AOE2 is a finely tuned game with lots of balances, that if distrupted, means that villagers become meta.
how many balances? like 3 balances?
nice reference)
VIllagers are already meta, think about it, how many competitive players play without them? Zero.
WarOwl is that you?
@@algumnomeaihehe yes aoe2 is actually runnable on a triple beam balance
Teal here, I came up with the Strongholds strategy after watching another 256 community game where someone tried to make super-monks with Slavs, but couldn't keep up with the game's speed and wound up losing. That made me think about what units could keep up with the escalating HP you tend to see in 256, and the two answers I came up with were cav archers and Celt Castles. Knowing the importance of having an army's HP and DPS scaling also meant red's boom didn't scare me in this one since I knew they'd be stuck with 160 HP paladins and bombard cannons without siege engineers. In retrospect I wish I hadn't gone Imp at all, because it had occurred to me I didn't really need any Imperial age upgrades, but what can you do. Yellow was about 500 ELO higher than me too, so I probably did about as well as I could have if I hadn't deleted my first set of castles somehow. Still not sure how that happened.
good match gamer
I think the castles exploded because you gave them too much HP and there was an overflow somewhere.
I really like those towers. Pity the Loom blocks it all...
I would have loved to see someone going siege, i dont remember which civ it was, but you can attack from across the map and deal damage to the entire other half of the map.
Just increase damage done and slowly nuke the entire map.
Insane try!
"I decided to remove small trees for the full experience."
That made me so happy. I love the look of normal forests.
40:04 32k HP castle and the 16 bit integer overflow 😂🤣
Love how he went from "red is so OP becuase he has flemish revolution and can make 200 flemish militia multiple times" to "acutally flemish revolution is useless" in 15 seconds
The castles got destroyed because their HP overflowed the short signed integer range of 2^16 / 2 which is 32768
Overflowed meaning it went over the limit and thus wraps around to -32762, i.e. less than zero hp.
am guessing you only need to research great wall a few times
@@LibeliumDragonfly yeah that tech is super dangerous as well lol, although losing walls is better than losing castles
I got a 0 in math class and the teacher took away 1 point from me and it went to 100
@@somebody700 because they though it doesnt matter, signed integers are the norm, and if you need to add or subtract an unsigned integer(damage probably is because repairing and damaging) it can become very unperformant.
2-hour treaty might be problematic, since Burgundians can just chop all trees on the map
Maybe some gaia walls or something? Or have each player sectioned off by opponent walls?
2 hour treat is absurd, in an hour the map can be entirely mined out
Okay but that'd be hilarious.
@@fredranzalot4849 yeah but it would mean 1 hour of literally nothing xD
@@xxlordtinchoxx9015 you haven't heard of the T90 forest nothing podcast?
Integer Overflow is probably my favorite, "not a bug, it's a feature" trick
This match: "I'm under 23*10^23 layers of linen, come at me, bro!"
If Diante is the guy I think he is. He's the one guy that always makes the "1v7 256x mod" in the game browser and destroys everyone.
He has build orders and shit specifically for this mode and map.
yes i believe i have a 95% win percentage over the course of 200 games
@@ethanbrown4167 Hey, where do you play this? It's so hard to find 256x mods that work let alone find 256x lobbies
@@gamaxgbg the mod used here was actualy a custom scenerio which is much more stable. and yes it is hard to fill up 256 lobbies. that was part of the reason i stopped hosting them
Loom vills is a basically unbeatable strategy, is why. Especially on KOTH. Even on conquest you can just go spanish instead and spam Supremacy to unlock the ability to delete other people's units and buildings. Of course nobody unfamiliar with 256x tech thinks of going all in on villagers first, they think of unique techs instead and the only one of those that comes close to vill spam is Torsion Engines.
Mod should add a small menu that allows decrementing tech levels in case you go too far.
That would be much, much harder to implement than just limiting some upgrades.
@@junova7503 Yes....Ive been wondering about that, a feature that scales in a map
Also, I havent played in a bit....is there a forest nothing map vs AI in skirmish? That needs to happen lol
@@openyoureyes909jones6 hmm. No idea tbh. Could be fun a couple times but I'd imagine it'd get boring after a bit given the AI wouldn't intentionally chop through / SO the trees. Basically you could just build range and use the trees to snipe them down without repercussion.
