Up until 1980 or so it was "the" fat kid in class etc. Not very many people were obese. Sure there were some, but there just wasn't as much food around pre-1980 and the average person could not afford to be obese.

When these Hitler Youth turned 17 or 18 they were systematically conscripted into the Wehrmacht, sent to the front lines in Poland. Once they found their way into battle, their physical fitness, training, and stamina were supplemented by ample doses of methamphetamines. During WWII, Germany produced millions of doses of methamphetamines destined to be consumed by soldiers on the front lines.

Woman don't go to the Hitler Youth. They must go to the "Bund Deutscher Mädel". There they went hiking and made other trips. But they also learned manual labor such as sewing and how to run the household. But they were also being prepared for motherhood.

As I watch this, I wonder how many of these young men and women, if any, appreciated how everything is well planned for future military purposes. I suppose it takes a certain maturity to look past the camaraderie and see that the youth games, climbing over walls, running through mud, and marching all appear like basic training as a prelude to war.

The commentary mentioned that it became compulsory in 36, but it was 39 when it was enforced.

I’m a sophomore at Ramapo College and my professor has asked us to do a review on documentary’s about “The Hitler Youth”. Part of the assignment is to reach out to the people who made the documentary. If you can answer a few of my questions that would be great.
What makes you credible to speak upon this topic?
What a shame the way these children were Propagandized. All fun and games until they get sent into the meat grinder. My Pop had a great Friend named Casanova who married a German girl who was raised in the League Of German Girls (female Hitler youth) and she told us all about how all the kids were Forced to join. She told us it was nothing like what the Propaganda Films portrayed and how she hated it. Zero free time for anything, all forced organized activities and constant propaganda pounded into their heads. She obviously wasn’t a believer as she grew up to marry a Mexican-American named Casanova, hardly an “Aryan”!🤣 She was hilarious, I remember her teaching us to swim, she tossed us into the pool and shouted “Shvim or you drown!” LOL. She was a wonderful woman, Herda Casanova and I loved her dearly. I hope she knew how much she meant to us. RIP Herda, you are missed.

I heard the girls were to birth and raise strong Anglo-Germanic (I think that's what the "pure" Germans were) kids for Germany. They were encouraged to get pregnant as much as possible and came back into their groups after breaks pregnant.

I can’t help but be envious of the national unity and comradeship that they had together. They were so passionate about their country and I wish to repeat this with a more positive goal.
