Strava is good, but the fact you need to go in and change the file from sailing to kayaking is annoying - plus Strava only comes alive with the use of a fitness tracker. Paddlelogger is good and basic and can be left on while you paddle. My only advice - carry a phone charging battery on longer paddles.
@@AdventuringIrishmanyou can use a third party app and set it so whatever activity you want will upload as kayaking (I select “rowing” on my Coros watch and it uploads to Strava as kayaking).
What device would I need to keep from getting lost - ex. Start spot A kayak or hike to spot B Or hiking in forest for I’m base camp, and finding way back to base camp if disoriented from land environment? Thanks!
I would say Garmin might be one of the best options - something like an InReach perhaps with a Fenix? There are also Garmin (and other models) of navigation tool that help for the above,
thanks for the info . paddle logger looked like what I was looking for but it looks like its only for apple users
I’ve always used Strava to log my paddles but must give paddle logger a try!

I just heard that with Paddle Logger you can put phone in airplane mod and it will use GPS only to considerably save battery time

@@AdventuringIrishman thanks. I keep seeing InReach in many ads/vids;
