  • Heard of #Zola? It's one of the biggest movies at #Sundance 2020. #AZiahKing, the dancer whose Twitter feed inspired the film, talks alongside writer/director Janicza Bravo, star Taylour Paige, and co-stars Riley Keough, Nicholas Braun, and Colman Domingo to get to the heart of this real-life story.

Absolutely not rare for an independent movie, it was Zola’s story being “adapt” for the screen. Hiring her on as a Consultant avoids lawsuits and provides authenticity. It also provides Zola with the opportunity to get her foot inside the door for future projects.

Zola had a weird vibe: it reminded me of a cross between Taxi Driver and Pulp Fiction but updated for the times we are in now. It is very good! If you’re looking for a standard Hollywood or even Indy film, this isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a a very well done story that is visually appealing and also provides a look of worlds that most of us will never know, this is the movie. The two main characters are so good in the movie.

@@taknighisbeauvoir2996 Yeah, I posted this same exact question to another one of these cast interviews and someone else said more or less the same thing so yeah the moral of the story here seems to be that it was probably James Franco. Maybe someone will eventually come out with the truth so we all don't have to assume so much. =)
