Coming from a family of Divorce, and a marriage that never should have happened, I never remember any physical abuse ever, but the emotional, mental abuse my Dad inflicted wounds on me, and my mother, and my family, that no one could see. I remember how unhappy she was, sad. I remember how she always protected her children, from my Dads wrath when needed, but could not protect herself. Overtime I forgave my father as an adult with a child of my own. It took a lifetime to resolve the issues. Both my parents now deceased, and rarely think about the past anymore. It did leave wounds, in my mind and heart, my mom who I loved, more than anyone, and the cruel behavior in a loveless marriage. I have had two great husbands that loved me and I loved them. I really had no healthy role model of a father, but neither did he, my Dad. My mother thought he would change, he never did .So seeing Stephanie with her Mother explains alot about her character. I had forgotten this part of her story, as she left the show many years ago, and I actually stopped watching myself when the quality of the acting got worse, along with story lines.
