Yes, congregation has to EMPHASIZE the importance. I am sure occasional pop songs type with singers all in black and smoke machines can praise God, regrettably they can not be the only songs else the church does not have church atmosphere anymore. One church I went to could not even have the hymn Amazing Grace sung and accompanied in its original version for the whole song because the second verse is pop style. So sad. These hymns are not old, they are ever green.

You know talking about growing up in the church of the Nazarene I too was raised in the Nazarene church, the Nazarene church was known as the singing church! We had evangelistic sunday night services with up beat singing and testamonies too! Sadly this has gone by the wayside in many churches.Anymore Nazarenes out there? I would love to hear their comments concerning this.Oh the foundational hymns of the church they are the backbone of the church! Wonderful singing!

@@jonathanumstead4608 You know I had some additional thoughts to share, we used to have sunday night services, wednesday night services amd singspirations when other churches used to join together to have a sunday night sing together, not so any more and the last revival we had was almost 10 years ago people dont seem to think we need revivals anymore sad dont you agree? However I am still a Nazarene I am still true to my roots and believe in the old time way. May God Bless you!
