I've never seen such a handsome man as Rick Nelson !!! He was a good singer both in Rock n,'Roll and romantic songs. He was a good song writer too. He had a very controlling father and was always vey attached to his family. He had an unfortunate marriage. RIP.
Rick never received the credit he deserved for his music; especially the hits from the fifties and sixties. The guy really knew how to sing a song. As for his personal life, well, we're all human. We miss you, Rick.
I would say, because he had such wonderful talented parents. Ricky as a singer, In my humble opinion was second only to Elvis. I would say he tried to conform to his parents lifestyle, and at the same time wanting to do his own thing. Ricky could sing Rock n' Roll, and Country music, and was a great Ballad singer. I saw Ricky in concert just before he died in the plane crash. We saw his twin sons in concert twice at Casino Rama, Ontario, Canada.
In late August 1977, a week or so after Elvis Presley's death, I was in Lake Tahoe, Nev. were Rick Nelson was soon scheduled to perform. A poster of him, on the Casino wall, showed him dressed like Elvis & we were told that Col. Tom Parker had already approached Rick to take over, as the new "Elvis"! The partnership never occurred, but could have made Rick Nelson a 'superstar"! p.s. (I watched "Ozzie & Harriet" from Day 1, in 1952 & loved it!)R.I.P. Rick!
It's almost impossible to feel sorry for someone who made millions and wasted a lot of it. He was lucky, good looking, nice voice and presence, etc. He should have been Gay then he would have been even more famous.

These famous celebrities who make millions and then squander it on silly lavish spending and in some cases wind up broke. They could save just 10% of their earnings and live a comfortable life after their stardom fades.

no, Colonel Parker was out of touch by that time. He made a mess of Elvis' career in the 70's.
I took my then girlfriend to see a show in Houston in either 1980 or 1981. Ricky Nelson was only 40 years old - but he looked much older.
