Jokic wins MVP again! Shaq is in SHAMBLES!!

  • Nikola Jokic wins MVP for the 2023-2024 season and Shaq was not pleased. He believes Shai Gilgeous-alexander should have won and uses stats to back is argument when those are not in his or SGAs favor. By Shaqs own criteria Jokic is the rightful winner of the MVP. I believe Shaq is insecure about his career in that he didn't take it seriously enough despite his greatness. He could have been even greater if he was obsessed like Kobe Bryant.

I listened to his music, watched his movies, read his comics, played his games, he's been a presence for a long time in my life that I've enjoyed a ton. All he has to do is check his ego and ALLOW me to like him. He's got an unfathomable amount of fame and wealth, and he'll always be considered one of the basketball greats. He's won life, what more could he possibly want? He has every reason to be happy and at peace. He should be enjoying his great fortune, and passing on the good vibes. Yet he can't help himself from trying to throw his weight around, and behaving like a bitter diva. I'm glad Ernie checked him, but I know he ain't gonna reflect on nothing.

    Jokic:
    26.4 PPG (10th)
    12.4 RPG (4th)
    9 APG (3rd)
    79 GP
    34.6 MPG (23rd)
    58.3/35.9/81.7 shooting splits
    31 PER (1st)
    65% TS (10th)
    29.3 USG% (20th)
    17 WS (1st)
    .299 WS/48 (1st)
    13.2 BPM (1st)
    10.6 VORP (1st)
Team Record: 57-25 (2nd in west)
    SGA:
    30.1 PPG (3rd)
    6.2 APG (18th)
    5.5 RPG (58th)
    Led the League in Steals
    75 GP
    34 MPG (30th)
    53.5/35.3/87.4 shooting splits
    29.3 PER (3rd)
    63.6% TS (15th)
    32.8 USG% (3rd)
    14.6 WS (2nd)
    .275 WS/48 (2nd)
    9 BPM (3rd)
    7.1 BPM (4th)
Team Record: 57-25 (1st in west)
Clear as day that Jokic had a better statistical season. "Oh well SGA took the youngest team ever to the 1st seed."
    1. They got the 1st seed off of a tie breaker.
    2. That is ignoring the fact that they have a very good and deep team with two potential future all-stars AND the coach of the year.
And remember, how you finish matters the most, here's a comparison for that too:
    Jokic:
    27 PPG (7th)
    13 RPG (4th)
    9 APG (6th)
    26 GP
    36.3 MPG (16th)
    59.3/37.5/82.6 shooting splits
    Team Record: 21-6
    SGA:
    27.5 PPG (6th)
    5.5 RPG (95th)
    5.5 APG (46th)
    22 GP
    32.8 MPG
    50.9/31.9/84.6 shooting splits
    Team Record: 20-8
SGA did not earn this MVP and he should be happy he was named a finalist over Giannis. Luka and Jokic were the only two people that earned the award this season and they gave it to Jokic.

He might even be able to get away with using that as a talking point in a debate on where is in the greatest of all time conversation. Imagine sitting there waiting to be interviewed about an award you just won, someone comes out in front of you and announces to the world that you don't deserve it. Shaq owes that man an apology. Again, you don't have to think he deserves it, but it comes down to common decency as a human being. Shaq could have picked another time to express his opinion, instead of making another MVP race toxic. We're going to force that man into an early retirement! Joker, it's well deserved. Jokic's MVP is well deserved. Not only due to basic stats, but the impact he has on a game when he's on/off the court is like no other player in the league, and it isn't close. I completely agree with Kobe's assessment of Shaq. He never really grew as a player once he got into the League, a lot of his best years and most impressive performances came when he was on the Magic. All this nonsense coming from Shaq whenever he has to talk about a truly great big man is just petty jealousy. I like Shaq, I remember the days where Shaq-centric media was its own genre. Music, movies, comics, video games, and I love it all. But, I really hope at SOME POINT the guy grows up a bit and learns to humble himself. He's in his 50s and he still acts like a petulant teenage diva.
Shaq needs to realize that he doesn't need to convince people that he was great, or that we should like him. I already do. Tons of people do. When Shaq's having fun, he's just a blast to watch do anything. But he's so insecure, he needs to relax.

It absolutely went to the correct person. What Jokic does for Denver is just mindblowing. He is literally the centerpiece of their offense. He is the one enabling everyone else. His basketball IQ is also one of the highest in the league. I think what some people forget is that this is a professional bsketball league, not a pick up game. Jokic is not a flashy player, he does what works and does not feel the need to show off. So he will never be popular enough among fans, because he treats basketball in a different way. This is what separates him from Anthony Edwards and Shai, he is simply not interested in anything else but the most efficient way of playing basketball profesionally.

You’re seeing in these playoffs why Jokic deserves the MVP. The Nuggets are pretty pedestrian when he doesn’t carry the load. Totally agree with the Shaq thing. Shaq was always preoccupied with everything but basketball. He was still great, but imagine how much greater he would have been if he’d developed a consistent 15 foot jumper, improved his free throw shooting, thus eliminating the hack a Shaq, and kept himself in better physical shape, a leaner Shaq to stave off wear and tear on his body. That Shaq and Kobe staying together would have absolutely dominated for the better part of a decade or even more.

Thank you for pointing this out. In Shaq's early years in Orlando, there were teammates that thought Shaq's clubbing the night before games and practices was a problem. Shaq got shut down by Dennis Rodman in the playoffs after a fun night beforehand. The fun time attitude didn't stop in LA. And NOW......there is a problem. Talent can take you a long way until you meet the person that uses talent and hard work together.

It's a regular season award. And this season lots of the media who vote on it were saying Embiid was the MVP again until he got hurt. And look what happened to Embiid in the playoffs last season. At least Jokic has a ring. Embiid is the only MVP in history to never play in a conference finals.

Nikola Jokic is one league MVP away from tying LeBron James. Even now, we can finally move on to the future GOAT Debates of: Michael Jordan vs Victor Wembanyama, Michael Jordan vs Anthony Edwards, Michael Jordan vs Luka Doncic, Michael Jordan vs Nikola Jokic, Michael Jordan vs Jalen Brunson, Michael Jordan vs Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Michael Jordan vs Ja Morant, et cetera, et cetera. Desperate 40-YEAR-OLD senior citizen-LeBron James is refusing to retire because, after 21 years, an ancient 40-YEAR-OLD LeBron James is still pathetically chasing the “ghost in Chicago” aka The GOAT - Michael Jordan.

I'll be real, man -- LeBron has issues, but he sure ain't pathetic. By a fair number of metrics he's still a top-ten player in the NBA, at almost age 40, and he's doing it despite having a wack-ass team around him.
If I could believe anyone in the league right now COULD still meaningfully contribute to a championship team at age 40, LeBron's the one I'd believe. Current Lakers sure as hell aren't that, though.
