A great review on a great car...well done sir. In the early 60's, I watched Route 66 and fell in love with what used to be called 'solid axle' corvettes.
My dream car in every sense. The car itself, the options, the hard top, the colors. Just beautiful.
Also, 4:30 is the start of my favorite part, when that second cab opens and the motor really roars to life then.
Nice review. My grandparents bought his and hers 58 vettes. One had the manual transmission, the other had an automatic. My grandfather wrecked the manual in the 70s. We still have the automatic in our family.
Such a beautiful car. Loved the review
I had a 58 Corvette 9 driver original 283 single 4 bbl. Tach with genny counter which meant it was built before May 1 1958. AM wonder bar radio. Heat. Windshield manual wash. 3 speed ( uck ) original hub caps. Tuxedo Black / silver black interior. White convertable / Black hardtop . And a tow package - that I was told was factory but never seen one before or since.
I was the 3rd owner in 1990.
The car was first owner was a Pilot from Eastern Airlines that owned a lake vacation home and towed a small sailboat ( go figure ) . I spoke to him. He owned it new to 1988.
Second owner was a relative of mine thst owned it two years and never drove it.
The 1958 Corvette is extremely pleasing to the eye. But Id be the first to admit not as much fun to drive ss it looked.
I kept it for 3 decades .
Thanks for the video. That 58 is a piece of art 👍
Fabulous Corvette! My favorite year. I had a chance in 1976 to swap a little cash plus my early '63 roadster with PB, PS, PW, 4-spd, 300hp 327, 2 tops for a 1958 turquoise w/ white insert (original paint). I turned them down. Stupid stupid stupid. The perforated chrome door panel trim is my favorite feature. Thanks for this great video!!
Classic and elegant ...
Vary nice explaining about the corvette. Vary easy to understand and thank you for taking the time. Vary informative video!
The 1958 was my high school dream car. Eventually got one, kept it for several decades. Be aware that the brakes and suspension were from the 1930s, not even minimally adequate.
i have a 61, stock but for the 300 hp 350 crate motor and a borg warner 5 speed trans, white with fawn coves and fawn interior both tops,
How comfortable is the cabin??
I noticed this guy is pretty uncomfortable on it .

A red O1 C5 . Mufflers delete.

@@Amarillobymorning777 im only 5.8 and its fine for me, that steering wheel is large for long legs but needed if the car is like mine no power steering.

It’s a beautiful beautiful car .
I like all the front chrome
Dual head lights/ wow .
Nice rig .
GR8 sport car.
Dad bought a 59 270hp 370 rear 4 speed. 1966.The steering wheel is 3 feet diameter so you can turn that worm and sector steering. And it sits in your lap. And the pedals are Way out there, so you might need to put wood on the pedals. My dad did. The seats are nice and flat so you slide back and forth on it. I bought it in 1982 and put a 350 in it 550hp/ That perked it up but it didn't change the steering and pedals....
Bert talks about this Corvette as if it were a Model T with no amenities and no performance. Realistically, solid axel Corvettes we're still running sports car races as late as 1969 or 1970 and winning against later model Corvettes and AC Cobras. In fact a solid-axle Corvette held the track record at Marlboro Speedway in Maryland in B production which is the class this car would run in. 1969 was the last year for that track. In fact the track record for B Production was actually faster then an A Production 427 AC Cobra. On a smooth racetrack, there's actually very little advantage independent suspension. I think the C2 Corvettes came out with independent rear suspension in anticipation of running races like Mille Miglia or the Targa Florio which were run on open roads . Lap times varied little between a C1 Corvette, a C2 Corvette Stingray with independent rear suspension, and a solid axle Camaro or Mustang. Despite their age, these old Corvettes were very potent machines and could be made to go very fast.
❤❤❤
3:40 Cowl Induction!✊😁
Beautiful 58, I've got its slightly younger brother 59 :)
This guy sounds like Red Green
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars, trucks and busses including
classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia
:-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel
supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state
operated central gas station per city or county. They even plan to
reduce the pump speed of public gas stations from 20 litre per
minute to only 2 litre per minute to punish owners of combustion
cars....from 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned
too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and
gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on....
So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They
even created a completely new kind of crime here in Germany, called
emissions and smoke crime. :-(((((
Dont need the comments on the new vettes
Front emblem too high, possibly front end damage.
