Absolutely not rare for an independent movie, it was Zola’s story being “adapt” for the screen. Hiring her on as a Consultant avoids lawsuits and provides authenticity. It also provides Zola with the opportunity to get her foot inside the door for future projects.
i was in high school when this thread came out and still remember people talking about it for WEEKS!! Just saw the movie in theaters last night..... i went back a second time it was so good lol.
WEEKS! Huh..sounds like H.S. You seem very studious.. stay focus on getting that education. Sorry, College must suck with this pandemic 😷 I just saw the movie on SHOWTIME and definitely plan to watch it again
Zola had a weird vibe: it reminded me of a cross between Taxi Driver and Pulp Fiction but updated for the times we are in now. It is very good! If you’re looking for a standard Hollywood or even Indy film, this isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a a very well done story that is visually appealing and also provides a look of worlds that most of us will never know, this is the movie. The two main characters are so good in the movie.
Wtf the lead actress can barely get a word in . the writer talks to much let the actors reiterate on characters. Their experience. The director is loathing attention
The real Zola definitely capped lol you mean she didn't trick herself but knew to up the prices lmao. She made herself look like diamond from players club
That white chick. 😆 You say that like she's some random girl and not Elvis Presley's granddaughter. And yeah, Taylour Paige has said they didn't know if Riley (aka white chick) had the flu or Covid. Taylour and Riley joke about it now.
@@cassie4965 I've seen Riley in a couple of movies and obviously recognize her.. Not giving her more or less respect than anyone else deserves, but it's not like she is a nobody. Her family connection open doors in Hollywood just like with any other famous offspring. The Presley name is music royalty.
Kind of random but the director said in a podcast that she almost didn't get to make this movie and that it was down to her and another director. Anyone have any idea who the other director was?
@@taknighisbeauvoir2996 Yeah, I posted this same exact question to another one of these cast interviews and someone else said more or less the same thing so yeah the moral of the story here seems to be that it was probably James Franco. Maybe someone will eventually come out with the truth so we all don't have to assume so much. =)

James Franco who wanted to make the white girl and zola switch places. So glad this director got it so it stays true to Zolas voice
Does no one remember *_Sh!t my dad says_* ? Not a movie, but certainly the first semi-successful attempt to adapt twitter to screen (even if it was tv)
Obsessed with the viral twitter thread for all these years... I am quite literally dying to watch this.
Max S omg same
Riley Keogh was outstanding in this... her character reminded me of a carbon copy of woah Vicky.. I was laughing all the way through.
I still remember when she tweeted that story 😭
I watched Zola 2/27/22 and 2 thumbs UP!! Love Kevin Smith - DOGMA Baby!!!!
the girl who said she had pneumonia probably had covid lol. this was right before quarantine.
Omgg ur right
Love the movie ❤️👍👍
I wonder if the other characters in this story are making any money off this
Zola, the main character and writer did
Can Kevin Smith stop dressing like an elementary school kid that raided his fathers closet
YES !!
This "director" is cracking me up. What a phony! Hun, have a seat. Have a FEW of them.
What makes you say that?
Shes perfect
In the movie, I hope the two chicks make out :)
Jessica actually died in jail and Zola lives to tell her story!
@@miamisimms88 where did you learn that? I can't find anything like that online or really anything about her now at all
@@miamisimms88 Jessica has another baby now and a new family she's alive
@@charliewright585 no she has a new family, baby, man and life. She's alive and well.
I'm just here for the fact they really involved Zola in everything.
That's rare in the movie business.

How is this unassuming A'ziah the same electric voice as the author of the tweets?
The cast and director have great chemistry. You can tell that they genuinely enjoy being around each other. Looking forward to seeing the film.

So the movie is about a woman’s account of witnessing sex trafficking first hand?
Basically
And selling her as well.
Riley had that early Corona
Love love loveee Zola! So proud of her 💗
This was one of the best movies I had seen in years. Wickedly entertaining foray into a seedy and dangerous world.
Is that silent bob?
That’s what I’m thinking
Yes!!!! Except that he's not that silent!!!

I never heard the story until this movie came out
You can tell by Janicza Bravo's passion for the film, that she has been living and breathing this project for months.
She admitted it was fake years ago when she first tweeted the story out …
Oh really lol
The real Zola definitely capped lol you mean she didn't trick herself but knew to up the prices lmao. She made herself look like diamond from players club
Pneumonia in 2020? Sus 🤔 hahaha jokes aside they all did amazing! what a great movie!

Zola didn’t make $800. It’s hard to even make $600, most men in clubs prefer the blondes over her
