    I can imagine the reason actors vote for him.
    SAG members / actors : Dear Gary, this award is for your performance as Churchill, Sid Vicious, Beethoven, Dracula, Stansfield, Victor Reznov, Jim Gordon, Sirius Black, George Smiley and every role you played. We always admire you, and this just made it official.

      Well, Denzel Washington won last year and he did not get the Oscar. But unless Day-Lewis pulls off some amazing upset at BAFTAs, which I doubt at this point, Oldman has it in the bag.

    They are men Gary, didn't you get the memo, nobody gives a fuck about them.

  • @geatorella

    SHAME SHAME SHAME on SAG Award producers/directors for making us sit through all the drivel from Leslie Mann & Kate Hudson & Gina Rodriguez and then cutting off speeches from the winners. Been waiting 32 years for Oldman to get his due, and then he gets 45 seconds on stage. Get a clue, SAG! This evening is supposed to honor the actors & their performances. It's not a standup routine.

    • @enemsee
      @enemsee 7 років тому +2

      Thank you! I couldn't agree more. This was THE stupidest awards show I have ever watched. And if I hadn't been invested in Gary Oldman finally winning after all these years, I would have turned it off after the first 15 minutes. Horrible show! And the first person to get that stupid music playing while he was speaking was Sterling K. Brown. Interesting. A bit racist? Maybe, I don't know. But I honestly wish they'd just relax and let the stupid show run as long as it runs and stop worrying if it runs over! Who cares? Stop interrupting the winners! But Nicole Kidman can blather on for hours and nobody stops HER!

    Churchill was a fierce, fanatical defender of the Status Quo. An honest reader of Churchill´s memories would have to admit that, in order to defend the status quo and property of the elite, Churchill would have gone to any length of destruction to defend it. “One night, at a small dinner party (at the White House) which included Churchill and his wife (…) the prime minister brought up the subject of Spain. Why couldn´t we have done something to help the Loyalists, the antifascist faction in the Spanish Civil War? Eleanor (Roosevelt) asked Churchill, repeating an argument she had often had with her husband (President Franklin Roosevelt.) The prime minister replied that the two of them would have been the first to lose their heads if the Loyalists had won. (…) Mrs. Churchill leaned across the table said, “I think perhaps Mrs. Roosevelt is right.” His wife's intervention only increased Churchill´s agitation. “I have held certain beliefs for sixty years and I'm not going to change now,” he growled. (…) and dinner was over.
    Churchill was a serious drunk -- and it showed by way of his poor military strategic decisions during the firsts chapters of WWII -- which cost thousands of lives and resources, as it did at Dunkerque. I´ll quote from the many times Churchill visited Roosevelt´s White House during the war: "In the morning, Churchill confronted the President´s butler Alonzo Fields. “Now, Fields,” (…) we have a lovely dinner last night but I have a few orders for you. We want to leave here as friends, right? (…) and three, I must have a tumbler of sherry in my room before breakfast, a couple glasses of scotch and soda before lunch and French champagne and 90 years old brandy before I go to sleep at night.”
    Oldman: you became the actor you are through Edward Bond.
