- myself and Dessie headed over to Paddy Kavanagh to sing a song for him one Sunday morning a few weeks back before heading to the Dublin Bird Market for a look around.
This song is called 'If Ever you go to Dublin Town". It was written by Patrick Kavanagh about himself and I suppose and I first heard it being sung in its entirety by Pat Goode in his kitchen a few years ago along with a number of other beautiful songs. he makes a lovely cup of tea as well if I remember correctly.
This song was recorded by Ronnie Drew and The Dubliners years ago but I never remembered hearing it as a boy.
I hope you enjoy it and if you do enjoy the music you can head over to my website and have a look at the few albums I recorded.

Thanks for the kind words. Ever since my Wife lost her Mother he'd been heartbroken and lost. We're happy that he is finally home with the love of his life, and home with the Lord.

Spot on ....
Just discovered your music. Downloaded both of your albums on Apple Music. You have a wonderful voice and great skill playing your instrument as well. I like how in different versions of the same song you add a little variation. I think that's why it sounds so good, each iteration is you just playing the song, and going with a natural flow, not trying to make it sound like a prior version you did or like anyone else's version of the song.
It's hard to explain, but it's like when you have an original conversation with someone, and it was unexpected but leaves you with a warm glow, but then try to relate the same conversation to someone else, it never feels as natural as that first conversation. Like you can't force it. Your music doesn't feel forced, or trying to recreate something you did before, it's just natural and fresh sounding. I hope that makes sense
This is really good! The usual skill and hypnotic style of Daoiri always makes my day better
Very nice song well done
I just found you moments ago and I’m instantly a fan! Bless you sir! Your music is gorgeous!!
Get to see him live if you can, you will have a great evening.
I just discovered your music. I’m fascinated and can’t stop listening - I bow my head for your incredible voice!
My best wishes from Germany!
Lovely song and video Daoiri Hope to see you in Sheffield or Ludlow in 2021🇮🇪☘️
So good to visit your YT Page and get a lift up spiritually, your music does that. I first discovered your talent with the post of the airport delay and you playing with your mates singing The Galway Girl. Thank you. Never stop....
Great ould song 🎵 Thanks Daoiri
Hey Daoirí, hello from the States. I appreciate the videos and the tunes. Thanks!
Great job Daoiri & Dessie!
More!
I love your music daori x
Just brilliant 😍😍😍
Bew-ri-ful !! Went looking for the Ronnie D version to remind meself of the words - this one is the business too. Always felt Kavanagh's ghost most present in the Waterloo Bar on Baggot St. - at least until they vandalised it inside during the Septic Tiger time
Feckin' brilliant - as usual!
Daori thankyou
I have been following you since the "We were halfway there and the rain came down eyaa eyaa aa" Airport video
Love it
Thank you.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Brilliant I love you 😍
How auld Paddy did not get up and dance i just do not know.
Brilliant
The one thumbs down was from Paddy. He didn't seem too impressed with the performance.
The best Vi deo
Great
Can we have a proper studio recording of this version, please?
Really nice. What is this instrument? It looks like a extra large mandolin.
I think it's called a Bouzouki.. which is like a large mandolin but from Greek origin.
Have you played in Newfoundland? If not you should.
Auld Dublin nothing like it
Indeed....a tolerant city.
What are the chords for this lovely tune? I'd love to play it on my own bouzouki!
Tell me that's not Hagrid at 0:29
Ar fheabhas. Better than the Ronnie Drew version.
