    Masterful performance by Sting with this classic. You can see and hear that he tempo issues, since there is next to no rhythmic information and hard to keep the tempo aligned with the orchestra. That is what makes this song so hard to perform. Keeping the tempo properly in tune with the orchestra. You can hear that he slips up a few times, but gets back into the proper tempo very fast. In all, this was a masterful performance. Sting is a living legend.

    They do. If I look closer, I see that Sting is looking at his music sheets or lyrics, not at the conductor...

    I'm quite sure he's not on something except herb tea. But if you're a musician you will hear that in the first verse it's really hard to follow the tempo as there is almost no rhythmic information coming from the orchestra. Everytime he's looking to his left, I suppose he's looking at the conductor to try and keep in tempo...

    • @michaelvedal1907
      @michaelvedal1907 Рік тому

      That would be my conclusion too. He also slips up a few times tempo wise, but gets back in the proper one faster than anyone I have ever heard before. He is a master, no question about that.

    i believe that this song helped in the ending of the cold war. it woke up all politicians. before this song we were all told that the russians were bad and the enemy. but if they love their children too, they are as hman as we are. let's hope the muslims love their children too... peace out!

    Who was the enemy in , what you callin, the good old days of the cold war ? I don't know. I was born in West-Berlin and believe me, the russians love there children too. I never had the feeling, that there was any threat. Don*t forget, the americans only used nuclear weapons in a war.

  • @BUTTS59

    Sting wrote this a few years before the fall of the Berlin wall. At the tail end of an era when a hanfdul of powers had the monopoly of nuclear weapons. Now more and sopposedly less 'responsible' regimes are set to join the nuclear club. Back when I was a kid in the good old days of the cold war, we knew who the enemy was. Now were not so sure?

    Yea you're right, it does sound like the music temp is off balance.
    Don't they practice for these things?

  • @Giovanni24614

    Mr. Krushchev said we will bury you I don't subscribe to this point of view
    It would be such an ignorant thing to do If the Russians love their children too
    In Italian
    Il Sig. Krusciov ha detto:" vi seppelliremo" Io non condivido questo punto di vista
    Sarebbe una cosa così ignorante da fare Se i russi amano molto i loro bambini.

  • @BUTTS59
    @BUTTS59 11 років тому +1

    In what I said (lost in translation I guess), you will see we are in agreement. I never really felt any real threat either. The Russians lost 6 million people to the war with the nazi regime in WW2. More then any indiviual country in ww2. Something that the west forgets. I think we kinda knew that the Russians would be crazy to start a war. In a kind of a way I think there was mutual trust. Hence the 'good old days'. Now look who else has the bomb, and with time, more regimes to come!

    It sounds that something he sings out of sync.
    That's weird for a talented artist like sting, maybe he was on something?

    • @michaelvedal1907

      Hard to keep the proper tempo without any rhythm info. I think he did amazingly well.
