Not really, that album is pretty well known and pretty easy to acquire. And if you are a Rodney fan, you know about and probably have it. Not that big of a bummer since the primary reason for sharing records during a Nardwuar interview is to inform the audience about music and entertainment history.
I was listening to a bunch of Nardwuar. Then I was listening to a bunch of Marc Maron. Then I found this. Well, it looks like I've come full circle internet.
This is the moment at the end of the movies where you slowly close your laptop and fall asleep with a smile on your face. Somebody finds you the next day and sees that you passed a happy man.
I went in the reverse order. Watched GLOW when it first came out, then IFC's Maron shortly after, his stand up, then found Nardwuar from a /r/youtubehaiku post and dug from there. I'm seeing Marc on saturday at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, super stoked.
He's totally like this in real life after he did a show my friend and I stayed in the lobby cause we heard he would come out sometimes to meet fans and sure enough he did, in fact he met with every single person that wanted to meet him, if you get the chance totally meet him!
Marc really kept his cool here. I was expecting him to lose his shit at Narduar. ...I usually expect everyone to lose their shit at Narduar though. His genius can be lost on people quite frequently...
TheWhiskett see I don’t get that. I’m always surprised when someone I respect treats Nard poorly and it often causes me to drop my opinion of them a notch. How can you not love a dorky Canadian superfan that knows all your shit? It’s like the definition of lovable you’d think especially for an artist. I don’t get the hate
@@samsungtelevision695 I think eccentricity just seems to rub people off the wrong way for some reason. It feels like a lot of artists assume that Nardwuar is trolling or mocking them with his strange behavior.
Thank you Nardwuar.. this is great. I've been goin through some tough times, mentally, and your interviews make my day. I love how you dig deep and surprise the guest, you can tell you make them feel special, and that you're both happy to be there (for the most part). You're the best. From Thunder Bay.
I love the fact that you're doing more interviews with comedians! If you really want to get some instant indie stand-up cred, you gotta interview Eddie Pepitone or Joey CoCo Diaz. They both just recently released really interesting documentaries on their respective backgrounds and comedy careers, and they've both led some pretty amazing lives. Keep on riffing in the free world
Haha, I love that Marc just says "I don't know if I was the first guy on the internet" so off-handedly in his reply and the utterly deadpan "not at all".
Usually, in every Nardwuar interview, there will always come a point where the interviewee will ask, 'How do you know that?'. Amazing. Just shows how Nardwuar is a fine researcher - which sets him apart from other journalists.
Multiple interviewees have described their experience with him as "the best interview in their life." He's being grating on purpose because the way celebrities respond to such an ambush is very telling. It reveals a lot about them that a normal, scheduled interview would not. Take a look at some more of his stuff, and make note of how quickly he's able to get people to go from "who the fuck is this guy?" to being fully conversationally engaged.
I think he was pointing something out, which I hadn’t considered: guests are forced into reactivity when gifts are given on-camera, and some people already really dislike ‘opening presents’ while others watch, let alone during an interview with a really intense eccentric dude
I absolutely enjoy Nardwuar as a leverage point upon perspective. Metaphorically speaking, he has a martial arts form that is guaranteed to unbalance, illicit, glean perspectives, and always oddly innocent, clean, and non-combative.
I recently found Marc from an interview with Henry Rollins and then I found this video.. One of the first Narduwar videos I saw was the Henry Rollins interview.
“It’s nice to be here at sxsw, are you here working for the festival?” “No Im here representing Nardwuar!” Then proceeds to give a crazy interview that is in depth, full of real research and hard work given by a nerdy punk rocker. Nardwuar does mostly interviews of punk bands and hip hop groups, then some comedians and other stars, politicians, and Snoop dogg. But every interview always tries to get a punk or hip hop connection with them, even if it’s a comedian he’s interviewing. Nardwuar is in 2 punk bands! This guy just loves good music and wants to interview his hero’s n stuff, I’m just shocked he hasn’t gotten a show on tv yet. Someone from HBO needs to watch some Nardwuar interviews, the way he’s treated by his subject is fucking gold! I could see something about Nardwuar being produced by HBO! Is he on the Radio full time or is that something he does once a week? Is it a commercial music station or something on the University campus? I need to find out more about Nardwuar! Check out his tedtalk video, its awesome!
He has probably the most popular podcast in the world, he's actually pretty huge, but it's just a different circle that he runs in than most people here would know to be honest
I can't decide what I like more. The people who have no idea who Nardwuar is and then you see this WTF look on their face as something super minute is asked them or the people who know him and are antsy with anticipation of what Nardwuar will throw out their way.
Marc Maron shouldn't wonder about why his career didn't go to the places he wanted it to. This interview shows why it didn't and why the alternative comedy scene is as laughable as it is to the actually funny comedians who don't try to be part of a movement. What an attitude on this guy.
not fake. the pics were real. nard and fantano both posted pics from the interview. he's probably just saving it for the last sxsw interview he'll post.
Marc Maron has always talked about how he doesn't get "silly" things and I doubt that a guy whose been involved in the comedy scene and avid music fan doesn't understand Nardwaurs performance, he just doesn't like it.
"I already have this" - must be the biggest bummer for Nardwuar.
Not really, that album is pretty well known and pretty easy to acquire. And if you are a Rodney fan, you know about and probably have it. Not that big of a bummer since the primary reason for sharing records during a Nardwuar interview is to inform the audience about music and entertainment history.
777jordan I thought the polite thing to do is just accept the gift graciously and not say anything
yes
he said it like twice. because Marc Maron is a G
@@devinkk 'I already have this... I already have this... I'm not an obsessive collector'
Marc just assumes everyone knows this much about him.
This is what we're all thinking haha
I was listening to a bunch of Nardwuar. Then I was listening to a bunch of Marc Maron. Then I found this. Well, it looks like I've come full circle internet.
Ditto.
Same
I took a trip from listening to Armisen on WTF to Armisen on Nardwuar

