swan isn’t worth it, you spend 9 gold getting it and it very rarely pays out 9 or more gold
But it has good stats too. Can't only look at the effect.lvl 3 Swan with Garlic Armor will destroy many pets AND partially pay for itself.
@@pipaloire I believe a lvl 2 will gain a +3/+3 per animal which at that point isn’t worth too much imo, anything that scales would be better
