Roger's levels never fail to endlessly entertain me, i never knew an awesome animator like him could make the same amount of awesome mods that perfectly blend his style into the game!
The description is interesting to me because the main reason SRB2 is my favorite Sonic fan game is that I feel like it's less momentum obsessed than other 3D fan games, and less speed-obsessed than the official 3D games (Frontiers notwithstanding.) I never feel like SRB2 sacrifices platforming and exploration to put me in a linear corridor and go a morbillion miles an hour like SA2 does, or shoot me ten feet in the air and skip a bunch of the level like Sonic GT does, I'm always actually playing a level.
I like how getting the helicopter ride working was probably a weird technical limitation issue so they had Sonic riding gusts of winds off the blades of them instead, neat touch
The thing that I love from this fangame it's the actual "freedom" that gives you in the levels, entirely the best, or at least in the top 3 best Sonic fangames of all time
Ever since I played Generations Speed Highway again I've been jonesing for a level that involved having Sonic speed through a mall or some sort of building in that nature and that Speed Highway stage came awfuly close. Too bad they couldn't' manage to have the night change to day/dawn it would have damn near perfect
I like how it's authentic to the real Sonic Adventure 1+2 experience: The sound effects are louder than everything else and completely overpower them! 🤣
I remember absolutely hating this fangame. After replaying it I changed my mind about it and now it's one of my favorite Sonic games, up there with SA1/2 and S3&k!
Really love Speed Highway's interpretation here. A lot of the major setpieces are implemented from the original stage, but still adds a lot of its own twists to stand out as its own level. I think it even surpasses Generations in that regard, by letting you run through more of the building interiors and adding the final dawn section.
After playing this games hours and hours on end, I still have so much difficulties to control Sonic, but you're making him cruise around the level like it's nothing. Your gameplay is impressive !
As graphic design student, this is so far one of the best levels I've seen. It brings fresh ideas to the game, while keeping it dynamic. I like the cameos and references to the late 90s culture. Hope this can be a milestone that becomes a full game using srb2 engine. I wonder if there's a way to have not so intense colors in the game, like more pastel like colors. Hope someone's hosts this on a server to give it a try myself. Combine it with the modern monitors mod for best results. That mod replaces classic monitors with the ones featured on sonic riders and related.
Recently replayed the main campaign with a whisper mod I found, absolute blast of a time to see so many sonic characters be playable and have various unique mechanics to them, another example being the Tanlge mod that basically lets you go spiderman all around every single level out there as long as you know what you're doing, and it's SO GOD DAMN FUN. This game is so customizable that even if you don't make a mod yourself there's enough good quality content out there to basically make your own sonic game with whatever playable characters you want and whatever stages you want, no playthrough gets to be the same, and the best part? it also has multiplayer with up to other 31 people on the same map, plus gamemodes too. also system compatibility, you can get a friend on an android device to play with you if you wanna, and modding that version is as easy as the pc version too.
Me personally I don't mind replaying official Sonic games and I think the difference in replayability is that SRB2 is replayable due to all the mods, and the official games are replayable due to trying to reach for a faster time and get better. That's not to say SRB2 doesn't have those too, but the main aspect in replaying the game itself are the mods SRB2 is awesome but i still love the official games
@@monochrome_but_poly yeah, but the official games aren't as easy to do so and doesn't have as much mods, the only ones that probably come close to SRB2 are the classic genesis games and generations

I'll admit that to an extent, I was one of those people, but I've always enjoyed a lot of the official games for what they were and root for Sonic Team because I know that good official Sonic games CAN be made by them and they are at least trying. With all of that said, I do still love SRB2 so damn much and while I do enjoy the main campaign, the modding community especially is what keeps me coming back. But yeah.