this might be the first "i already have this" when nard pulls out a record
It’s happened with a few others
@@WorldsWorstBoy yes yes, off the top of my head, 40 said it in the interview with drake
Marc Maron: Where’d you hear that...?
And so it begins.
Nardward v. Joey Diaz would be some legendary shit
he'd show up with joeys Cuban cousins records.
he'd probably even show up with that one hooker's burnt wig.
Shows up with the guy he kidnapped
OMG YES
Joey could give him a death star
The interviewer who does too much research interviewing the interviewer who doesnt like research.
I'll repeat what another said: more comedians & podcasters, please...
Nardwuar vs. Paul F. Tompkins!
oh my god i would love to see pft with nardwuar
tim heidecker or andy daly
Who's that dog
He's totally like this in real life after he did a show my friend and I stayed in the lobby cause we heard he would come out sometimes to meet fans and sure enough he did, in fact he met with every single person that wanted to meet him, if you get the chance totally meet him!
When I worked at Shakespeare and Co. In NYC (bookstore), he came in one day, around 1999. I told him I was a big fan and he was very nice.
Marc Maron looks like the real life Ned Flanders.
Ned's indie brother
Wasn't Marc on an episode of The Simpsons?
"Yeah, I have this"
"Oh, I have this"
"I have this as well"
Poor Nard. Maron is sicko beast mode when it comes to comedy and vinyl.

I had no idea this existed and now Im Happy
Can't believe I've been a fan of these guys since around the time this happened and am just now seeing it... the internet is strange like that.
Same but I was hoping it was Marc Maron interviewing Nardwuar
"Will do" was genius.

norm macdonald now
I think Norm would be really aprecciative of narwuar!! I would love to see that
@ayyy__donkey u right lord quas
I actually really like Marc Maron after watching this. He seems like a genuine and honest kind of guy.
u hear his wtf interview w gallagher?
Thank you Marc Maron for Rodney Dangerfield does not get the respect he deserves. He does deserve it.

let's end it.
Two of my favorite interviewers collide! Nardwuar got you a couple times Marc!
Get well soon Nardwuar. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Haha, I love that Marc just says "I don't know if I was the first guy on the internet" so off-handedly in his reply and the utterly deadpan "not at all".
interview more podcasters/comedians!
This would really help him get more content and it would be awesome.
russell brand is the styx of comedy
Samith Mordraus Grand Illusion son
Samith Mordraus the bands from the entire era sucked admit it.
I'll know I'll have made it in life when I get interviewed by Nardwuar.
Zach Garner good luck with that
An esoteric, crowning achievement for every man!

Awww. It must have hurt Nardwuar to hear "I already have this". But they were both good sports. Great interview!
"Oh, you've been looking for that one?" "Not at all." Maron is so naturally funny it's insane.
Not to be gay or anything but Marc is a handsome guy
you know you're patrician when Nardwuar gives you a bunch of obscure records and you say "yeah I have this actually"
Usually, in every Nardwuar interview, there will always come a point where the interviewee will ask, 'How do you know that?'. Amazing. Just shows how Nardwuar is a fine researcher - which sets him apart from other journalists.
i had a feeling he would have a hard time dealing with the long pause at the end.
"where did you here that?" Nard is interview king with the obscure hot points to his guests
I met Marc at the Comedy Store in LA last year. Solid human being.
Wasn't expecting you to ever interview him. That's awesome.

so much narduwar this week, so stoked
Marc Maron is the only guest that matches Nardwuars energy lol
I actually have that "Rappin' Rodney" record.
slightly rude to say "I already have this" when someone gives you a gift
nit really he is just stating that he is aware of it

Some people don’t want to own a second copy of something
Nardwuar looks like my cousin that went to the batman premiere and afterwards made out with all the anthonys pizza employees.
thats oddly specific
It's not an idea they already did an interview. Nardwuar has yet to upload it.
It's good to see him in a different light, thank you Nardwuar

Thank you Nardwuar. I could have listened to an hour more of this one.
Rodney didn't get the respect he deserved as a rapper.
He didn't get any at all in fact.
i can't believe these two worlds collide. too cool
I agree about Rodney Dangerfield, and that Drew Friedman book looks awsome. I was late to this video.
maron is freaking hilarious in this interview.
How does he not seem to appreciate Nardwuar? He seems very respectful to me.
Nardwuar vs Immortal Technique... PLEASE!!! it will be one of your greatest interviews!
Favorite thing is when the guest doesn't know who he is and they're just taken aback by his depth of research
