Wtf y’all in college? I’m doing this in my 8th grade algebra class
Same!
I like such simple explanations with real life examples. I wish universities taught this way.
Watching this video as part of my university course haha

I'm here because it was linked in my Gen psych class for one of my lessons 😂
Soo clear and informative. Thanx for the video.
Dr. Feenstra knows how to deconstruct mysterious concepts into understandable language making it relevant and practical. I think this video should be required viewing for anyone doing research or using data to make decisions including all educators.
no just dont
Who else has to watch this for school
ps ice cream is the best
The bottom line is that “ I love u “ very informative thank u sir
thanks for the explanation. It was clear.
Thank you, Sir.
VERY WELL EXPLAINED
Thanks for the clear and well-said explanation:)
I think people need to be more aware of the news, especially when reporters cited from health psychological articles
Thanks. I appreciate the support.
WHY... is this a teacher?
Clear depiction of information
My favorite correlation causation is climate change and pirates. Someone get Blackbeard here!
Ice cream contains both sugar and fat. The mechanism that causes weight gain when excess ice cream is consumed is called the Randle Cycle.
Generally I consider lack of correlation to disprove causation but your segment about ice cream seems to be the exception that proves the rule. Of course in a free population there are many confounders, which is why any epidemiological study should be heavily discounted until other methods have been employed to prove or disprove the claim. In our house, ice cream is consumed at a steady rate, but purchases are made when ice cream is sold at a discount and put into storage until consumption. Since consumption is not tied to sales, there is no reason to conclude weight gain should be tied to sales, either.
thank you.
This is great, thank you very much!
no... just noo
Awesome!
i dont even like ice-cream but i will eat it more now because you said its bad
great video
I loved it!!! Sooo helpful, thank you! I subscribed to the page :)

Sounds just like the Kaiser model ! But they don't even pretend to look for a cause.
This is genius!

LOL i love it
Thanks for this video. I wish more people would approach things in a more scientific approach like this, using logic and reason. Many lean into "scientific studies" which may very well be biased or even fraudulent without a second glance, and swallow the data whole with blind belief. Some will even be ostracized from the community for suggesting another theory. Its as if the spirit of free inquiry has been crushed by the current dogma of our current trend of "science". We are in a very dangerous age where our very own sources of "information" are under control by different "groups" pushing their own agenda. We have turned into a society were we dont look for confirmation of facts, but affirmation of our own beliefs. Especially in politics. I feel that most people on earth go no further than the news, and even that may only read a headline. But its difficult in an age where, say someone goes to "wikipedia" for their "facts" and not realize anybody can go onto any wikipedia page and edit it with their own words. They have crowdsourced information and its frightening.
that sounds like a you problem
IM gonna be honest we dont care haha WE dont care haha
@@joshtheboss4202 don't care about what?
The whole vid sucked tbh its just sayin they r guessing what may do it cuz something sold more

why are schools so against Ice Cream? like yall it can only be described by one word: Heaven.
If you sent it to your girlfriend, you are done for good.
Exactly! Cows farting doesn’t cause global warming!

According to this brief video can we claim that ice cream causes people to gain weight?
While there is a correlation between ice cream and weight gain, it does not equal causation. Think of it a different way. If a person ate 500 calories of ice cream each day and nothing else they would lose weight. Ice cream is not the cause, it is the restricted number of calories causing the weight loss. The reverse holds true for weight gain.

Isnt this a rip off of a TED Talk?
Which TED talk? Maybe they used my material. Of course I wouldn’t care, because the educational topic of correlation vs causation has been taught for decades in schools all around the world. But I would be curious if a TED talk was using the same theme and examples I used.
@@DecisionSkills Hey, Maybe! Maybe its the other way around and I am mistaken (Wouldnt be the first time!) Look up Tedtalk Correlations vs Causation. Something along those lines. It was put up about 9 yrs back.
It's analogous to The Chicken Or The Egg...which came 1st?
Or perhaps it's multiple discovery / simultaneous invention...and I must acknowledge Google and Wikipedia the opportunity to articulate the concept...or maybe allowing me to display more intellectual acumen than I actually have.
