Oh wait they do, but the people they listen to are from China. BMW is now making their cars suitable just for chinese market. And thats why people from the rest of the world wouldn't like them. I want my german car to look german not chinese if i want chinese car there are plenty.
I guess I am the only one who doesn't mind the exterior. Its futuristically ostentatious which makes it different and interesting, particularly with that body line, it works.

The exterior is polarazing and I agree, the s class looks better but there are still some upsides of the exterior. The sideview imo is spot on, very elegant. And the car looks way more sinister and menacing than the s class and a lot of luxury car buyers like that

indeed... those old american luxury cars were amazing... actually felt like sitting in a plush chair in some seedy lounge... some of the french ones as well... these just feel like your some disabled person strapped in
surely, all the screens and light coming from seemingly every surface in the car have to be distracting and dangerous? I can't begin to imagine the reflecting sunlight as well as the glare during night driving from all the screen/ambient lighting.
Good point, I've been to a couple modern luxury cars recently and still cannot quite grasp this German definition of what luxurious interior is these days... You've got clean, minimalistic interior design trends, materials and color combinations on simple forms Tesla/Lucid seem to integrate into their cars so well... And then there's a Holy Trinity of German automakers with their ambient LED lighting, crystals and all that BS o_O
Nah you guys are wrong, BMW is lowkey genius for these designs. When Chris Bangle was at BMW, all the car nerds whined SO much that their cars look so ridiculous and terrible. Nowadays, they’re lauded as classics. The V10 M5, M6??? Amazing now, back then those were considered “ugly”. Same with the Z4 in 2003. They look great today. Just wait until the competition starts copying BMW… like they do every generation lol

I wouldn’t be so sure my 13 year old E89 for its time was laden with gadgets including I drive etc and 13 years on it all works perfectly! Anyway if you are really in the market for this car now I doubt you care what will happen to it 10 years down the line!
I just returned from the BMW dealership where my new 5 series was parked between an i4 and an iX. The difference was like day and night. The 5 series just looks almost perfect while you wouldn’t recognise the other two as a BMW if someone would cover up the badges. I’m pretty sure that this is going to be my last BMW for a long while.

The designs after the M3 G80 look like they came from people who have no idea about design details, proportions, heritage. Doug DeMuro described this perfectly: BMW isn't the coolest kid on the block anymore and is reacting to change this. Problem is it's reacting spasmodically, in a completely wrong direction, denying all of its own characteristic design patterns and details. It's - no more, no less - a mess of a situation.

That interior is absolutely amazing, the patterns in the mood lighting, the graphics on the infotainment, the different surfaces, top job by BMW. First impressions are much more positive compared to when I saw the new S-Class' interior for the first time. As for the outside, I love the M3/M4, I like the 4 Series now, the iX is alright, but I can't defend BMW for this, it is ugly. I hope their marketing strategy is along the lines of "make hideous looking cars, cause an uproar, dominate headlines of car news outlets, put BMW in the spotlight of premium car buyers again, smash it out of the park with interiors and win customers that way." For 15-20 years up to maybe 2017, BMW were such an anonymous brand, their cars looked so boring, inside and out. I guess trying to win customers through driving experience was not enough. Where it matters in the premium market is the tech, interior eye candy and material quality. They've massively upped their game in these aspects and I hope I'm right with the exterior design direction.

New BMW designs are daring and unapologetic, that carefree/no-fucks attitude is what makes them stand out right now. Tech does not equal luxury. Imagine all of those various screens after a few years.. probably non functional and very likely cracked or chipped. I think the latest 5 series will remain the best design in modern BMW history. Hope Mercedes does a better job of the upcoming S class.

