It's cool that you have taken the time to put out this information. As a Fisher man I had to make my own rods that I needed for the fishing that I did . I'm a flathead Fisher man and in the 80s there was no rods on the shelf that fit me and the fishing I like to do . And as for the acid rap I made my frist acid rod in the mid 90s. So if I'm fishing a bate caster and pulling in a 45 to 50+ Flathead and running light line and a smaller reel I'm thankful for the acid rap rod. It puts all the power of the fight on the rod and not so much on the reel and line. So thanks again for your time and great info.
I believe it greatly helps to have the right rod for the right bait, but overall as long as you're out fishing and catching, who cares.....basically comes down to preference. I had a St croix XH rod i used for bigger swimbaits and then upgraded to a Guide select and loved it. Now i have a LDC rod and love how it looks, but don't catch more fish. just feels better. I say buy what u can afford and fish on!
Ben built a 3-piece custom 7'9" H for me that I got this spring, and it is so nice to fish with. I had to go with the 3-piece for storage and transportation reasons.
Sweet video man! I have an F5 Departure rod which is his travel series and it's pretty nice. Doesn't feel like a 3 piece rod at all. Compared to my Daiwa Dxsb is night and day.
Sup bro. So an acid wrap is to help eliminate the natural twist when reeling in or fighting a fish. If you think about it, the casting reel and guides are on the side of the blank that is opposite of the torque that is being applied. Hope that helps! I make custom rods and personally know the guy who invented the acid wrap!
I caught my biggest fish on a 5.5 foot ugly stick, the second biggest on cabela's fish eagle 40 combo. lol. Now I have the Dobyns 867, i fear it will never catch the big one, but it will be fun trying. But, no custom rod for me, i neglect all my rod so it's pointless to get anything fancy for me.
Fairly new to the swimbait game. Just got my first couple fish on a 250 saturday. Not sure what line to use. Got one rod. Wanna throw big mag swimbaits and glides on it what line could you recommend? Said youre out of vid ideas maybe you could do a Q&A vid thatd be cool
The biggest fish I have ever caught was on a 7' mh UGLY STICK hahaha throwing an s-waver 200... Didn't break the bank but the rod gave after a good while totally worth the money but on the custom aspect you CANT beat it.. it's custom made For you...
Sorry if you talked prices and I didn't hear. How much money do you recommend to set aside to get a custom rod built? I know it can vary and the sky can be the limit, but how much money would you expect to spend on your next Custom rod?
the rod and reel aren’t that important, being stealthy and quiet are whats going to help most. Make a cpl casts to where you think the fish are and if there is no bite move to another spot, dont sit there and keep throwing to the same area, you wont get bit, they know you are there, move away and sneak back later. Big bass fishing is just like hunting big game, you have to be quiet and unseen.
3 month's is a good turn around for a custom rod that's crazy, I make fully custom rods and it doesn't take more then 3 hours to build an a good pre finish an some apoxy its finished in 2 days
Been using your info out here in California you already I’m banging him here u got email I got 10 or 11 fish over 17 pounds listening to you useing glide baits thank you bro

I lost my pb today I was pond hopping and lost at least a 9.5lber on a 90 whopper plopped it sucked. But now I know to swimbait fish that pond.
2 years ago but have you fish megabass rods? Amazing blanks especially the 2012, 2015 Black jungle series.
Good video wondering if you ever tried 13 fishing muse rods, they look like high quality rods and not to pricey
What length handle do you have on your custom rods?
Big Kahuna in Bama I’ll measure them when I get the chance but I believe they are near that 2ft range, maybe a little less
My next rod is going to be a F5, thanks for the info!!
hells yeah, good stuff my dude.
Yeah, He makes some great rods and his prices are hard to beat. I'm going to pare it with a 300 Tranx.
@@AtypicalOutdoors sweet! Those reels are great!
If people are looking for a great factory rod check out the daiwaa kage

Devon Reynolds 20-25 lb big game or pline cxx. Everyone is different on brand and lb test just have to figure out what works for you.
@@14GundamWing used big game the other day didnt have problems. Not a fan of trilene im a seaguar guy but its cheap and seems to be alright so 🤘
Give the P-Line CXX a try, it's inexpensive as well.
