a little fun fact about bees that i found, bees work together in a crisis situation, i was in my room the other day and i saw a bee get stuck in my window (in between the glass and the screen) about a minute later another 5 bees showed up, and basically this took about 30min for it work, but the 5 bees actually worked together to get the bee that was stuck free.

I'm researching to become a beekeeper and I loved this! The more I find out about bees the more I'm amazed.
As Stephan B. and others stated below, there is a mistake at 2:19. The video states "A drone bee can fly out of the hive... once he gets to a set of flowers ...grabs some nector..."
A drone's only purpose is to mate with the queen. They don't collect nector or pollen - they don't even have a stinger. The worker bees are all female and they are the ones that collect nector & pollen, draw comb (make the bees wax), collect water, take care of the baby bees, take care of the queen, protect the hive, and on and on.

wasps eat insects, such as mosquitoes. They are actually quite different from bees, having a very different diet. I do prefer honey bees over wasps though.

its all the natural selection wasps are the more agressive while bees are more the passive oy im just passing by but then again there still is some good wasps out there and also hornets are basicly a different type of bee/wasp

Democracy itself's great. Communism is also a brilliant concept, but only works in small autonomous societies.
Communism turns instantly into totalarian facism the moment it has a government mandating everything.
The problem comes when people start labeling China, Nazi Germany, soviet russia etc as "democracy" or "socialist" or "communist" when they're clearly all examples of fascist dictatorships.

Raw garlic is king when it comes to killing parasites. And since it has no known side effects, you can consume a whole bulb each time you eat it. The sulphur compound "Allicin" in garlic, is the deadly weapon. However, it is an unstable compound and only remains stable for about 10 minutes after you mince it, so you want to eat it within that time period. Before you mince your garlic, first scramble some eggs and then mix the garlic into them. You can also add some mayo as though you are making an egg salad. Eating it with the eggs will absorb most of the sting of the raw garlic I have found

They only do it once, though, because the queens have inward-facing hairs that grab onto the drone's boy parts. He tries to pull out, but ends up leaving his junk behind.

As far as I know, Africanized Honey Bees aren't affected by Colony Collapse Syndrome, and domesticated populations have been hit far worse than wild populations.

This is so cool! My dad and I are beekeepers, so we know a lot about them, but I didnt know any of the things that you addressed. My favorite insect is a giant honeybee like the kind found in Borneo. i am a bug fan ,and although most larvae gross me out, I actually think bee larvae are kinda cute. I can see me holding a big larva and listening to ti trill.

Bees are at the top of my favorites list based on how much they do, and how tolerant they are. I've never been stung by one. You leave them alone, and they do their thing. Fig wasps live an interesting life. Butterflies are interesting. Dragonflies are neat. I like the Meganeura, which had a wingspan bigger than a pigeon, at 28". I wonder if their wings made noise in flight. Palaeodictyopteroidea is a weird one because there's so little information from the Permian period. Mosquitoes are a pain, but interesting no less. Earth's a crazy place.

thax, by far the best episode, to me
and not even to mention all the medicinal properties of the honey,
yeah, and honey never goes off
very sad that today the honey you buy in the shop are mostly heated which kills the good properties in the honey, they only do it to poor the honey better into the jar, and be careful also some honey has added sugar sirup in it for more profit.
and yeah, the honey also directly reflects the area bees collected in, no honey is the same

I love bees, they look cute. Yesterday I had to take care of one very tired bee (she tried to escape through my closed window for few hours and was barely moving when I found her) and I gave her few drops of water and she got better and flew away :D Amazing insects

On the other hand, the company that comes up with a cure for HIV could make a lot of money off a cure. If a company didn't want to come out with a cure to protect their existing market share, a competitor would.

"He" that's funny; worker bees are all sterile females, whereas drones are the fertile males, and queens (and to-be queens) are the fertile females.
