West Point Historic Time Capsule Opening

The U.S. Military Academy will open and unveil the contents of a nearly 200-year-old time capsule during a ceremony on August 28 at 10:30 a.m. in Robinson Auditorium at Thayer Hall. The time capsule was found in the base of the Thaddeus Kosciuszko monument during recent renovations. Tune in live as we discover the contents of this historic box!

Not only does this show cadets have enjoyed empty boxes since the inception of the academy, but also commemorates the best spirit mission in academy history. 10/10 would get my hopes up again

I might suggest the box held some soil from Kosciuszko's home country and perhaps, seeing how it was created after his death, a momento of his that had been around like a clip of his hair.
I don't see the event as being a failure! It's the exploration that counts, not the finds. Finding what little there was opens further avenues for more exploration and on and on. Science is like that.

I might suggest that the box may have held nothing more than some soil from Poland along with, possibly, a lock of his hair.
