Our only issue with Chance was he put out a truly dog shit album after putting out great music and making us think he was just going to keep going. But I get it, he had to do his own thing. And the DJs, Promotors, Tourism officials, they will all roll out the red carpet and be so welcoming and accommodating. Because it's appreciated, as it doesn't happen often. The reality is that the industry was led by white men who did not prioritize bringing artist to Africa/The Caribbean. And it's given the artist a false impression that those places are not interested, easy to navigate, or worthwhile. Happy artist are now gaining more autonomy and independence and realizing what's what.

I never listenned too much to Chance the Rapper. Maybe 1 or 2 songs max. (just laziness, no good reason) but based on this interview he is definitely NECESSARY in this culture
Also, for clarity *one* of the largest slave ports was in Ghana. But depending on which colonial power was purchasing human capital and where they were being taken, and the time period, there were larger ports than in Ghana. The Island of Gorée (Dakar, Senegal) is a tiny island off the coast of Senegal. And in fact, Gorée was the largest slave-trading center on the West African coast between the 15th and 19th centuries. At one point Ouidah, Benin was one of the most active slave trading ports in all of Africa. Europeans called the Bight of Benin and the surrounding region the “Slave Coast” because of its importance in supplying American markets with African laborers. Historians estimate that over the course of two centuries, Ouidah alone exported more than one million Africans before closing its trade in the 1860s. Only one other port in Africa (Luanda, in Central Africa) transported a greater volume of slaves. Please let's get the facts straight. One country cannot co-opt history. About half the enslaved Africans in *America* came from Ghana… but remember, enslavement was occurring throughout the Caribbean and parts of South America.

When you hear hip hop music u know that’s hip hop, when you hear RnB or jazz or soul or country or whatever kinda music u immediately know what you listening to, Chance’s music is so pure, so real, so soft, so soothing, so powerful, so pure and unfiltered, and thus a genre on its own, he’s a genius, a God’s gift to the listening ears, and the world will be eternally grateful for committing to making this art, and not be influenced by the money or accolades that big numbers, stay true to yourself brother 💯❤️
