- In this extra clip from "JACO" (JACOTheFilm.com), jazz legend Joe Diorio demonstrates how he and his contemporaries "pushed the tonality" of music on his guitar. Joe Diorio performed with Sonny Stitt, Hal Crook, Eddie Harris, Ira Sullivan, Stan Getz, Pat Metheny, Horace Silver, Anita O'Day, and Freddie Hubbard.
"JACO" is a feature documentary produced by Robert Trujillo and directed by Paul Marchand. (JACOtheFilm.com)
"I'm not saying that I'm a great BeBop player..." Are you kidding me? You are one of the best BeBop players ever... 😊
Intervallic designs...
He's a proper visionary.
Not everyone 's cup o tea, but a splendid fellow
Decades ago, I heard Joe Diorio at a jazz club in the L.A. area. In addition to being one of the best, he was easily the fastest guitar player I've ever heard.
Joe Diorio - most famous person ever to come from my "hometown", Waterbury CT
Watertown here!
Joe was the best of the best. He set an incredibly high bar.
Exactly correct Joe! Clones have helped destroy the essence of Jazz! No stories of their own. They make good sidemen or ladies though. Especially when they giggle.. quite entertaining!
🥴
He is an amazing musician but play to white for me, no swing , no bluesy notes , like Europeu music. I studied his methody. I learn some great lines but to cold for me. I'm studying Benson, Wes, Barney kessel,Metheny. It's more Organic ,more intuitive and more dinamic.
I think he swings like hell.. love his playing.. different strokes for different folks
Be quiet
Check out a record called Bonita, it's a good one.
😂 good luck! Might as well throw Pat Martino under the bus too 🚌
