    ■About the Hokushinetsu Karate Tournament
The Hokushinetsu Tournament was a preliminary event to the All-Japan Karate Championship during the era of the integrated Kyokushin organization under the leadership of Grand Master Mas Oyama, which used to attract many talented Karate athletes from all over Japan.
This tournament was unconventional where those athletes in Tokyo would venture out to a mere local competition held in the distant Hokuriku area. In such a sense, the Hokushinetsu Tournament served as a pioneering example of local competitions.
Currently in Japanese full-contact Karate, the increase in the number of underage Karate practitioners has led mainstream tournaments to prioritize safety through divisions based on school year, weight class, and the use of protective gear. With the changing times, many dojos in Japan have accepted a greater number of students in the youth and senior divisions compared to adults.
On the other hand, the adult division of this tournament continues to uphold the culture of full-contact rules without any excuses through a legacy established by Grand Master Oyama.
“Justice without power is impotence, just as power without justice is.”
“The essence of technique lies within strength.”
“Without practice, no proof. Without proof, no trust. Without trust, no respect.”
The Hokushinetsu Tournament truly embodies this philosophy by adopting the Kyokushin full-contact rules without any class restrictions where the participants do not wear protective gear.
We thoroughly implement a fair judgment when it comes to proving strength, regardless of organization, school, or group.
This commitment is what demonstrates the respect for strength, as well as practice, proof, and trust, of us as the tournament organizer.
It also aligns with the open and fair mindset of Noriyasu Hamai who serves as Chairman and the founder of Hamai school.
We are eagerly waiting for you to participate in this upcoming tournament held in 2024.