@@openyoureyes909jones6 Should be fairly simple to add as an overlay mod. Effectively just do the same thing you need for 256 but make it so that going to a point where a castle explodes is impossible.
or just stop on x upgrade when it becomes useless
We need SotL to get in here and show us the science of stronghold being upgraded 256 times!
Definitely a collaboration video idea with T90
I want to see someone go for aztec monks. With block printing and illumination you could just convert the enemy units from the other side of the map, while also having thousands of hp.
In HD, the extra HP only works once which kinda sucks. Don't know in DE
@@pavise6333 but 256 sacntities :D
Missionaries are better because of Spanish inquisition and bloodlines
@@refur230 Right, forgot that one
Ho buddy!!! Forest Nothing! Let's Goooo!
Yeah buddy!!!
"T90 you suck" at the end lol
Rather than banning loom, going down to just a simple "x9" or so may be sufficient. Everything would get exaggerated enough to be nonsensical, but low enough so that game rules would not disintegrate
or basically as high as Furor Celtica, Strongholds and Great Wall go without breaking the game as well as the villager speed upgrades
"There is a difference between Fish & Chips and Fish & Chips" -T90
Insane that the most OP tech of them all is the first tech in the tree
You know it's a good video when it starts with "FOREST NOTHING"
Should do this again but without loom! Otherwise loom spam always becomes the go-to strategy.
10x Druzhina with 50 halbs destroys would deal over 25000 DPS to the crowd of villagers (assuming they are attacking from the outside of the blob). It ignores armor, increases range and damage with each upgrade, and scales very well.
Something like 10x or 20x tech might be a reasonable alternative too. Lose the worst bugs and make loom less dominant.
@@walkerhumphrey181 Does it, though? I know Logistica, without mods, only adds to the radius; The amount of damage they deal is part of the type of blast damage.
Monks beat loom
how about just use the ethiopian nuclear program with torsion engines and nuke it all
For anyone wondering about the limit of attack speed in general in the game, the game allows ~20 attack (if I'm generous) per second for any units, so you can't infinitely stack stronghold and similar techs.
I was about to comment "At least Teal was able to build castles again," but decided to wait 'till the end of the video. A good call.
I had the same issue with the 9x mod: castles are destroyed immediately as I try to build them.
I just checked and I smell amazing. If anything needs a good washing with soap, it’s twitch chat’s mouth.
I just realized, Monks could be a counter to the yellow vils
You know, in retrospect I think most of my 30 kills were actually green's cataphracts. I'd set him and red to enemy because they never allied me for whatever reason. Whoops.
I lost it during the crumbs story. This is why we love watching you T90
without infinite loom, you can use the vil speed as scouts to let the laser towers kill everything.
Do a map that is Nothing Nothing. There are zero resources on the map. Everyone is Portuguese and starts with one Feitoria. ;-)
nothing nothing is already a thing, it might also be called trade nothing, because thats what everyone relies on
we should do feitoria but with higher pop games
Its on his chanel. Its called trade nothing.
I think Zeroempires did the Nothing Nothing map first. Back in 2018 when the nothing map craze begun, he created a game called "nothing nothing"
The game starts and the players starts going "uuuuuuh?" In the chat.
There are no resources. There are no trees. There are no terrain features. There is no town center, no villagers.
There is nothing.
Nothing but four confused players, looking at emptiness, slowly realizing they have been trolled.
*I haven't seen resources in 84 years*
Would the poles with massively stacked farm upgrades and a fulwark do more with food than wood? If they delete and rebuild the farm 10% would stack up pretty fast although it is micro intensive.
If you have researched horse collar and heavy plough 256 times you would get 5137.5 food per build. 9617.5 if you also did crop rotation that amount of times. That's super OP.
I was gonna become a cataphract like you, but then I took 1 million arrows to my face.
You need the unit that ignores armor + a lot of damage.
Leitis ;)
yess leitis sound pretty good in here
@@olic7266 You are right. Leitis is the only unit that can actually do damage with this mod. But the problem is loom is much cheaper(and research faster) than any attack upgrade Leitis can get, so you end up with a relatively high attack Leitis vs a ridiculous high hp villager situation.
@@hansenxavier4403 loom is 50 gold and Forging is 150 food, if lith gets bloodlines and husbandry then that's probably a good strategy for this
@@hansenxavier4403 i didnt realise that loom gives +15hp too
It's the armor that makes the difference on the vills. You need a 600ish attack do do even some amount of damage. Crazy game. Love it
T90 Please do this like once a month or something, this is the kind of content I need in my life
Dropped a like just for the crumbs story since it made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that haha
Adding Regicide is probably the way to go, no way to buff a king.
loom spam is still the only way to go though.
