Dear Rappers was the first record. He wrote it with the last half of his last cigarette, after it he walked in told Nova, I think this is the song. And bc they had no power, they couldn't pay it. They would run an cord to their neighbors apartment. Thats why their first video is in black and red.
That was the one that blew him up and that's the way it went, the video before was the first Nova shot for him (Hangman) and it does get missed a lot, it's fire - the few albums before that are pre-breakdown and way different, but still dope in their own right 🔥 #HOG
Great reaction! I love this song, and it's often over looked. A lot people below have told you "Dear Rappers" was the song he went viral on, that is correct. Then he wrote "Helluvit" after that came "White Boy" and that's the song he really got known for. It was actually a response to "Dear Rappers" because so many people said he was racist, because the song was going after rappers. A lot of people automatically assumed he was talking about black rappers and he wasn't he was going after the content of the current rap music, regardless who wrote it. I think Tom was sober in this video, but was still dealing with the punishment he put his body through during his addiction problem. It was also before he started his work out regiment. I couldn’t agree more! I was put on anxiety meds one time and I stopped after one week because I noticed they were actually changing me as a person. They were taking my good emotions away along with the bad ones. I’ve had four nervous breakdowns and pending disability due to cognitive issues and memory loss but I won’t go on prescription drugs that mess with the brain

My husband and I worked like crazy for the last 10 years and we finally paid off all of our debts, including our house. We literally own everything we have. We are in our 40’s and when we were younger, we were pretty dumb. I had no idea how good it was going to feel to satisfy all of the obligations and debts we had. On the topic of people who could have been saved I partially agree on it never being an artist responsability. In Tom's case, he is doing it right you simple can not please everyone certainly if you are independent and switch your topics up alot because people will lean more to a certain style/topic. I found Tom when I was in a really dark place, and his music helped me out of it. Do I enjoy every song or every style as much as the other, ofcourse not but that does not make me hate the man just personal preference based on my life but he's not making music just for me. But you can't deny there are tons of (mostly mainstream) artist pushing pills, liqour, and glorifying certain lifestyles which they don't even live themselves that kids and even adults listen too and fall prey to. In my eyes, they are responsible for promoting that to their fanbases. Very different lanes in the same conversation but something that can not be denied. And if anything, shows how much this man cares, and tries to be his best self for others too. Loved the reaction, keep up the amazing work man!

This was pre lockdowns I believe. When the lockdowns started (Nova has severe asthma) almost all of their videos were recorded at their home. And Tom started working out heavy to try and keep his mental health stable, I think that's a lot of the weight difference you're seeing.