When you cut from i7 to X7 I honestly mistook the x7 for an x5. The grille's just get bigger and bigger, you know it's bad when the X7 looks like it has normal grill sizes.
i don't hate the interior. it just baffles me how the put 500 electric motors everywhere to make everything powered. climate vents, door latches, charging door, armrest, glovebox, window shades, steering wheel and so much more. a lot of these seem unnecessary and more difficult and slower than just moving it yourself
@@ZeeBri well, they are more accurate (can stop anywhere you like) and if there are more drivers, memory settings might come handy. W211 I sometimes drive has a combination of electric and manual (forward s/backwards is manual) and that's ideal for me.
Most people hate this look now. But I reckon things will be different in 6 or 12 months. Ever since the latest X5 came out, people have been complaining about the huge grill and the looks overall. But I found they grow on you over time. You will like this car when you see one in person.
I actually love the look...this is a gorgeous car, and the interior has finally surpassed Mercedes...just have to get assurances that it is reliable and the warranty covers all of these gizmos...then i'm in!
When you're sitting inside this car you don't care about how it looks from the outside for sure! The interior simply outclasses the competition imo. About the exterior, well... I have to say I actually quite like the M3/M4 front grille but this is a bit much for me, and the side view is just boring. It seems quite hard to design the exterior of EVs, of course car companies want to make it somewhat different from ICE cars, futuristic but still give it character. One of the reasons why I still don't want to have an electric car is that pretty much all of them look either extremely boring or ugly.
You people always complain that all cars today look the same. I'm kind of glad that BMW steered right into the whole huge kidney grill as a big middle finger to all of the old fans who can't afford any of the new BMWs anyways. You see this in a parking lot and its going to look bonkers in a good way. That interior and fold down TV is just epic. What a time to be alive, regardless if I'll ever afford one, let alone drive in one.
@@eagleying6300 I've only seen pictures of those cars but I don't think any of them have interiors as nice as this one. They're nice, but not as stylish and having as much individual character as this. Other car interiors I like are the Lotus SUV and I look forward to what Volvo and Polestar bring in their next-generation cars. I also like the Porsche Taycan interior. Genesis GV70 has an amazing interior. I think it's the best Genesis interior and Hyundai/Kia have interesting designs yet I think they're not quite on German/Japanese levels but very close. As for cars, I can't really say. Let a bunch of people test drive them head to head and we'll say what they have to say. BMW and Porsches are extremely well built vehicles. And they have so much experience with road sports over the years that I'm thinking it would be hard to top them. Mercedes and Audi as well and other makes. While China may top them in tech, it's a hard sell for me to think they're topped in body structure, solidity, chassis dynamics and ride/handling balance. And durability will have to be proven over many years.
Only thing I like is the on display mood lighting. Other than a TV screen suspended in the roof I don't see any thing pushing the ' executive car tech" going forward.
Man the side profile looks so much like the Rolls Royce. I know they own them and use the same platform, but it’s crazy how much it looks like it from the side
I'm liking the exterior styling. I think it suits the 7. Only thing I'd change are the rear lights. This car deserves a single lightbar. That interior is wow. They've out-luxuried Mercedes and Audi. This is now my dream executive car.
I always dreamed of cars like this. I am big movie freak and fan and a car fan. So mixing them together just makes it epic. I also would dream about having a car that would have an epic theme to it that matches with your driving while having lights go with the flow of the environment. Kinda like the movie avatar in a way. It’s a very beautiful concept. But, unfortunately a car like this is very hard to get in our hands with that price. Also I wish it was an suv rather than a Sedan. I just wish there was an affordable version with just the ambient sounds kept and the beautiful lighting with the tv kept.

I can relate 100%. My current M340i looks to be the last BMW I will ever buy new if they continue with making cars that look like crap.

Setting aside the controversial grille (which I dislike), to me the whole thing looks blocky and inelegant. The interior is certainly impressive though.

I'm glad that it's blocky. Blocky is traditional. Sedans these days are trying to look like coupes which kinda sucks.

No, but as mentioned in the video, this new 7 is available with all electric or with petrol motors so the design needs to allow for that.

yeah putting everything in the touchscreen is reaaally original. illuminated grills are on cheap like huynday and skodia... split headlights are on ugly cars like citroen and nissan dukes.

@@jhonmcgay2051 I agree that it's not a very attractive car, but to me they're cool as hell for going ahead with this design anyway. New BMW designs are daring and unapologetic, that carefree/no-fucks attitude is what makes them stand out right now. It's like a marketing strategy and many people will probably buy them despite the exterior, maybe because of that beautiful, next gen interior or just to simply give no fucks and stand out from the rest.

Tech does not equal luxury. Imagine all of those various screens after a few years.. probably non functional and very likely cracked or chipped. I think the latest 5 series will remain the best design in modern BMW history. Hope Mercedes does a better job of the upcoming S class.

Pardons, but to me this somehow looks like Genesis sedan with extra steroid... but all the steroid shots doesn't make it looks good, just bulk up a bit.
A Genesis is more elegant on the exterior. But the interior of this is superb.

