+NeonBlackHeartAttack yep! Clear resin is tricky, it looks great but it can be hard and expensive. This technique will give you good looking eyes either way :)
Any suggestions on doing realistic or anime (not big doughy eyed but more like... maybe the bestials from Grimoire of Zero) eyes that have great ability to see through?
Question. What kind of eye texture would I use to make the eyes look creepy and cartoonish because I'm trying to make a horror game that I'm still working on and I can't find a really good texture for some of the characters.
+Malevolent The Dragon there is! Usually an acrylic or glass half sphere, also called a cabochon. You paint or glue a print of your design on the back :)
You could probably carefully press the baked, painted and finished clay iris into some fresh resin. You may need to pour some resin on top of the iris itself first to make sure you don't create any bubbles though.
This is a really creative technique! I love realistic eyes but never liked the follow-me effect because, like you, I love the performing aspect of fursuiting/cosplaying and want it to be obvious where the creature is looking. I'll definitely give this a try. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. :'3
how do u see out of it?🤔 I love how you did the eyes and I will try that technique to I'm a young furry and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about making fursuits thank you so much for this inspiration😁
+rainbow wings with this technique you would have to have your vision come out of the mouth or have a mesh in the tear duct area(right next to the eye) of the suit right that you can see through
Kazplay Videos okay that's how I usually see out of mine is just when I seen Gray-Mane it looked like he had like in the tear ducts a little space to see but it looks a little too small to see if so I assume that maybe you saw the mouth of him he is really cool keep up the great work😁
I've watched this 4 times, and I'm still amazed. These eyes are so unbelievably cool and realistic! The depth you created with the different colors and the sculpting is just incredible. The finished monster head is AMAZING. You are seriously talented!
amazing! thank you for this great explanation! and it is nice that you added an explanation about the difference between resin cast eyes with a flat back and these eyes :)
just would like to say... how in the world do you not have more subscribers?!? you have amazing techniques and have awesome vids! can't wait to see more tutorials or just vids on your costumes/creations :D
It is only easy to you becasue you already know it. Be carefull with calling things easy. I am sure even a heart surgeon think eventually his operations are easy. Easy is always only for the one teaching. Consider stop calling things easy. It makes your videos better.
I will keep that in mind for the future videos. I have worked really hard to make an even better version of my eye kit that is even more user friendly with fewer steps involved. I haven't made a video about that kit yet, but the link is in the description
Thank you for sharing! I've loved watching your progress on Hogger, that's how I found you (on Twitter), and I've been looking through your backlogs since. I'll definitely have to try this technique out once I have reason to. For future reference, do you think white/other colors of craft foam could be used for the sclera? Or do you think it wouldn't work out/would show because of the black backing for the pupil? I could always try it out and let you know, haha.
+Fox Mulder I have done it with a off white/brownish sclera on a Lynx cosplay I made earlier this year and it worked well! I just painted the black foam (it wasn't too hard) you can use white or another color foam, just put a small piece of black fabric or foam just over the hole in the back before doing the whole sclera bit :)
Ok, ok, I know this is a cheesy question and it's pretty annoying but, I was wondering if you do commisions?also this will be a big help in the future for me.
You don't see through this kind of eye, you have to hide the vision ports somewhere else. I like having the vision through the mouth, but you can also put some mesh on the inside corner of the eye, it's often called "tear duct vision"
Or... You wrap a bunch of yarn (colors are your choice) around the shape you want(like a pompom) and then put it in a circular mould filled with clear resin. Done! YOU now made a no effort version which'll look worse
+The Art Ocelot actually that is a fun idea! The texture and varitey that you could do with the yarn colors would be really neat, thanks for the idea! I might to a crucible video about that :)
Kazplay Videos tbh, I thought that it was originally made from wool in resin until I looked at the video, you could also try coloured resin with 1 colour of wool
What's the best base for a realistic head? I heard foam was the best from a couple, sometimes people say resin, whatever, I just have no idea what to use to make it look the best and as realistic as possible
That base was made from resin. Its good to make realistic heads from, but I'm always disappointed in how heavy resin can get. I have been trying to make realistic heads from foam for the past couple years now
Tiny Badger here on YT linked me to this from her recent dragon puppet. These are beautiful eyes. I started off wondering why you didn't just use acrylic cabuchons and a printed eye but then when the camera zoomed in on the head and the eyes ate the end and i saw the depth of detail that came through in just a video I didn't have to wonder. The depth of detail in person must be striking.
I sculpt and hope you don't mind if I add a tip. If you can't get any isopropyl myristate, lighter fluid or naptha works well. You have to let it sit for a few minutes before working with it so the clay dries.
This particular head has the vision out of the mouth, but yes tearduct vision or another location for a mesh to see through would be needed, you cannot see through these eyes
Well, the pupil is a hole to the hollow inside so no drilling necessary on the new version of my kits :) the resin is opaque white though so I don't think it would glow that much, but I'd love to see the results of your experiment!
I have done that! It looks cool but can't be a little tricky getting rid of bubbles. I even added a tiny bit of white pigment to give my goatman eyes a milky blind look!
@@KazplayVideos OOOH I gotta check that out! Btw you've also saved my life. I was trying to figure out a unique way of pulling off this effect aside from doing that thing of just designing the eye on a halfway resin pour inside the mold, or using a printed design. This was so helpful!
If you don't have isopropyl myristate, you can use gentle heat from a heat gun or hairdryer for removing fingerprints from monster clay. If you're not careful it will melt the whole thing though.
FINALLY an eye tutorial that doesent require resin!!! XD
+NeonBlackHeartAttack yep! Clear resin is tricky, it looks great but it can be hard and expensive. This technique will give you good looking eyes either way :)
Exactly! Thank you!
Resin will still look the most realistic. Layers of resin and paint will blow your mind!
Finally i can make realistic eyes with things i can easily buy! Thank you!
This is awesome, thanks so much for the tutorial. I always find it so interesting the new techniques people can create. The eyes are stunning!

