      If you're in the UK and it's set to US volts, bang, the power supply will blow. I guess that is why the switch default setting is European/UK setting

    I have an Ender 5 S1 that I can't get level no matter what I do. I put a glass bed on from a working ender 3 and still nothing. The problem is in the same spot no matter the direction I put the glass plate so I think it's the aluminum extrusion rails. Anyone have ideas for how to straighten them out?

    I got into 3d printing because of my other overly nerd hobby, which is build and fly model aircraft (mostly multirotors, but I have a few fixed wings too). So I guess I'm imune to the hassle of tinkering. Nice little rant, though. 3d printing definitely has a steep learning curve, but it is nice to learn stuff, right? A year ago I was completely unable to model stuff, now I feel I have to jump those hoops too and that knowledge is another tool in my box. Anyone who's already into scratch building rc aircraft and other complex things is going to enjoy 3d printing, despite all the hassle.

      I hear you. I’m all for learning new things. Got into it myself for basically the same reason. It’s super handy but not super easy.

      Bambu Labs X1C or P1P OR Prusa Mk3S+ (on clearance as they released the Mk4) or the Mk4 are essentially upload model and go. Just walk away after its started. The fidgeting and goofing around is unique to cheap printers. I like making stuff, not fiddling with printers. I tried the $250 type printers, hot garbage although they're better now. $600 and up they start to become press button and go.

      @KarlBunker Рік тому

      @@wilurbean Thanks; I'll keep that in mind. I know there must be some point at which these machines become useful tools rather than bottomless time-sinks of fiddling and frustration.

      Nothing worthwhile is ever gonna be easy. The point is getting the base structure as neat as possible. You then go and apply your own artistry with the sanding, priming, painting, metallic coating, finishing etc. As that's the whole point that separates hobbiest 3D prints from mass produced products. The only prints that don't really require work are brackets and connectors, utilities etc. But even that is gonna require an initial investment of trial and error, after which it becomes really simple and easy - like any skill.

    As a newb to printing but a lifelong mechanic and technician (jet fighters on down, industrial machinery etc) and computer enthusiast of over two decades I would not recommend any Ender to someone who does not expect to fight questionable sloppy design choices (like the bed leveling hardware which doesn't retain adjustments) and awful HID on the control firmware user interface.
    Those are not choices made to save money, they're just lazy.

  • @wilurbean

    All Printers can do PLA-FLEX which is made by Atraxia art. Its super hydroscopic, but if you can keep it dry, man does it print nice. So much nicer than TPU, no smell, no special settings, just PLA mode and go.
    For all the effort and moaning about creality, you could've bought a Prusa MK3S+ and now they're the same price as the C5-S1.