@@nguyenming1987 can you research men at arms 256 times?
@@NeighborhoodJackson No, unit upgrades only work once, which is why there were paladin and arbalest jn this game.
@@NeighborhoodJackson no. I not sure about this version ,but in other version of 256x you can research Supplies 256 times, which will give you food very time you create a barrack unit, you can have infinite food by click on training new unit then cancel.
@@nguyenming1987 The guy who won said teal's strategy was better though. He has more than 200 games on Forest Nothing 256x
As always, instant like for x256 Mod. My favorite. Keep it up T90!
I need more of these please, way to fun
I always enjoy watching community games.
Imagine Sicilians researching first crusade
grey is the real winner. while everyone is fighting, struggling, stressing, grey was dancing, running, having fun xD
The ending of this reminded me of the Armageddon spell from populous the beginning.
The difference between the Poles & Byzantines versions of trample is that Byzantines deals 5 damage to nearby units.
While the Poles version does half of the Hussar's attack as physical damage to nearby units.
So while the poles damage can get higher than the Byzantines, it is also effected by armour unlike the Byzantines.
T90s best moove in 2021. Dropping the small trees.
XD his story about crumbs killed me. especially since i did the exact same thing. i told the teacher one day that i had bones for my dinner. and understandably my teacher was very confused. my mom had to explain that we had ham ribs for dinner but since i was now old enough she didn't take the meat of the bone for me. XD it was the really expensive ones too n she never let me forget it.
They REALLY need to make the 256x tech mod available to everyone. I get it was an event thing, but unless they're gonna re-run the event it's not fair on new players
really love this mod! Please upload more!
Lmao that story of the crumbs is hilarious
45:05 - Looks like the villager on the right of the screen is running away and someone is chasing her with a hose.
256x is always so fun to watch. It just gets so ridiculous so quickly
Slightly burnt bits at the edge of the pan.. Bruh. The actual best.
So satisfying watching those thousands or arrows fly
I think the insane think about loom is all the armor it gives. It's so cheap too. So you can upgrade armor and HP with one cheap upgrade.
I thought he was fast forwarding the game but nah, this is insane 11
I am also a big fan of chip crumbs in the corner of the bag, but I learned the hard way at about the same age that the "crumbs" in a bag of pretzels are literally just the grains of salt that fall off. You need a gallon of water after eating those crumbs.
Looool I always hear 'fish n chips' when t90 says fishing ships. Glad it's finally addressed :p
Burmese would be sick if the auto wood upgrades are 256
and Turks with instant free 256x chemistry lol
Also Magyars with free forging, iron casting and blast furnace. That's free 1024 attack. On second thought, may be not so good since vils have even more hp and armor
i can Totally agree to the Crumb Story. This little bits of Goodness mhh :D
I looooove 256 mod!!! I watched the whole playlist!!!
Nobody:
T90: *Villagers go VROOM VROOM*
Khmer, Seige Engineers and Extra Arrows on the Scorpions. Things get scary fast and I never see it used in these videos... 50 Scorpions firing 256 arrows/volley with full map range damaging EVERY unit they pass through..
Yes crumbs, corner bits especially for brownies, anything that has that crispyness
I love how the Forest Nothing notification sound happens right at the start of a Forest Nothing game.
Don't mess with the Pole Peasants Collective!
Dude you gotta do more of this.
T90 talks about salmon in every video and then we he says "fish and chips" we have to understand "fishing ships"? I don't know T90 , think this one is on you man.
And think that gives you another thing that makes you unique, like Dave with next lever game play.
"UA-cam stinks"
Yeah, but have you tried Twitch? *shudders
0:16 t90 over here making me feel good about my math skills.
That Wonder looks like a wasp nest
Culottes are a type of pants I think? There was a French revolutionary movement called the "Sans Culottes," which is hilarious to me.
With so many upgrades, the unit base stats do not matter. Loom is an insanely cost efficient upgrade (+15 HP, +1/+2 armor for 50 gold and 25 sec), so villagers are an extremely good unit with 250x mod. Villages also get wheelbarrow and sappers for speed and building damage. Spanish and Inca villagers would be interesting with the extra attack. No auto attack might make other units better in the super late game.
Those towers at the end man, jeezzz
I haven't laughed this hard at a video in a long time.
