I Imagine you only needed a few large: supply, Fuel, and Passenger ships to keep this whole fleet going. Imagine a pirate fleet's shock and terror when they see only a few ships on the scope, but when they get close they sudenly get a radar blackout when all the small ships using the big ships signal to mask their presence suddenly appears and attacks like a Piranha Swarm from hell. That's it, I'm getting this game!
main problem with big ships is, unless you turn up the battle sizes normally you can only get about 2-3 big ships (cruisers - capitals) out and then a couple frigates, especially if your opponent is a late game enemy with maxed officers (since the side with better officers gets a higher proportion of the initial DP) This fleet is basically the logical answer to that.
I just had all of the wolf clas ships, damn things are brutal, got a couple larger crafts for slugging it out with larger ships, but everything was outfitted to allow my fleet of up to cruisers outrun frigate fleets
Only playing with Wolf-class frigates for the proper woflpack is very potent as well. Gets you effortless all the way to late game until you have to fight stations.

Just got this game yesterday. Thank you for making this wonderful video. The game is running incredibly smooth and I'm greatly enjoying the early game.
Been doing wolf pack runs lately, wasn't very impressed by the glimmer, it was almost always the frigate to die during a battle. Not sure if that's just the AI core going full badger and fighting until it dies regardless of its flux. I often end up running a SO tempest with double ion pulsers. Once I see an opportunity I disable a ship and let the pack tear it to pieces while I move onto the next. Because of the 30 ship limit and how crowded a swarm of frigates can get i've mixed in bigger ships overtime.
@@Burvjradzite yeah I was only using the one glimmer, so it got focused quick. I feel like 1-2 more glimmers would stick around and draw fire away. That is the big strength of SO frigates, they can rotate who takes the hits to manage the flux. SO'd frigates can rotate very fast leaving narrow windows of vulnerability. Human officers, even the reckless ones, I find will pull out sooner than the AI core'd ones.

@@likeablekiwi6265 Tailor your fleet to what you fight, frigates are cheap, sneaky, and quick. There's certainly a couple of things out there that EAT frigates tho, so its something I store in planet storage.
Nice stuff. With Wolfpack Tictacs, I'd probably go for Leadership 4 (LRLR) and spend the other 5 points into combat, so that I can kill stuff while my other ships kill stuff, too.

Omens are great because their bug zapper works as point defense AND goes through friendly ships. Great for those dense moments when the pack is shoving everyone aside. The scarabs are still hilarious when they shove everything out of their way during their zoomies. =P
It fails as soon as you start facing large fleets, because frigates just lack staying power. Less than t minutes of peak performance time is just not enough when a late game fleet battle can take over an hour.

Get a Monitor with Safety Override, Hardened Subsystem, and Resistant Flux Conduits armed with literally anything that has infinite ammo. Watch that thing solo literally anything except for a Ziggie.
I like that my love of wolfpacks (literally) evolved into actually being great (albeit with a bit fewer wolves and a few more new fun frigates) but for me there are 3 ships I pilot: 1) apogee, my exploration science boy I love 2) doom, gotem, 3) a high tech frigate :D
The admiral and officer builds are flashes throughout video, fleet composition and ship loadout also. The main idea is to quickly swarm your enemy with a wolfpack of best frigates in the game. The ai works more aggressively then opponent is outnumbered. The maximum amount of officers+ai core officers can also compete for the DP, speed and range at the beginning of battle
My current fleet is 5 wolf-classes and a sunder. I prey on hyperspace shipping and lone smugglers on the fringes of the star systems. haven't lost a single ship yet because running is winning if you live.

@@RedGreekWolf if the battle outcome is a win, officered frigates always recoverable. Unofficered ship either do not have s-mods to make their lose not so damaging or have reinforced bulkhead. Even if d-mods are present they are a lot cheaper in restoring than cruisers or capitals. I think there must be a three large remnant ordos or more to defeat this fleet. Otherwise it's unstoppable

Honestly I would have three-five capitals and just all destroyers and frigates if the game would let me, it's not MY fault I have a hundred ships in my fleet, that's more of a you problem.

@@Burvjradzite Highest number of enemies I have ever had to engage is three simultaneous pirate raids on a colony, som 200+ ships all in all, though that was early after an update, so it might not have been intended. Still, with an all frigate fleet you could probably kite them apart.

I mean, I kinda made it with turning everything I owned into a fighter carrier but hell, frigates also sound nice.

Tempest is so freaking good. The game never tells you that its drones double as torpedoes tho. I was very plaisantly surprised when I realise they do.

I like to run two Apogees in the early game just to explore every planet i pass by. Then i drop apogees since it is not combat competitive ship

The only problem I see here is szaying power. If you get cought out by multiple enemy fleets at once you will lack the CR to grind them all down.
I can fight twice in a row with all my crew and then flight for a while