When you cut from i7 to X7 I honestly mistook the x7 for an x5. The grille's just get bigger and bigger, you know it's bad when the X7 looks like it has normal grill sizes.
i don't hate the interior. it just baffles me how the put 500 electric motors everywhere to make everything powered. climate vents, door latches, charging door, armrest, glovebox, window shades, steering wheel and so much more. a lot of these seem unnecessary and more difficult and slower than just moving it yourself
yes! electric seats! manual is 10x faster than with a motor, they weigh shit loads, often break, don't get the point
@@ZeeBri well, they are more accurate (can stop anywhere you like) and if there are more drivers, memory settings might come handy. W211 I sometimes drive has a combination of electric and manual (forward s/backwards is manual) and that's ideal for me.
talking about unnecessary, how about removing that god damn grille or at least making it smaller because it's an electric car

Most people hate this look now. But I reckon things will be different in 6 or 12 months. Ever since the latest X5 came out, people have been complaining about the huge grill and the looks overall. But I found they grow on you over time. You will like this car when you see one in person.

I actually love the look...this is a gorgeous car, and the interior has finally surpassed Mercedes...just have to get assurances that it is reliable and the warranty covers all of these gizmos...then i'm in!

When you're sitting inside this car you don't care about how it looks from the outside for sure! The interior simply outclasses the competition imo.
About the exterior, well... I have to say I actually quite like the M3/M4 front grille but this is a bit much for me, and the side view is just boring. It seems quite hard to design the exterior of EVs, of course car companies want to make it somewhat different from ICE cars, futuristic but still give it character. One of the reasons why I still don't want to have an electric car is that pretty much all of them look either extremely boring or ugly.

I'm kind of glad that BMW steered right into the whole huge kidney grill as a big middle finger to all of the old fans who can't afford any of the new BMWs anyways. You see this in a parking lot and its going to look bonkers in a good way. That interior and fold down TV is just epic. What a time to be alive, regardless if I'll ever afford one, let alone drive in one.
That interior is amazing. The S class has been the king for so long but i find thier new interior a let down. This however. So much better
Actually nowadays many new Chinese car brands make much better cars inside out. HiPhi X HiPhi Z, ZHIJI LS7, NIO ET 7/ET 5, HONGQI E-HS9, etc.
@@eagleying6300 I've only seen pictures of those cars but I don't think any of them have interiors as nice as this one. They're nice, but not as stylish and having as much individual character as this. Other car interiors I like are the Lotus SUV and I look forward to what Volvo and Polestar bring in their next-generation cars. I also like the Porsche Taycan interior. Genesis GV70 has an amazing interior. I think it's the best Genesis interior and Hyundai/Kia have interesting designs yet I think they're not quite on German/Japanese levels but very close.
As for cars, I can't really say. Let a bunch of people test drive them head to head and we'll say what they have to say. BMW and Porsches are extremely well built vehicles. And they have so much experience with road sports over the years that I'm thinking it would be hard to top them. Mercedes and Audi as well and other makes. While China may top them in tech, it's a hard sell for me to think they're topped in body structure, solidity, chassis dynamics and ride/handling balance. And durability will have to be proven over many years.
Only thing I like is the on display mood lighting.
Other than a TV screen suspended in the roof I don't see any thing pushing the ' executive car tech" going forward.

Totally different platform now since 2017 onwards with Phantom, Cullinan and Ghost, no longer 7 series based.
this reminded me of my reaction when i first saw the 2002 7series.
A car that's not EV from the ground up will just be riddled with compromises.
it is already based on its specs. I have a 2017 Model S and its not even a performance model: 4.2 sec 0-60.
I'm liking the exterior styling. I think it suits the 7. Only thing I'd change are the rear lights. This car deserves a single lightbar.
That interior is wow. They've out-luxuried Mercedes and Audi. This is now my dream executive car.

I always dreamed of cars like this. I am big movie freak and fan and a car fan. So mixing them together just makes it epic. I also would dream about having a car that would have an epic theme to it that matches with your driving while having lights go with the flow of the environment. Kinda like the movie avatar in a way. It’s a very beautiful concept. But, unfortunately a car like this is very hard to get in our hands with that price. Also I wish it was an suv rather than a Sedan. I just wish there was an affordable version with just the ambient sounds kept and the beautiful lighting with the tv kept.

Some edit: what really got me is the futuristic Westworld S3 feeling watching the i7 videos on their website. The music, the design, everything. That was a crazy touch.

the 740i uses a inline 6 engine with a 48 volt mild hybrid system. the 750i is the one with the v8 and 48 volt mild hybrid system
