This may go against the majority but I liked the shoe holders better without the socks and pants. Hearing the shoe slide onto the tree and then tensioning and tightening the set screw was great. It’s not quite as good with the socks and pants.
I can ditch the socks if you want. Its probably stretching them out anyways.