I think the Loom Super Vills have trouble closing out games when they have to actually fight and kill an entire enemy side. Pretty sure they'd be less of a problem in Conquest.
Spanish vils with supremacy. Rush in and delete buildings.
Yo yo, man i swear i'm literally eating lays chips lying on bed watching your video what a coincidence 😭😂
The begging of forest nothing games look like such beautiful and peaceful village simulation games.
Only 6 minutes in and cannot stop smiling at T90;s favourite food being the crumbs and burnt crusts of pies, etcetera... Man, you were only telling the truth and that is a good thing! Do not despair: those are some of the things that are the tastiest!
Edit: T90's
Pole farm ability is amazing even in regular games. I have won many battles of attrition thanks to Poles farming and Winged Hussars.
0:03 as my eyes are fixed on the current image, I breathe a sigh of relief. Oh how long I missed this. Ever since DE came out. Now the content shall rise to thrive again. T90tree t90tree.

TBF it's my day off and I haven't showered yet and the notification about UA-cam stinking came up... yeah, fair enough.
Whoa... a T90 video without the small trees mod?? Amazing!
I always dreamed of this decades ago
Look, smarty pants... An ice rink is flat, therefore the planet is flat. Ultimate logic.
Max HP for vils with Loom is 3865 = [25+(256*15)]
You also get +1 armour and +2 pierce armour each time; for a max possible of: 0+256/0+512
Hey T90, I was watching your every video for like 2 years but then lost my interest in AoE2. But I love you so much that I still keep YT alerts on. I hope you'll continue to be the best AoE2 streamer we all love as long as you're happy about it.
30:55 Epic lmao
Came for forest nothing and left with an amazing crumbs story
In Imp, Pol villages regen 20%HP/min. At 2000HP that = 6.666667 HP/Sec.
At their theoretical max HP of 3865 that = 12.883333 HP/Sec.
5:30 tbh the story goes towards crumbs, but till the last second I expected Blue Waffles :D
For you see, T90, you're not dealing with the average Forest Nothing any more.
No Incas? Vils with blacksmith upgrades and loom would be scary as hell....
was thinking the same. Infantry is great but doesn't have enough HP. Inca Vils: "Hold my maize"
im prett sure that inca villagers dont get blacksmith upgrades anymore? still loom is only 50 gold and increases hp+ 2 of each armor, is just too cost efficent. spanish are even better since they also gain attack with supremacy
that was nerfed a long long time ago.
They still get armor and attack upgrades, but it now starts in Castle Age rather than in feudal.
Magyars with free Blacksmith melee attack upgrades in general.. You'd instantly have +1024 dmg on all melee units once you hit imp. Add to that their Magyar Huzars only costing food, you could spam for days.
Historical UA-camrs: Cloth armor was used throughout history due to these several benefits that I will detail in full.
T90: Hey look at how OP Loom is LMAO
FORST NOTHING? IM SO EXCITED!
The reason yellow won was because their villagers had so many Loom upgrades that it didn't matter which unit you throw against them, it would never overcome the armour. As a result, every single attack will deal 1 damage each, and the HP increase meaning that a villager has 3600 HP, it means that _every single villager_ needs to get hit by 3600 attacks before it dies. That's simply not an option for melee units, as the villagers will keep running away and it'll take forever for the melee troops to get 3600 attacks in, and ranged units aren't accurate enough to deal the damage required consistently.
Your best bet would likely be extremely large AoE attacks like the trample damage upgrades for Cataphracts, but those are so expensive that you'll likely not be able to build a large number of Cataphracts, _and_ research trample, _and_ give them decent HP and armour buffs so that they'll survive. Meanwhile, Loom is so cheap that it can be very easily researched a bunch of times, with plenty resources to spare to make a few super strong knights, which is exactly what Yellow did.
I'm curious how gunpowder units like Hand Cannoneers would fare. Would their inaccuracy give them a huge field of inescapable crossfire, or would it just mean they deal no damage? Also, Monks could do quite well. Too bad the Spanish player disconnected, they were probably the only ones that might've been able to deal with yellow.
I always play Spanish on any multitech mod. You get loom, sappers, and supremacy as much as possible to get the strongest villagers in the game. They don't die to anything, and just eat buildings. It also means you don't have to spend any upgrades on any military which saves time and resources.
Battle of the termites
20min in Polish villagers regeneration....
Mic 🎤 drop!
Finally T90 realized that none of the enemy units had anywhere close to enough damage to get over the Armor stats of loomed vills.