One eye to rule them all
I love it... thx for the idea.
This is genius!!
I have to try those in my next fursuit! They are goregous and so easy to make
awesome. by the way your eyes are beautiful
Any suggestions on doing realistic or anime (not big doughy eyed but more like... maybe the bestials from Grimoire of Zero) eyes that have great ability to see through?
I haven't made anime style eyes yet, but it's something that has interested me! I will get a tutorial made on that subject one day
That is really cool, do you ever made eye's that glow in the dark? Really enjoy the tutorial.
I have used florescent paint, but not glow in the dark yet. I know it would be really neat though!
how can u make these but have them light up. im making a giant dragon like creature puppet
I did an experiment with lighting them up here ua-cam.com/video/RO88zp5Pblg/v-deo.html
Question. What kind of eye texture would I use to make the eyes look creepy and cartoonish because I'm trying to make a horror game that I'm still working on and I can't find a really good texture for some of the characters.
bueniiiiiiisimo
So is there no way to have a realistic, three-dimensional following eye?
+Malevolent The Dragon there is! Usually an acrylic or glass half sphere, also called a cabochon. You paint or glue a print of your design on the back :)
Oh. To be more specific, I meant, is there a way to have a 3-D material in the back that still follows?
You could probably carefully press the baked, painted and finished clay iris into some fresh resin. You may need to pour some resin on top of the iris itself first to make sure you don't create any bubbles though.
+Larthan Oo, sounds interesting. That'll be a lot of resin, hmm. Would that still create the 3D effect?
It would be a colored piece suspended inside a clear casing, so it would look similar to some taxidermy eyes (though those are made of glass).
Would Polyform Model Air (Air Dry Modeling Clay) work for this process?
Yes, I believe it would, though I haven't used it myself
Is Fimo clay okay? XD probably not ovo oh well worth a try? It’s the only clay I have right now XD
Fimo clay would work great
Kazplay Videos ok, thx! I was hoping it would! ^^’
How can you see in those?! Or You can't?
+WackyOtter1102 you're not meant to see out of them, you would have to use tear duct or mouth vision
Eats your finger prints off of your Sculptures? Can i use 91 percent alcohol?
It's been a while since I made this video, I thought that's what I used, but 91 should work!

Myristate is pronounced mer-ris-tayt. You left out a couple of syllables and swapped the position of the “r”.
Oh, thanks for correcting me! I'll try to remember next time
Great idea used these domes before for many projects, I real like the depth you get, could these be used in a blinking eye puppet do you think?
Honestly I think it could work! Tiny1badger made a blinking puppet with chrismast ornaments
Pushing farley deep because the cracks will get smaller while working with it.
Yep!
How do you see through it? I might’ve missed that part… I’m using this for rocket raccoon 😄.

You can give it a try, but I don't think it would give you the same effect
Can I use polymer clay for this? I don't have monster clay and I do not know any craft store nearby me with monster clay
Yes, you can use polymer clay! If you use it then you can skip the step of making a mold and use your cooked peice directly in the eye :)

Yep! Should work just fine, there will be a bit of shrinking so keep that in mind
hi how waterproof are these i make willow sculptures and im interested in making some different sizes
Resin is waterproof, it's just like plastic. You might need to worry more about the uv stability and waterproofing of the paint and clear domes
I’d like to see the texturizing in real time, up close - at least the first few strokes of each tool.
That's a good idea, I can revisit this tutorial
Just bought some globes, can’t wait to try these for my Halloween props! Do you have a tutorial on how you make his teeth?
I don't, but it was essentially just sculpting them, then casting them out of resin, then painting
I have all these things at home, but I don’t have the clear ornament. Is there any alternatives? I can’t leave my house with the quarantine.
sorry for the late reply, I don't know any alternatives that are quite as easy, maybe a giant googly eye, but it wouldn't be quite the same shape
I wish I could have hogger

I know this video is a few years old, but can I use this to make eyes that have a white pupil?
That's a good question, I think it could work, but I haven't given it a try with this eye kit in particular
What can i use besides the clear bulbs
But how you see whit that ?
You can't see through this eye, but would need to place a vision port elsewhere. Common places include through the year duct or mouth
@@KazplayVideos ok

Genn Greymane cosplay? Hell yeah!

I think the idea could, but it is an exaggerated realism, it maybe a bit over the top for taxidermy
